Petition for a video of Kevin wrangling Willow watching Willow! Or, y'know, just more Willow the puppy pictures. 😄

Daniel Lydford

This is one of my least favourite plot points of the whole series. They do all this work to set up Dr. Frankenstein - I mean Dr. Walsh - and then just as her true nature is being revealed they kill the character.

Carl Wilson

Turns out Buffy understands a little more than she let on what Faith meant about what slaying makes you crave after - then again, Riley is an awful lot like a low-fat yogurt, isn't he?

Kevin L

Willow is much preferable to... did you say Brewski? 🍺🥴

Kevin L

Yeah, though I believe the plan changed abruptly mid-season because of some offscreen issues... (Best to table the topic for now, and discuss at end of season.)

Carl Wilson

Let's take a moment to say how great Lindsay Crouse was as Professor Walsh (RIP). She wasn't written with the verve of some previous villains, especially following in the footsteps of the Mayor (a result of Whedon being busy helping Angel get going, I think). But Crouse made the most of what she had.

Daniel Lydford

I was confusing Willows for a moment, and was wondering where the clip of Kevin wrangling Alyson Hannigan would come from.

Chris

I was just remembering a few episodes ago when Riley was helping hang a Lesbian student alliance banner. Basically worldbuilding, or like Chekhov's lesbian.

Carl Wilson

Re Seth Green - besides his position on the call sheet, this was just at a time in showbiz when people pretty much never passed up movie work to stay on a TV show. Buffy was a part of the transition to prestige TV that changed all that, but they weren't there yet.

Leah W.

The degree to which Spike can harm others around him is definitely confusing and I don't think even the writers had a firm grasp of it lol. The way I view it is that he can push others - maybe cause that is sort of a defensive move with no intent to harm - but anything further will most likely hurt him.

Carl Wilson

Yes, probably not the best plot-wise but it is pretty grisly and hilarious the way it happens.

I've always been baffled why the initiative lack the initiative to make an elevator that takes you to the ground floor. Instead it takes you the top of a set of stairs that serve no other purpose than to access the elevator. Somehow it feels like driving your car as far as your shed where you keep your bicycle to get to work.

I love the visual of Buffy in her halter and asking all her questions. Riley kinda bugs me in this. It might be my current perceptions coloring things, but…I don’t think it’s ok for soldiers to have no idea what they’re doing; they have to be able to refuse illegal orders

ScarlettMi

That’s the first time Buffy has woken up after sex with the boy still in her bed. She was alone after Angel and even Parker ran out for coffee and she was alone then.

Jeff

Kevin, you and I adopted new canine buddies in the same week! Mine's older, a sweet 10-year-old named Penny (changed from "Preppy"... what is up with all the awful shelter dog names?). I hope Willow brings you as much love and joy and wiggles as Penny has already brought to me!

Lyla

I thought this too! Almost like she's practicing what Faith taught her. Love the connection. And yes to Riley as low fat yoghurt, lol.

Carl Wilson

"Something you want to tell me?" "What? Oh. Yes, I'm a lesbian."

Carl Wilson

Good justification. It's not unlike how direct sunlight has to be to burn vampires - Giles opening the door to his crypt makes Spike jump out of the way, but there's a window that's letting light in through that whole scene and it seems to be no problem.

Youtalkingtome

Congratulations!!! I love that you adopted an older pet! There were no dogs available older than 3 years this weekend for me, but I deeply feel for pets that find their way into shelters later in life. You're a true gentleman!

Kevin L

She was a very good choice for a stern character like Walsh. Watching her manner, her delivery, it's not surprising at all that she was a collaborator (and spouse) of David Mamet's.

Kevin L

Except in Hush, when the elevator opens right onto the main floor level (after they almost get gassed, and Maggie points at the sign "In Emergency Use Stairs"). 😆

Neill Shaughness

This episode really showcases the "double reversal" that Whedon projects are known for. First when Walsh pulls the "she died through no fault of my own..." Bullshit only to have Buffy immediately call her out, but also the villain monologue interrupted by premature villain death.

Gail Hislop

'i want a house to drop on her now' 😂😂 mic drop in the last few seconds - bye bye Professor Walsh.

Jamie Morgan

"Chekhov's lesbian" Dude, you made me choke on my coffee!!

Jamie Morgan

OOOOOOOOH I hate Walsh! The audacity to lie to and manipulate Riley into thinking his GIRLFRIEND IS DEAD and then ORDERING him to stay....OOOOOH it makes my BLOOD BOIL! Rest in pieces, bitch! Rot13: "Evyrl'f va gur perqvgf, ur'f tbaan or fgvpxvat nebhaq" Ubb obl, gurl ner tbaan trg gur eht chyyrq sebz haqre gurz va frnfba fvk.

Claire Eyles

God I love Anya as a character.

Claire Eyles

I will definitely have more to say on Tara and Willow a bit later on in the season. Right now it is a bit of a 'will they, won't they' situation and I don't wish to spoil which direction they choose to go in.

Joshua Taylor

What’s funny is I just watched All The President’s Men and was shocked to see her in a small role as a fellow WAPO reporter.

camata42

Perhaps it's a feng shui thing that says elevators should open at the top of stairs in a white-walled hanger but can go to ground level in bare-brick rooms.

Paul Komoroski

Correct. If he doesn't intend harm, the chip doesn't activate. The inconsistency is in the Initiative episode where he escapes the facility: The chip should've been constantly hurting him b/c clearly he was wanting to do harm to the workers in order to get out of there. J*ss Wh*don was pissed about that scene.

Paul Komoroski

The scene where we see Buffy on the monitor before Riley and Walsh do and then Buffy gives that speech to Walsh... That scene is up there somewhere among my favorite scenes in the whole show.

vala p

Oh c'mon, the greatest man Buffy knows tried to kill her and couldn't do it, you think you can, Ha!

Youtalkingtome

In our modern world, we definitely want Riley asking questions.

Youtalkingtome

That's really true; in 2026, Oscar winners are going to TV, where so much of the good work is these days.

Erica

I just remembered about this! I've mentioned that Anthony Stewart Head (giles) played dr frank n furter in many stage productions of rocky horror, but Amber Benson (Tara) also had a role in a few performances, as janet! https://youtu.be/-LH43hTh5KI?si=mw5jvKFU9kZe0Y6f

Kimba

Maybe it just took a while to integrate, having been recently implanted, like the neurons need to attach to it, so that’s why it wasn’t quite firing yet while escaping the initiative.
