This Poll brought to you by Kevin's indecision on a poll category this week.

Roland

Midnight Run is an incredibly fun movie.

Jonathan

I’m assuming the Everybody Wants Some is from 2016 unless you found something really obscure 😜

Jenna Woginrich

city slickers is underated . If you guys loved DAVE, same vibes!

Suzanne Whyte

There’s some fun movies on there but I have to go with Project Hail Mary since I just watched it and quite a few reactions to it and I would love to see Joe and Kevin’s reaction. Plus, I think it’s been quite a while since we’ve had a sci fi movie.

Youtalkingtome

It is. I wish I could edit, but I guess they don't want us changing polls of we aren't liking the results.

I🖤Kraken

I read the Last Picture Show but my brain saw Rocky Horror Picture Show (!!) two very different shows unfortunately, one definitely leads you to the other though. 😆

Jonathan

It’s the only movie named that so most people will figure it out. The poll seems to be a runaway so far anyway.

Kat

Same, best movie I've seen in a long time and I'd love to see the guy's reaction to it.

Weird Magic

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels is the first movie I ever loved so much I had to go to the theatre a second time!

Actuarial Lurker

Hey- I already donated to a Dirty Rotten Scoundrels patreon reaction! If you did it early as part of the poll I could pick something else...

Peggy G

Everybody Wants Some!! is probably Linklater's most underappreciated film yet also one of my favorites. I voted for that and School Ties because I was OBSESSED with School Ties. Sooo many hotties in that movie (I was 12 when it came out).

Actuarial Lurker

Kevin doesn't realize that I already Patreon requested that reaction a few months ago!

Actuarial Lurker

MIdnight Run, Last Picture Show and African Queen

GDF

I think Project Hail Mary might completely dominate here but it's still only early voting lol.

Chemical Em

dirty rotten scoundrels!!!!!!

seth e.

Project Hail Mary is so wonderful, have been hoping you'd get to it soon!

Amelie W

I've seen Project Hail Mary like eight times, read the book and Weir's background research and more fanfic than I have in the last twenty years, so you might say I'm a fan, but it somehow didn't occur to me a lot of people would vote for it. How exciting.

Suzanne Whyte

There does seem to be some recency bias when new movies are in the poll but there is a benefit in watching the popular new movies as they come out. Some films seem to dominate pop culture for a while and it’s difficult to avoid spoilers if you wait to watch them.

danzthename

Please watch Project Hail Mary! Please!

Suzanne Whyte

I’ve seen several reactions to it and people really love it. I’m a big sci fi fan so I expected to enjoy it but I would like to see the discussion about why it is so popular. I was chatting with a friend about it and I have thoughts.

Lola Lirola

Don't we have Arrival this very week on the pipeline? Not objecting to it, at all, btw. Sci-fi is my favourite genre of all, and Arrival is a masterpiece. And I haven't seen Project Hail Mary, but I really want to, so what better opportunity!

Lola Lirola

😅😅 There's always the one option you know they don't wanna have to wait for someone to pick, and I approve!

Suzanne Whyte

I considered Arrival but I thought since they haven’t actually watched it yet my comment isn’t technically untrue.

dys

Only others on this list I’ve seen are Logan’s Run, which is fine but I don’t have a nostalgic attachment to, and The African Queen which is one of my mom’s favorites but again I don’t have a lot of attachment to. With Project Hail Mary I read the book and loved it, I was cautiously optimistic for the movie and it did not disappoint. Amazing track record for Andy Weir to do both this and The Martian, two books people loved getting adapted to movies that were also universally loved.

Just Lily

Isn't Dirty Rotten Scoundrels already in the Coming soon list? Waiting very impatiently for it 😅

Youtalkingtome

I totally overlooked Dirty Rotten Scoundrels on the coming soon list. Oops!

James B.

Want to watch PHM on my own first, so I'm going to have to wait till it hits a streaming service I already pay for. But I'll check out the reaction whenever it does hit. Loved the book.

CK in ZH

My choices too, although heavily slanted to AQ, John Houston's adaptation of the C.S. Forrester classic. As a follow up to it, there is Clint Eastwood's White Hunter, Black Heart which is based around the filming of AQ and is underrated and generally forgotten today.

Andy Schreiber

City Slickers, African Queen, and Last Picture Show

Michelle Taylor

Movie Poll Suggestions Gen X "What Were We Thinking?" Rewatch List: - Over the Edge (1979) - The Outsiders (1983) - Real Genius (1985) - The Legend of Billie Jean (1985) - Iron Eagle (1986) - The Rescue (1988) Here’s another poll idea, rather than wait until an actor passes away to honor their work, consider selecting a film starring an actors whose birthdays falls in the current month as a way to celebrate their contributions while they are still with us.

Michelle Taylor

Could you please let me know where I might find the list of purchased movies? It seems I have misplaced it.

Maddy D.

So this will be a clean sweep 😅 however PHM is phenomenal. I’m someone who also NEVER likes book to movie adapts but they did a spectacular job with pretty heavy source material. I’m super excited to see you guys watch for the first time.

Lola Lirola

Yeah! I was honestly shocked when he said he doesn't have any message on his books, because what!???? Does ... he not know what he's writing? 😅 Anyway, really excited for Hail Mary!! The other two are exactly the ones I voted for! Logan's Run has super nostalgia factor for me personally because it was one of the first sci-fi movies I ever watched, as a child, on a tv rerun. I think it was the first post apocalyptic film I saw, and the mere concept of things having gone wrong for humanity kinda blew my naive 9-year-old mind! Ah to be that innocent again, lol. African Queen was my grandfather's favourite, and it's a great movie!

Actuarial Lurker

That's what happens when you have a queue of 60 films ahead of you... the hardest working reactors in America

Ashley Thomas

its not winning but city slickers is so fun,i hope it gets watched at some point. its a classic.

Ashley Thomas

i think they would love it too. its great.

Cosmic Slice

How does Dirty Rotten Scoundrels only have 8% ?!?!

Kimba

I thought I remembered seeing it on the list! I used to love this one as a kid.

Statmanjeff

Glad you finally got around to watching Ever After. Surprised (but glad) you watched Babette's Feast, too. Didn't request you watch it because it is a foreign language film. If foreign languages are not a barrier, then I'll again add The Way He Looks (2014, Portuguese) for recommendation and add Toto the Hero (1991, French) to my long list of requests.

Roland

Same

Roland

Because it's already been sponsored, they forgot! :D

Claire Eyles

Might I suggest separating the older films from the more modern ones for future polls. I've noticed on a few different Patreons that people mostly seem to go for newer films if they're included in a list of old and new movies. Logan's Run would be my top pick on this list, followed by The African Queen.

Cosmic Slice

Ah...I must have missed it in the list!

Ian Mossner

Everybody Wants Some is 2016

Hu Main

There have already been a hundred Youtube reactions to Project Hail Mary, it's highly overrated but it is entertaining. Without spoiling anything you can tell it's the same author of The Martian, but less realistic. I do hope they react to Midnight Run, eventually.
