lol the way ya'll feel about Rory and Dean, part 2, is exactly how I feel as well. I didn't like it much the first time, and now it's just pathetic!

Riley Swain

I'm so glad you guys feel as much vitriol towards Taylor as I do... his BS has a way of pushing all my buttons lol

Youtalkingtome

Me too! Someone being smug while making the lives of other people worse just really pushes buttons for me.

Yasemin

Soooo.....because Marty is a nice guy, single and into her, she has to be interested in him? Nah. :)

Yasemin

Also, the "British guy" is Australian. :) (Finn)

Youtalkingtome

NO, not at all! He's just a better option than Dean.

Yasemin

I think it might be more nuanced with Dean. As in, there is also some unfinished business between them (remnants of the past, so to speak). Yes, it's messy, but I wouldn't say he "just wants sex with her" or that he 100% wouldn't have broken up with Lindsay otherwise. He was still in love with Rory when he got married (bad move, sure). But still, it never felt like "just sex" to me.

Yasemin

It just goes to show what a great actor Michael Winters (Taylor) is, to stir up this much emotion. :) He is obviously portrayed in a way that we are supposed to dislike him, but I never really did. I think he adds to the color of Stars Hollow.

So many thoughts! Six thoughts, in fact. (1) That last scene with Luke and Lorelai makes me cry. Lorelai saying, "Gets up early. Hates champagne. I'm learning." That's a level of humility, of giving, of putting herself second, that we just haven't seen much with Lorelai and men (she does it for others, certainly for Rory, and has for her parents, and the town). And on his part, Luke was trying not to impose it on her, he even pretended he wasn't asleep. They are right for each other.

Carl Wilson

2) You guys obviously don't have much experience of 90s-00s indie band culture. A band like Lane's definitely would have been snobby and felt humiliated to play a song like the Great American Hero theme, unless they put their own ironic spin on it. Not "everybody" liked that song then, because they/we thought it was too cheesy. I do love that the band decides that moving in on cheese has given them their new sound - that's kind of progressive, in a weird way, for the time!

Carl Wilson

3) This was a good comeuppance for Taylor, but Jackson doesn't actually want this job, and Lorelai sees that this is all Taylor really has. And the only reason he's on the show in a lot of ways. I'm too attached to him, and the dumb town things he makes happen and nobody else would, to want him permanently booted. He's an important foil to our favourite townies. And Miss Patty and Babette are busybodies too! That's what Stars Hollow is.

Carl Wilson

4) Not into this Zack and Lane thing. It's like she feels she doesn't have any other option but to fall for the nearest attractive boy, which is not so unrealistic given her history. But Zack's an idiot. Brian's a dweeb but at least he's nicer. I'd even prefer she had an inappropriate Paris-and-Asher-style crush on Gil! But most of all I wish she'd just meet a cute guy at the diner. And 5) So over Rory and Dean that I wish you would talk more about everything else in each episode.

Carl Wilson

Finally: 6) Paris's embarrassing Rory about sex and her noise-cancelling headphones in this episode is a very underappreciated comic riff.

Carl Wilson

Yeah, for everything you could say against Dean, I don't think that's fair at all. To be crass, if it were just sex, Lindsay was a very beautiful girl. He feels much much more about Rory.

Yasemin

100% agreed!

> A selectman (or selectwoman) is an elected municipal official who serves as part of a governing board responsible for managing the public affairs, administration, and day-to-day operations of a town. This role is almost exclusively found in New England (such as Massachusetts, Connecticut, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine). <

Youtalkingtome

No doubt, he is a terrific actor. He should work more in television.

Youtalkingtome

I will say this, The Lemonheads cover of Mrs. Robinson is incredible. Luke and Lorelai restore my faith in humanity

Carl Wilson

Lol, I realize I kind of flooded the zone there, but thanks for that response!

Davante Adams (NFL player) doesn't actually have a Taco Bell in his house. It was a running gag with his teammates because of how often Adams eats Taco Bell. The company caught wind of it and decided to make commercials about it. When Adams was traded from Las Vegas to New York (in 2024), Taco Bell put out a fake listing for his Las Vegas house and mentioned it comes with a fully functioning Taco Bell. The bit has gone even further. Adams signed with the Rams in 2025. SoFi Stadium isn't that far from Taco Bell's corporate office in Irvine (which Adams has visited and compared to Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory), so they decided to further play up their advertisements with Adams. They transformed a section of SoFi Stadium into "Davante's House at SoFi Stadium" with an entire fan experience for the home opener. https://www.tacobell.com/newsroom/taco-bell-built-davante-adams-house-in-sofi-stadium
