Another Walter Hill movie to check out is Streets of Fire (1984) with Willem Dafoe, Diane Lane, Amy Madigan, and Rick Moranis who steals the movie as the worlds biggest a hole music producer.

You mentioned Beverly Hills Cop, Stallone was originally cast in that but wanted it to be more serious. So they recast him and he rewrote the script into the movie Cobra. One day I want to watch them both back to back and see how they line up.

There is no world in which that would have been as good a movie!

Jack's hot girlfriend Elaine is played By Annette O'Toole. She has had an extensive career in movies, television and theater over the past six decades. In the 1980's she played Lana Lang in Superman III, and came back to the franchise in the 2000's to play Martha Kent in Smallville. She's a singer and musician as well, and has been married to Spinal Tap/Better Call Saul star Michael McKean since the 1990's. She was nominated for an Emmy in 1990 for playing Rose Kennedy in The Kennedys of Massachusetts. She also has a 2004 Oscar nomination for co-writing several songs for the Christopher Guest mockumentary A Mighty Wind (highly recommended if you're familiar with Spinal Tap or Best in Show). Edit: just found out you've watched both! I've got two more of your backlog movies to watch...

You're right, Annette O'Toole is way too lovely for Jack. I fell hard for her in "One on One" with Robbie Benson. A terribly bad basketball movie (they have Benson dunking in an overhead shot, and the rim had to be lowered a few feet). Thanks for these watches. Bought them all when I thought I was going to be laid up with the bum foot much longer. Still worth it. ☮️

Your mom was right about Ishtar she saved you from seeing a terrible movie.

This is Eddie Murphy's first movie and he was only 21

JENNIFER E

Everyone looked older in the 80s.

We watched Mighty Wind on the channel, and absolutely loved it! Annette O'Toole is incredibly talented.

Youtalkingtome

It always seems to make every "biggest disaster in Hollywood" list.

Youtalkingtome

We sincerely appreciate your list! We had a great time!

Man, what an incredible talent right out of the gate.

Ben Gilbert

I saw it when it was first released. About the only thing I remember is the song, "If you play the accordian, you'll never be in a rock and roll band."

Actuarial Lurker

Nick Nolte was 41- not a harsh late 30s- a harsh early 40s

I spent the whole movie wondering where I recognised the actor who played Luther from. He was T-Bird in The Crow!
