Great episode guys! As many times as I've seen this episode, I only get more and more angry at Richard and Emily! The way they manipulate Lorelai and Rory is just disgusting!!! I wouldn't be going to Friday dinner or even speaking to them if it were me and my daughter that they did that to. They had no right to do any of it! How much are Rory and Lorelai supposed to take from them, before they cut ties for good? As far as I'm concerned, just because someone is a blood relative, it doesn't mean your obligated to deal with whatever crap they do to you. It's not healthy. At some point you just have to draw the line in the sand. Period.

Emily and Richard at their absolute self righteous worst!!! Emily dressing Rory up like a princess was sooo cringe and yes, that conversation with Lorelei was so appalling. Just an FYI the Yale boys that were at the party with their parents as potential mates were not the same group as were with Rory in the pool house. That lot were Logan's crew of friends and they are a fun bunch! And it was really sweet of Logan to see how upset Rory was about Dean, not take advantage of that, even though it's obvious he likes her and just rallies his friends to cheer her up. Feels like a turning point for Rory now in her life. Also Kevin, I can't believe you wouldn't enjoy hanging out with Finn - he's 'exotic' 😂😂 ... I have to skip through all the scenes with TJ in Luke's apartment on rewatch as it's unbelievably annoying and takes up way too much of the episode!! Mrs Kim is the devil indeed and for goodness sake Lane is 20 years old and a full grown adult living out of home - Mrs Kim acts toward her like she's 12 and poor Zach did not deserve her wrath!!

There's no winning with Emily. It was only in the last episode she was mad with Lorelai, asking her why she hadn't shared her relationship with Luke with her and Emily then proceeds to be incredibly passive-aggressive towards Luke at dinner. Fast forward to this episode and Emily together with Richard try to break up Rory's relationship by trying to set her up with someone else. How can Emily be mad that her family don't share details of their life with her when she tries to ruin things if they do?! That being said, I love Emily as a character, she's one of my favourites. 😂 Haha.

If you ever do wanna watch Supernatural, you could just do the first 5 seasons. That's a satisfying and complete narrative and the best part of the show quality wise (there's still some good stuff later on, but also some real duds). And it's was the creator's original plan.

Loralei is always so concerned (with good reason) about Emily and Richard manipulating Rory to get her to do what they want and act the way they see fit. And Loralei is now starting to realize, that Rory is not putting up much resistance to getting pulled in to her grandparents' world.

Lara

Love the scene at the end with Lorelai slowly realising that Rory may fit well into the world that she ran away from, with little to no resistance.

Lara

As horrible and manipulative as Emily is I swear she has the funniest one liners

Lara

Emily and Richard are allergic to taking accountability. They will never apologise or acknowledge the pain that they inflict. It's very unfortunate but I appreciate how realistic it is to real life. You couldn't change your parents when you were younger, and you definitely can't when you're an adult, no matter how much you wish they would.

Giggling this morning with coffee in my hand..."gateway food" :)

I loved your reaction to how Dean handled this. Most reactors are critical of his reaction in that moment, but I also feel sad for him and yes, he has just realized something and let himself be sad. It was a good Dean moment.

Nana

true.

Yasemin

I get it, Emily rocks. As a show character, that is. :)

Yasemin

I still love her so much, Queen Emily lol. As a character on a show, of course. :) And yes, she has the greatest one liners (and delivery!).

AD1928

It comes down to how well Kelly Bishop plays her. If another actress was in the role, I might not enjoy her as much.

I for one desperately want to see Finn’s Passion of the Christ!

Of all the unlikely quotable moments - at dinner tonight my three year old said “wait, we need to pray before we eat our pie!” And I got to explain that we did a blanket prayer before dinner that covered everything 🤣.

Youtalkingtome

Emily is brutally hilarious. I just wouldn't want to be related to her.

Youtalkingtome

It's so true. This season especially, we can appreciate how hard Lorelai has worked to protect the people she loves from her parents. It's kind of sad.

Youtalkingtome

By the end of the episode, I would have taken a road trip with Finn to Burning Man and gotten matching tattoos with him before I would have spent a moment with TJ, Richard, Emily, or Ms. Kim.

Youtalkingtome

Right? Dean hasn't been the most likeable character to me lately, but he didn't lose his cool with Rory (who left him waiting outside while she attended a party at which he never would have been welcome). He was just hurt, acknowledged that he was hurt, and left. It was the most emotionally mature act we have ever seen from him.

Youtalkingtome

You're completely right. I was really bothered by the manipulation of Rory, but then the self-righteousness with how they defended their boorish behavior to Lorelai was nails on a chalkboard to me.

Youtalkingtome

For sure, Emily is a great character, but would be an impossible relative in real life.

Youtalkingtome

It's pretty sad to see Lorelai realize at the end that she is losing the battle to keep Rory grounded.

Youtalkingtome

Exactly! Meals in general, not necessary for later courses or snacks. Keep it simple.

Gail Hislop

Hahahaha, this is the best response ever, Joe and Kevin and me too, whichever of you replied ! Finn is a blast, like most of us Aussies and Tanc Sade does a great job playing him! I always wanted a whole episode featuring him :)

SYNC note: Gilmore Girls moved to Prime Video from Netflix in the US. So anyone with prime has access to the episodes now

Koko

She looked so sad!

Koko

I learned a new English word! 😁

Koko

The scene where Rory and Emily came down the stairs to the room full of boys and Rory slowly realizing what she's gotten in to, Alexis played that so well!

fire12wife

Exactly!!! I've given Richard and Emily the nicknames... The Captain and Tennille! I picture them out on the water in a big fancy boat, drinking wine, and listening to yacht rock! Maybe it's because of Ed Herrmann's character in the movie Overboard, lol... but the name just seems to fit them! 😂😂

Jiiinx1753

OMG I was just going to ask about this! Thanks for the heads up! 😏
