So BBY stands for Before Battle of Yavin. The battle in episode four when the Death Star is destroyed. You guys have to watch this one episode each week, but these episodes were dropped in three episode segments each week.

-One of the big losses between the seasons was the composer of music. As great as season 2 was, and it was great, the music was not as great as it probably could have been. -The cuts between the meeting of Imperials and the rebels in the jungle was to show how rough the rebels were living at that time when compared to the Empire. -The nitwit rebels are the Maya Pei Brigade, who were name dropped by Saw in season 1. -One thing that was left unsaid was the fate of Ferrix. The Empire had begun to take a heavy hand on rebels, and who knows what, if anything, was left of that planet. -The TIE Cassian stole was almost certainly a prototype TIE Interceptor. The facility he stole it from was a corporate weapons manufacturer. -100% the dream was Dr. Gorst, the Torturer. -Erskin, the aide to Mon Mothma, was originally an animated character in Star Wars Rebels, that was brought over into Andor. -These episodes were released 3 at a time and were meant to be watched like they are movies. One right after another.

Have you guys seen Conspiracy, the movie about the meeting the Nazis had to decide on the Final Solution? The Gorman meeting was supposedly based on that event.

Not to get too political but useful context for why Andor became so popular is I believe all the sending military and ICE to places to provoke a response that could then be responded to, Minneapolis in particular coming under attack, is that a lot of the stuff that happened there, and the other encrouching dictator acts, was actually mirrored during this Season 2. So even lots of people who didn't watch Star Wars watched this show as people used quotes from the show on protest signs etc everywhere. You'll also see lots of parallels to things as you watch I think so good to have that context for what was going on in United States as the show was airing. The targeting of people on the street, the claiming murdered protestors were insurrectionists or terrorists etc. The show is an important work of art.

No supposedly about it, that's exactly the inspiration for it, the infamous Wahnsee conference. Correction: the windows behind Krennic are inspired by Hitler's mountain retreat The Eagle's Nest. Conspiracy is a great watch. https://youtu.be/52fRAzmjJoQ?is=W2Qqap-ONRYf6tm7

Tom Rand

Oh wow, Conspiracy is an incredible, deeply disturbing watch, hope it goes on the list at some point.

A good follow up to Conspiracy would be Anthropoid, which is a very good (again, quite bleak) dramatisation of the plot to assassinate Heydrich - yet another great Cillian Murphy role

Roland

I love Anthropoid, but I grew up with the Operation Daybreak movie, and that'll always hold its place in my heart

Here in Spain, we don't have a two-party system (well, we're falling into one in effect, but that's a long tangent, so let's just say we officially aren't), and the left has about 15 different political parties. We vote by selecting the paper "flyer" of the party we want to vote for at the voting table, and putting it on an envelope. Last election, someone did a mock flyer for the People's Front of Judea for the presidency, with Bryan at the head. It was so hilarious! It looked *exactly* the same as all the other flyers. I think Loretta was the Vice-president nom. 🤣

Roland

That's hilarious😍

You've heard mention of the Maya Pei Brigade in passing already: "Kreegyr's a separatist. Maya Pei's a neo-Republican. The Ghorman front. The Partisan alliance? Sectorists. Human cultists? Galaxy partitionists. They're lost!" ―Saw Gerrera rants to Luthen Rael https://youtu.be/_eHog6FekdY?is=GsuYR6L2n6SIgBWE

The TIE Cassian stole was a prototype TIE Avenger. The two ships chasing him looked like TIE FIghters, but their wings are curved, rather then hexagonal, and they're firing missiles, so they're probably TIE Advanced v1. Vader's ship was a TIE Advanced x1, the next in the development line. The Avenger was the latest prototype in that line. The video games from the 90s do a lot of lore building here, and the producers of Rogue One and Andor are obviously pretty into it. :)

Michael Bennett

What I really loved about Rogue One was just how integrated it was into the Star Wars universe without seeming like it was over the top fan service. Like they did loads of fan service, but it was all useful. Even details like firing ion torpedoes at a Star Destroyer to disable it felt like they're straight out of the X-Wing/TIE FIghter video games. So, I squealed like a little kid when the *opening shot* of this season was a TIE Avenger prototype. :D And with that out of the way, the very next thing we see is Cassian's conversation with the other rebel spy at the Sienar facility. It's another incredible piece of writing that makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up and immediately reminds us what the stakes are and why they're risking so much. I remember starting up the show and hoping it was going to be as good as the first season, and within the first 5 minutes, I knew.

Paul T Hewes

Dang it. I always get those two mixed up

Even in S1, I was getting strong ICE vibes. This administration is a shame to our country

As someone who likes this and hasn't given a damn about Star Wars otherwise since the mid-80s, I'm not at all interested in seeing Darth Vader here. That's the kind of fan service crap that ruins storytelling. I haven't seen Rogue One but I would understand if there were more interconnections there, since that's where Andor came from. Whichever way, I feel like getting excited about seeing characters you know from elsewhere is generally a negative force from the "IP" era of movie-and-TV making, relying on pushing our buttons rather than giving us good stories. I have a strong suspicion this show is better than that.

Add it to the list for sure
