Yuri is confirmed to be the murderer of Helga Albrecht, the victim mentioned by the East German official at the beginning of episode 1. I've been anticipating this episode since you began this season. Nikki is on a mission and there will be hell to pay.

I keep forgetting to mention it but this episode, with it's heavy Lebowski connections, reminded me that The Big Lebowski replayed in theaters last month and I didn't pick up on it until rewatching the movie that the whole mistaken identity between The Big Lebowski and The Dude is mirrored with the Emmit/Ennis Stussy storyline of this season. I don't remember if you two recognized that early on in the season. Once it hit me I was thinking to myself how I didn't see it until now.

If you wanna see more Thewlis, you NEED to check out Naked (1993). Without a doubt David Thewlis' finest performance and one of my favourite performances in all of film. It's a pretty grim time but has a lot of charm to it too, would highly, highly recommend.

I don’t mind surrealism in shows but I haven’t enjoyed it within the context of Fargo. I didn’t like the aliens last season and I didn’t really like the bowling alley scene. It was just confusing. Why is Ray Wise in a bowling alley in the middle of nowhere with a kitten? Also, I definitely knew that DJ Quall’s head was coming off so I stopped looking until after it happened. I didn’t really want to see that.

Totally fair! The chain decapitation was pretty wild

I've heard of it! I've been wanting to watch it for a long time now. That's Mike Leigh right?

Okay, yes I forgot about that. God how old is he then??

Yup, really interesting the process he uses to write his films. He spends weeks and months with his actors figuring out their characters and then scenes are written through repeated improvisation until they have a script. And then finally that script is what is shot, blows you away but makes so much sense when you hear how natural and flowing dialogue can be in his films.
