I like that that board member who wouldn't let Jack speak is the same actor who played another smarmy studio exec from Wayne's World. The constant phone calls over the holiday break remind me of when I rekindled a high school flame RIGHT before summer break, and then went on vacation with my parents. That's kind of how I feel about these romantic comedy situations, they're adults behaving like high schoolers.

Go back and look at Danny's office at the end of the cold open and tell me it isn't the same as Josh's on West Wing !? Just noticed it as I'm doing a WW Rewatch for the millionth time and it jumped out at me! Also i really hated the continued harassment of Jordan by Danny, particularly after she highlights here that she said NO to him 3 times and very firmly tells him again to stop and he choses to say no!! It's not cute, it's not endearing, it's offensive and cringeworthy and inappropriate, especially now that he has got other people involved and she would have been perfectly justified in saying to him right then 'Okay, You're fired' and HR would have fully supported her. I don't understand why Sorkin made this choice to have written it this way and it has shades of the Danny/CJ early days of West Wing ,when he kept pushing and pushing her to go out with him. So it kind of shows a pattern in Sorkin's writing with him indicating that harassing a woman continually will get you what you want in the end and is 'romantic'. Anyway, I pretty much lost all respect for the character of Danny after this.

Because of rewatching this I’ve been watching interviews with Jamie Tarses the first NBC female programming executive, who was a story consultant on Studio 60 and the basis for Jordan. Jamie passed away a few years ago. In tv history years in the future she’ll probably be known for casting her then boyfriend Matthew Perry on Friends and getting fired by ABC for fighting the idea of airing millionaire during sweeps months.

Also this pattern: Charlie and Zoe at the end of S4. Also, Matt and Harriet. It's apparently how Sorkin does this, and he hasn't actually *listened* since the 90s. It is stomach turning, really.

As much as I love a romance.. as an adult now..that scene was a hard watch! Particularly after she laid it out bare and correctly pointed out that the whole town now knows that Danny has a crush on Jordan. It really was a shitty thing to do to her.

This was an enjoyable episode except for absolutely everything Matt and Danny are doing in pursuit of their romantic relationships, which makes me want to stop watching the show completely. In Danny's case, that final conversation saw him graduate from unpleasant to arguably criminal. Sorkin thinks this is cute? It's not cute.

I was pretty down on this show when you guys started watching it, based on my memories of the original airing, but through this rewatch I've really come around on it. But the Danny stuff here is reminding me of where a lot of my sour feelings came from. It felt gross 20 years ago, it feels gross now.
