Looking around my 400 sq ft studio apartment in Brooklyn right now as I watch this episode, hahaha... (I thankfully pay half as much as the apartment Mabel was looking at, but then it's not in Manhattan. It's expensive out here!)

Whatever joke rent they use in any show, someone is paying it. Avg studio is like $3,400 right now but varies wildly based on location. I once saw an apartment that didn’t have a sink in the kitchen. I once saw a place where they tried to convince us the landing halfway up the stairs counted as a bedroom with the right curtains and bookshelves. in my 20s I stayed in an apt for a decade where the hallway ceiling caved in about once a year because they didn’t raise my rent. We had a flatmate for the first year of my marriage.

I think they're exaggerating a bit on the 4800 for 400 sq ft for the comedy, that seems high even for Upper West Side. I still pay a lot less than that for 700 sq ft, though also in Brooklyn.

There's a flat on the road I used to live on in Birmingham, UK, that's going for £1,000 a month. It literally doesn't have a toilet. The cost is because of "the location", and let me tell you, that road has great connections to and away from the main city, but it is NOT £1,000/mo great! Especially when you have to walk 20 minutes to the 24/7 Tesco to relieve yourself!

Thank you for rot13 on the lads behalf, who knows, maybe one or both will choose to decode it. 🙂 It's tough, because this is a great community, and sharing and discussing the shows with such an educated crowd is a highlight for all of us. My wife and I like to try to predict whodunnits (most recently the awesome Widow's Bay on Apple). But we're choosing to do that with each other. This might not be Reddit, but this is still a public forum, its simply not the same environment. There was already a (well-meaning) spoiler on another show thread. Even if the lads were happy to crowdsource deductions for themselves, they won't be the only Patrons watching the show for the first time. rot13 offers a great compromise, I'm glad someone introduced [us all] to it. It's probably a policy that the lads should employ for all their shows. As to your own theory...you'll just have to wait and see! 🤩🤣

Actually I think there might be another solution and that's to create a dedicated spoiler thread and/or a dedicated speculation thread. By creating a couple of dummy responses, the rest of the thread can be hidden from automatic view (I think!).
