This episode is largely hated but the Giles part makes me forget all of its flaws. Also, the basement is totally haunted, I trust Puppy Willow

Also for the theater kids, ASH is the brother of Murray Head who was in Chess and on the Jesus Christ Superstar concept Album. Some families get all the talent.

Willow is so cute!!! 🥰

Pam Nail

A friend of mine got to see a production of Chess with ASH playing Freddie (the role his brother originated). I am forever jealous.

Willow!!! Thank you for the adorable puppy tax, basement fears and all.

I thought this was for the original Reefer Madness. This cannot ever top the original. This is purposeful satire. The original was satire without any idea it was.

I find it particularly disturbing that old woman just got away with what she did... I suppose it is kind of realistic to real life, but it's very sad

Evil MrsLandingham should have been Rippered for sure. He took his glasses off he was considering it.

I am too lucky friend.

- This might be my least favorite episode of the show, honestly. Like every other episode, this one has a couple of things to hang on to (Giles singing, Mrs. Landingham guest starring), but the premise is a big old mess. No cool monster, no interesting lore, just apparitions and a bunch of soap opera sex. - The person who wrote this also wrote "Beer Bad," but then they wrote "Something Blue" too, which is one of the funniest episodes of the series. I guess one out of three ain't bad? - I like the detail of Willow finding Giles's crooning sexy. Last season, when Faith called him cute, Willow was the only one who didn't join the ick club. She's always been a bit swoony for him. Same, girl. - This seems like a good time to share this recording of Anthony Stewart Head singing "Sweet Transvestite" from Rocky Horror - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Uq2vaP2cLU

I just don’t understand why Xander is freaking out so much about Giles singing. It’s not a midlife crisis. It’s nice to see him actually have a hobby and doing something on his own that doesn’t involve the much younger people he normally hangs out with.

vala p

If you go down that Rocky Horror rabbit hole you should eventually come to a video of ASH and Amber singing toucha toucha touch me.

Kimba

I was watching the intro without video and heard all the giggling before I realized you were holding a dog and it was very cute. Why are pets so fun? Willow is adorable.

dys

I had no memory of this episode (except the Giles singing bit), unlike Beer Bad which I distinctly remembered for being... bad, but this one might actually be worse. Great stuff to come though

I think Adam is philosophically the most interesting and psychologically the least interesting big bad. There are fascinating teleological and ontological implications for his character, but the show isn't super interested in exploring the ideas qua ideas, so he ends up being rather inert dramatically. He's a character who truly knows himself. It sounds impressive when he uses it to see through the illusion in Superstar. It's much less impressive when you realise it's because there just isn't all that much to know.

I commented this same thing before i saw your comment 😂 but yeah, amber benson is such a good singer 😍

Erica

This episode is often paired with beer bad for worst in the series. Beer bad is at least fun though 🤷 I feel like the internal logic was a little weird, and if someone told me to touch the wall bc it'll give you an orgasm, i would walk away (if i did want ti try it, id wait till the place was empty lol, or at least only with a partner 😂). The saving grace was definitely giles singing. Willow says she used to have a crush on him, which is something ive tracked before in s1 and 2. In one episode of s1 there's a pic of willow and giles in willow's locker 👀

Mariska Costeris

I like this episode. It’s funny. Xander and Anya are good value together and of course Giles singing.

cruzinbosco

I used to skip this episode but it's actually become one of my favorites in rewatches. Xander, Anya, Spike, Giles... all great moments in this one. And the overarching story is so good! I don't get the hate for it. Definitely not as bad some others.

Suzanne Whyte

Nice to see puppy Willow. I could tell she was going to be big just from the size of her paws in the photo of her. She’s growing quickly.

HereBeMeghan

Adam is not my favorite Big Bad (also it’s REALLY hard to follow the Mayor), and yet I think season 4 has great stand alone episodes, for those character growth moments you both were mentioning at the beginning of the video. And even in episodes that are not the BEST like this one, there are still moments I enjoy. (Anya & Xander’s relationship woes, Giles singing, Kathryn Joosten killing her small scene.)

Carl Wilson

I wonder if SMG was shooting something else concurrently with this and needed so she needed to be minimized.

Carl Wilson

Murray also recorded a bunch of non-musical-theatre albums, though his only real hit I think was "One Night in Bangkok" from Chess.

Claire Eyles

Not one of my favourite episodes, and one I'm more likely to skip on rewatches. Having said that I do still find with most Buffy episodes you can still find things to enjoy, like the scene with Giles at the cafe, and the monster fight and Buffy's foot in mouth double entendre moment. And sometimes your absolute most favourite season ends up including one of your least favourite episodes, and the your least favourite season includes some of your favourites. I think people accepted a show's ups and downs back then much better than they do now, which is a pity.

Youtalkingtome

Even the weaker Buffy episodes make me smile. I really enjoyed it and my god can he sing!

Youtalkingtome

It's kind of an impossible task. No matter who the big bad was gunna be, they weren't gunna top the mayor

Youtalkingtome

Dogs are the best. I hope everyone gets to pet a dog today

Youtalkingtome

The wall bit was cracking me up. They even had a line!

cruzinbosco

She was... but uh, we'll leave at that for... reasons. 🤫

Roland

I thought there was a lot to like about this episode, even if the pieces didn't quite fit together in the end.

Nannette

I never knew this episode was so hated. I like this episode. It's dumb, but it's fun dumb
