Actuarial Lurker

She looks like Governor Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan

Clare Manion

I’m only about halfway through at the moment but there were a couple ultra tiny details I found delightful: — Terrible guy in the bed - for just a moment, we see William Blake’s “The Ancient of Days” painting off to the side. It depicts a sort of deity of reason and law - a fitting choice for a calculating villain… That and of course, Blake already has ties to the Hannibal universe through his other work, "The Great Red Dragon." — At the hospital, Chilton brings Will and Alana bouquets featuring hydrangea (pretty sure) - a couple years ago I was gifted one of those ‘Victorian language of flowers’ dictionaries, so on a lark, I looked it up: hydrangea conveys boastfulness and heartlessness. Chilton isn’t there because of any real friendship or affection for them, he’s there to advocate his own plans. How apt. Somebody did their homework :)

Mason is now being played by Joe Anderson.

Wow - agreed, a lot of really wonderful cinematography/visual effects in this episode (and some really gross ones, but never mind). Bella’s passing was so sad, but beautifully told; I like the fact that the show took some time for that. It could have easily been glossed over, but seeing their *actual* love story was a nice counterweight to all of the scheming and ethical quagmires in the rest of the show's relationships. And yes - it definitely feels like all the chess pieces are moving towards catching Hannibal, so it’ll be very interesting to see how this all plays out.

I figured he had his own intentions and you can't really blame him!

Will is describing a toxic relationship. And it really is. Why does a wife forgive his husband for beating her? Well she does and she doesn't. She wants it to stop, she can rationalize it, but why doesn't she? I think that's where Will is here and I agree that it makes him a weak protagonist. It doesn't make him less interesting. Manipulation isn't pretty and it for sure isn't neat.

Is the watch-along version going to be posted?

Roland

Is there a Watch-Along dropping soon?

Youtalkingtome

I was having issues with the file the day of upload and completely forgot. Will be posted right away

I love how they brought all* the injured / presumed killed characters back. In any other show it would be laughable fanservice, but in Hannibal it's simply a beautiful execution of a fantasy (horror) story arc. And every scene with Raul Esparza is just a pure joy. :) *The exception was Abigail, whose 'live' return would likely have been a bridge too far, but they nevertheless used the character again in a neat way.

> Putting "English" on a ball means imparting sidespin to control its path or bounce, a term popularized in billiards but used across many sports. Metaphorical Use: It can also mean adding a little extra effort, flair, or unexpected twist to a project or conversation. <

Fantastic catches, thanks for sharing.

Glenn Fleshler (Cordell) is one of my favourite "that guy from that thing" actors.

Chilton was shot by Miriam last season. We didn't see it in as much detail as in this episode, but we saw her take Jack's gun and shoot him.
