So I totally forgot that this *wasn’t* a new season - you’re right it definitely feels like it. And agreed, I’ve had my fill of the Abigail story as well, but it works here. Plus, I did like the line “every family loves differently” - it’s like a perverse inversion of the first line of Anna Karenina: “All happy families are alike; each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way” (give or take, depending on translation). I really like the design of Hannibal’s cell. It kind of resembles that one library in Austria (?) that was the model for the one in Beauty and the Beast…which, now that I think about it, is rather fitting. Also, thank God for the two lab guys and Molly delivering bits of levity to cut through such a dark show. It doesn’t need a lot, but just those couple of lighter moments balance out the tone really well.

One of the best things about this ep was they made the Fandom name Murder Husbands canon.

We need the lab guys. I was stoked when they showed up. I love how they shoot him in his cell and how the handle the location changes. It's such a clever way of showing where he is mentally

Ever since the cancelation, theyve tried to recontinue the show. Originally the issue was that they wanted access to the Starling character, but tbh they never really needed that character to continue or do their own version of Silence of the Lambs. Martha De Laurentiis passing has sadly made the chance of this even smaller, as she was a big reason they could do the show in the first place (copyrights for the franchise is a mess honestly). Thomas Harris didnt even want to write Hannibal (the book) or Hannibal Rising. So its a franchise that will go into neglect (I fear).

The female characters are amazing. I'll forever love Freddie for calling them the Murder Husbands. As the hardcore fan, we called them murder husbands since season 1. And Bryan listened. Molly is a perfect casting, and the phone call moment when Will is using his empathy to be there with her? Chef kiss. And finally, the gorgeous Reba, so lovely and kind. She's a keeper
