Agree with you guys that Rory’s naivety when it comes to not seeing that certain guys are into her, as a 19 year old, is a bit unrealistic. But I do love that she is smart about pranking Logan back with Richard and when he realises that, he might actually appreciate her game play as matching his. He definitely is the most confident and charming of all her suitors! I wish we had got to see a bit more of Miss Patty’s performance! Liz Torres is such a great musical comedic actress and it’s always a fun time when she is on screen. The reveal of Doyle in Paris’s short bathrobe coming out of her bedroom at 5 in the afternoon and then the phone conversation with Terence and the two of them was hilarious and I love them as a pair, they match each others energy and crazy 🤣

I went to a girls’ Catholic school and even I didn’t go that wild and crazy on college visits - or act like I’d just discovered that uniforms don’t exist in college. I think Anna has bigger problems than Chilton.

Just here to drop another piece of fun GG lore -- Professor Bell in the scene where Logan and his friends did the skit for Rory was actually the dialogue coach on the show from Season 3 to the end! His name is George Bell, and he worked with all the cast to help them memorize the lines verbatim and say them as fast as possible. I love that Amy Sherman Palladino was so intense about having her lines be EXACTLY as she wrote them and as fast as possible, that they hired someone whose full time job was helping the actors do just that.

He shows up as a professor in a few other completely different classes in the future. A nice Easter Egg

It’s finally here! Paris and Doyle are by far the funniest couple in the show for me. In my opinion, Lorelai did the right thing with the boat, just like when she kept Rory's breakup box for Dean in Season 1. I don’t believe that a good relationship is one where you just do whatever the other person says on a whim. You’re supposed to help each other at your weak points and prevent each other from doing wrong or impulsive things. Loving and wanting the best for someone is not the same as going along with whatever they feel in the moment. Luke was close to his father and there may be a time when he regrets getting rid of their boat. When you’re having an emotional or depressive day and not thinking rationally, it’s a bad time to make such a big decision. It’s not like he can’t get rid of it later if he wants to.

Hello Joe and Kevin, I think this is the right time to inform you of this. You may be interested to listen to Rory speak in this episode and compare it to how she speaks in the beginning of Season 1. This is now what we call Rory's Baby Voice. But I warn you, you'll never unhear it again for the rest of the series after you're reminded of how she used to speak. I think Alexis Bledel was getting deeper into her 20s at this time, so she started to pitch her voice higher and higher to make it seem like she was younger.

Rory being such a total swot about Yale with Anna is not totally out of character but a little over-the-top here, but that's the way GGs plotting goes. Otherwise a great Luke and Lorelai episode, a great Rory and Richard episode (that prank was hilarious - not least because it's something one could imagine Richard actually doing!), a good townie episode (I remembered Miz Patty's showbiz anniversary party as even more elaborate and time consuming, but that just shows how memorable Liz Torres made it), a monumental Paris and Doyle episode, another step in the Logan story, and another opportunity for me to feel sorry for Marty. But if he wants something to happen here, he has to declare himself and take the risk, no? Also I totally forgot about the Spike and Drusilla reference! Nice nod from ASP to the other smart cool teen show of the time.

I really, really dislike Logan’s personality and the way that he treats/speaks to Rory like he does in this episode. It’s been a long time since I watched GG, so I truly don’t remember how his character evolves with time, or even how things go with him and Rory! But right now it feels like he’s . . . trying to bully her into liking him? He IS smitten, but he really doesn’t seem to care about making her uncomfortable or feeling embarrassed.

One of the most wholesome and fun Rory-Richard moments. :)

The Spike+Drusila reference, and then having Danny/Jonathan/Doyle there is such a fun combo! 😅

Allison O

I miss season one Daria Rory.

the "butt-faced miscreant" moment is one of my favourites in this show and I love to quote it any chance I get (which sadly isn't all that often)

You just have to look for the right moment. You'll find them!

I can’t say I feel like Marty has a right to be annoyed at Rory. Rory is under the impression that guys and girls can be just friends, and he’s not asked her out in the entire year they’ve known each other before now going on year two of college. He’s expecting her to have psychic powers and know how he feels and is lashing out. I’d feel more for him if he had already had one conversation with her about how he feels. Love the Spike and Dru reference though. Definitely a nod to Danny getting more integrated into the cast via Paris.

Youtalkingtome

Doyle and Paris make a lot of sense and I never realized it until now

Youtalkingtome

No way! That's really cool. I'm glad they gave him a scene

Youtalkingtome

Marty can totally declare himself if he wants to. I think he's realizing that there is nothing there. Who knows. Maybe something will happen but I really doubt it

Youtalkingtome

We all know how I feel about Logan. He's not my favorite but he IS growing on me. Maybe he's a D bag with a heart of gold

Koko

I never heard of that or realized it. I'll have to do this, too.

Koko

I feel like that about Logan most of the time.

“Bring a book to sniff” is one of my favourite throw away lines in the entire show!
