Figured you guys could use a horror movie for once ;) I believe the style of dance is largely some combination of krumping and vogueing with maybe some tutting thrown in too. And iirc most of the cast were dancers not actors, and the script was only five pages long or something and most of it was improvised.

Haven't watched this yet (though I've seen the film, years ago). Really curious what you guys thoughts of this. Wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if you ended up hating it, or at least disliking it. Based on your catalog, this kind of film doesn't seem like something "in your wheelhouse" (at least as far as this channel is concerned). I wonder if either of you have seen any other of his films. "Enter the Void" is the only other Noe film I've seen personally. Maybe this movie isn't as unpleasant as I remember, but part of me is kind of dreading watching you watch this, but only a small part.

It was definitely an uneasy watch (it's a discomforting film). I didn't hate it, though I think if I had seen it in a theater, that might have been my initial reaction as I left when it was over. I looked at it (kind of like early Peter Weir films) an an exercise in creating atmospheric film, though this was much more experimental. I appreciated it for the artful style and the way it created unease and claustrophobia with the long takes, lighting, and kinetic camerawork, rather than looking at it as an aesthetic experience as a traditional movie.

That's pretty wild that the script was only 5 pages. So many of the conversations did feel like improv

Noe's film 'Irreversible' is what put him on the map, and that film's story is told in reverse. It is extremely upsetting and caused quite a stir at Cannes due to one particular scene. It stars Monica Bellucci and Vincent Cassel. Not a film for your channel, watch it own your own. I like this movie a lot; I have seen it twice. If you're into horror films that involve dancing I recommend 'Suspiria' 1977 and 'Suspiria' 2018. The original is by Dario Argento and the remake is by Luca Guadagnino (Call Me By Your Name). It is a rare case of a remake (or "reimagining") being a vast improvement on the original (this is arguable, depends on who you talk to). I love both films
