They definitely had countdowns to Y2k. To be fair, it just amounts to a countdown to the New Year which happens every year, but Y2k was definitely special. I remember there were commercials the day before joking about how we might wake up in a dystopian hellscape tomorrow (by then it was reported that the issues had largely been dealt with, but there was still a nagging "what if..." In the back of everyone's minds)

On Save Tonight. Joe called it a one hit wonder band, but it is actually a guy. I didn't know this till last year, but Eagle-Eye Cherry is the guy's actual real name

My favorite bit of Larry David lore: There is a Seinfeld episode in which George rage quits his job, and tries to go back to work the next day like nothing happened, but is immediately called out and told to leave. Apparently this was inspired by the true story of how Larry David ended his career at SNL

Daniel Lydford

Based on everything I've been able to find the series wasn't cancelled until after filming had concluded. The airing of the final 6 episodes stretched in the summer of 2007 after the announced cancellation on May 14.

Knowing what we know, it adds depth I'm not sure the real episode has. I want more. It does a good job of depicting the way an addict's mind circles around. But has that at all really been foreshadowed before this? I dunno, I never loved the Newsroom version of this hallucination story, and this version feels less substantial than that.

In a different life I truly believe Matthew Perry would have been better known as a dramatic actor despite his comedic skills much like Bryan Cranston.

omg hi sweet doggy! im not sure ive ever seen them before. i wonder what this was like to play for matthew as someone who was actually an addict. i love flashbacks so i enjoyed this of course.

First time I ever saw Matthew Perry he died on Growing Pains and he's been breaking my heart every since

Paul T Hewes

-every episode of Studio 60, I think "These guys need to watch the Diplomant just for Bradley showing up..." -the made up character's name is an anagram for matt's name...

I believe this is one of the more autobioptic stories from Sorkin. IIRC, he has been known to want and write way too many episodes of his show, and genius writer he is, that is not something a human person can do with sane mind. He was late way too often, which made the production of his episodes so much tougher. From time to time, he turned to drugs for help with his creative writing process, and I imagie that would have some tough effect on his life. So, yeah, tough episode.

That's a really good observation. Friends really set him on a single course.

I still wish you would watch Sports Night. Will always be my favorite Sorkin show.

Trisha Gorrell

It's about 85 times better than Studio 60.

Roland

Brother(?) of Neneh Cherry

So clearly Tim Batale doesn't exist, but I actually was wondering if Matt's conversation with the singer even happened. It was another scene that nobody else was present for, and could've just been him working through wanting to take more pills and also being paranoid about people finding out he's high.
