I heard that they didn't tell Danny anything about the episode before they called him in to take all the photos for the props, so he had no idea what was going on as they took 10,000 crazy shots of him lol. No clue if it's true tho

I was so waiting for your reaction to this one because II think it was so creative and hilarious. Danny Strong is such a talented guy, not the least of which is his emmy award winning writing. He will be back in a big way in season 6.

Fun fact! The singing voice for Jonathon was provided by Brad Kane, who was the hellhound guy in the prom episode and was the singing voice for Aladdin! This episode absolutely cracks me up!

Great one guys! This episode is just hilarious. Seeing Jonathan again is like ...what? And then he's in the opening credits! Lots of little trinkets in this that you might miss on first watch. Anya eating 'Johnny-O's' in the beginning at Giles', lots of Jonathan posters here and there in the background. It must have been so much fun creating this episode. And, still the main plot moved forward - we learned more about Adam (thanks to Jonathan), and he helped Buffy/Riley with the Faith issues.

I was sure you would love this one (and it is not true with every reactors). The fact that you identified Danny Strong since the beginning of the show (in which he randomly appears multiple times) is a interresting plus ! Yes, it is a very good episode. 4th season is strong with the funny ones.

Danny Strong's a wonderful screenwriter but my favorite story about him-- when he was about 10 or 11, he would go and visit Quentin Tarantino when he was a clerk at a video store in LA and they would hang out and talk about movies for hours and hours. This episode is written by jane espensen, which is a pattern you'll see if you look into it - she definitely LOVED writing for danny strong. Jonathan's best episodes definitely had her dna in the writing. I never got into gilmore girls, but i know he appears in the show, and that jane espensen was a writer on it, and i bet it tracks over there as well :)

Danny strong is a talented writer he wrote the movie “re-count” about the 2000 Florida recount chaos and “game change” about Sarah palin’s disasterous contribution to the 2008 republican ticket. Both movies I highly recommend.

Yeah the whole Faith/Riley thing and then this episode with magically enhanced Jonathon talking about Buffy forgiving Riley is a massive ick for me, always has been. Faith basically removed Riley's ability to give informed consent by going to him in Buffy's body (actually she removed Buffy's ability to give informed consent as well by using her body to have sex), that is sexual assault and, bizarro Jonathon wish world or not, Riley doesn't need to be forgiven for that.

It would be interesting to compare their reactions if Joe did Arcane but it might be a bit confusing for people if there’s two sets of Arcane reactions on the channel. Plus the Arcane reactions don’t seem to be getting many views which is weird since it was such a popular show.

I really enjoy this episode and I like Johnathan and always have but I have always had an issue with the twin girlfriends. I know it’s played for laughs but Johnathan used a spell to have sex with them. That’s rape. Johnathan is a rapist. It’s difficult to root for him knowing that.

I think it's bad, but a different bad than that. Unlike Xander's spell, Jonathan didn't force them into something they didn't want, he didn't change their desire and freewill. What he did was he BECAME the thing they wanted. This makes a much deeper point that is hard to accept because it forces us all to look at our own attitudes to dating. This is basically the extreme magic equivalent of Parker. Parker put on a pretence to get sex. Granted Jonathan wasn't in it for the short haul and intended to remain being the person the twins wanted. But when it's a pretense, it's not sustainable. 95% of the world does that when they date. They try to be what the other person finds attractive rather than being true to themselves. That's not sustainable which is why standards, effort and personalty then seem so different a few months into a relationship. When already in a relationship then I guess it's OK for date night to get dressed up differently than normal, put on make-up to appear different than normal, and force ourselves to a concert or restaurant we don't like because our partner who we love does. In that case then both parties are aware of the pretence and appreciate the love and effort. But when first dating we present that fake side of us (how we appear and the hobbies we're into etc) without knowing the real side of each other, and society seems OK with that. It's quite a challenging thought.

Why would you do that? I don't understand people who spoil a casting. We watch reactors because we like to see them react to the things we love. That includes their joy when a recurring character appears. No-one gets to see the guys react to your comment, so why drop a spoiler? I don't mean this to be naggy as I would genuinely like to know why people do this so I would love to see your reply so I can try to understand.

He won 2 Emmy’s for Game Change, apparently. I haven’t seen it but I did see Dopesick, a mini-series Danny wrote and produced about Purdue Pharma and the opioid epidemic. It was very good.
