There is at LEAST one Oscar winner in this season... -You should consider checking out "The Offer" which is a single season show about the making of "The Godfather". Very good show. -Doctor Senator was also Mayor Royce in "The Wire". Met him once, he is a very nice man.

I'm so excited to get back into this show... The opening was fantastic. It established the rules of the world in such an evocative way - rules that I suspect will be breaking down as we go along. Plus, Jessie Buckley as the serial killer/chaos agent is brilliant. Agreed, she so sweetly unhinged it makes her way scarier than any of the mobsters. And as for the possible tie-in to Season 2's corporatized mob, I wonder if the credit card thing is how that comes to be. Or part of it anyway. Music note: I love the use of Duke Ellington's "Caravan" in the opener with all the historical mob stuff. They used the one song in several different styles to reflect the action. Really cool choice.

This season began filming in October of 2019, just a few months before the Covid shutdown. When production was shut down in March of 2020, just a few key scenes remained to be filmed. Ethelrida appears to represent (so far) the moral center of this season's universe, a role usually taken by a police officer (Marge, Molly, Lou, or Gloria). I'm not too worried about her making it through the season, though Oraetta has an eye on her and seems to not approve of her existence. Josta reminds me more of Rye Gearhardt than Dodd. He has ambitions but seems less competent. The tension and chaos of the shooting scene was handled brilliantly here, with quick cuts of hands reaching beneath coats interspersed with kids playing with toy guns, and then to end it with a heart-attack-turned-gas-attack-turned-accidental-shooting was genius.

Did you guys notice @1:02:53, as they panned from the girl and her dad to the nurse across the street, there was a man standing in the middle of the street?

I've been so excited for this season to start!! As soon as you said something about Oscar winners in every season in the intro I was like "Well, get ready for another!" I love Jessie Buckley so much, she's so great in this role, and it adds a really fun and interesting character type to her resume (and accent!)

She is so unhinged! This was such a strong premiere

Rye is actually a good comparison. Covid productions are no joke. Weird to think that was 6 years ago

What an amazing first episode, this anthology just keeps getting better and better!

I couldn't help but think there's a connection to A Serious Man when the Irish mob boss is killed and says, "A curse on you and your family."
