Laura Dawson

Congratulations guys! This is one of the channels I’ve stuck with the longest (I joined during your early West Wing days). Partly that’s because you guys are great, the quality of your discourse is always high and this is a safe space, but the other reason is the variety of shows and movies that you watch. You never know what you’re going to get here and that’s really refreshing! And, oh my Lord … those performances! 😂

Erica

I think the first movie i purchased was josie and the pussycats, and it's fun when you guys reference in other videos lol also, I like to think that I'm responsible for buffy being covered, since i bought the movie and had commented numerous times about the show lmao (when you have the same flavor of neurodivergence as i do, you can never get enough of people reacting to your special interest)

Jonathan

I got 4 of them.

Jonathan

Thank you guys for all your hard work, some of those weeks I don’t know how you have the energy. Even if you are watching a movie I hadn’t thought of rewatching you add insight and discussion to make me reevaluate and appreciate them in new ways.

David Adler

You're welcome. Ahem. 🥸☮️📽️

Rob Bob

LOL Kevin 😂 I got four and surprised I missed one. 😜 This is by FAR the best reaction channel; thank you both for your dedication and time! Also, a big thank you for your honest, and not blown out-of-proportion reactions to plot points. Cheers 🍻 🎉

Jonathan

Also thank you to the audience on here for picking so many wonderful movies. It is so rare to have a channel where every selection is worth watching. The people buying the movies really have cut down on my watch list because they have a knack for picking stuff I haven’t seen. It makes me wonder if down the road I’ll run out of good movies to see. Congrats on 400 movies and I hope to add a few more in the coming year.

Kristi Govertsen

Three, and this might be the best thing I’ve seen on the internet today. You totes deserve awards for not only accuracy, but also for costume design. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Congrats on 400, and here’s to many more!💜

David Adler

And it is a wonderfully communal and diverse channel. From my wierdo coastal Californian POV to all others. Along with you two lovely humans, it's a great channel. Happy to fill the kitty.

Cristy

Congrats and thank you, Joe and Kevin! Also, thanks to the fellow patreons who pick the best movies. I am so pleased that picking The Hunger Games meant you got to watch all four, lol.

Peggy G

I've been here since the beginning of The West Wing & now stay because I very much enjoy y'alls take on most everything you react to. The Phil Collins mention in the quote quiz made makes want to see y'all react to Sing Street (iykyk).

Peggy G

Wait... I forgot y'all did a reaction to it already! My bad!

Clare Manion

Huzzah! 400 is a huge achievement, and you’ve built such a wonderful community along the way. This is the best corner of the internet. Congratulations! ❤️ For the movie quote quiz, I got 4 out of 5. (lol, Daniel Day Lewis eat your heart out.) P.S. Bonus points for the Latinate plural of “Fast and Furii” :)

I🖤Kraken

Thank you both so much for your hard work. You are my millennial Siskel & Ebert. You and your wonderful community have taught me so much. Discussions on art not only elevate the work but also our minds and souls. Cheers to the next 400!🥂

Suzanne Whyte

Congratulations on hitting 400 movies. I really enjoy the channel and the community and I look forward to future reactions.

Chemical Em

i love this channel because of the diversity of movies you watch and the interesting discussions always look forward to the drops every week, buffy has been so much fun

Actuarial Lurker

You have brains and taste and attracted an audience of people who can form coherent thoughts and delivered reactions with substance. There is hope for this world

Youtalkingtome

I love how surprised we are at some films we may have dismissed without seeing otherwise. I never would have expected to be as drawn in by some entire genres we have previously avoided.

Youtalkingtome

Thank you! And yes, I'm going to insist that people in my circle start referring to me as "Sir Kevin," since I am pretty much the Olivier of our day.

Jeff

I joined way back when you had started West Wing because no one else was watching it. It was so heartening to find others who appreciated such a high-quality show. Then you started "Harry Potter Fridays", and it was so fun to spend Friday evenings watching the franchise with friends. Who knew that would transform into a channel devoted to appreciating film in all its aspects. Thanks for being there for us!

Youtalkingtome

I loved Josie & the Pussycats. I have tried to get it to the screen on family movie nights, but to no avail yet.

Youtalkingtome

Thank you for saying so! The Patrons who pick movies to share among all of us do really great work.

Youtalkingtome

Right?? I am clearly a details-man!! Thank you so much for being here!

Youtalkingtome

Thank you! You're a sneaky one with that Hunger Games pick!

Youtalkingtome

I feel like I've picked up the torch of greatness since DDL retired. Thank you for everything, Claire!

Youtalkingtome

Thank you so much for saying so! We love having you here!

Actuarial Lurker

Didn't know the first one, got 2 through 5... Some alternative lines: " I been savin' this money for a divorce, if ever I got a husband." "lifeless eyes, black eyes, like a doll's eyes..." "My pain is constant and sharp, and I do not hope for a better world for anyone. In fact, I want my pain to be inflicted on others. I want no one to escape." or "Oh my God...it even has a watermark..."

Youtalkingtome

The wonderful group of people here are what make this all worthwhile. Thank you for being one of them!

acidnova

Can't believe it's 400! Wow! I believe I discovered your channel because I was looking for reactions to Fleabag sinceI'd just watched it. Saw some of your other content and eventually got sucked in! Aside from enjoying what you had to say, I really liked that you guys were interested in doing reactions to lesser-known films. It excited me that I could actually request a movie directly and see someone react to it since some other channels only do polls which, while still result in great movies, will naturally skew towards the most popular movies on the polls. That's just how polls work. So I could throw a bunch of movies at you that you've never heard of and movies that have few (if any) reactions avaliable to see. It's been a lot of fun! Adding that I got 4 out of 5 - recognized the last one but didn't get the right movie because I've never actually seen it, just that clip

acidnova

The first one was Princess Bride when Andre the Giant is wearing the cloak as they storm the castle.

Chemical Em

yelling the answers at the screen from across the world because you can hear me!

Emptysea93

Amazing and congratulations. It’s been so amazing to have been on this journey with you. Been here almost from the beginning, since you tried the first few episodes of “Happy Endings” and then “Schitts Creek” but have stayed for all of your amazing reactions. I have so enjoyed your thoughtful and empathetic insights, your humor, and the way you have cultivated such a safe space here on patreon for all of us. Thank you for all that you guys do!

Youtalkingtome

Honestly, that's exactly what we hoped for: thoughtful, rationale people to interact with in a frustratingly thoughtless, irrational world. You and others really do make this feel like a better world that we see outside every day.

Youtalkingtome

We appreciate you coming along with us so much! You and your comrades here are what makes this all worthwhile, every single day.

Youtalkingtome

Thank you for being here all along, and for your thoughtful, wonderful movies you have shared with us. Avalon is still one of the most moving films I have watched.

Youtalkingtome

We have had a blast, and thank you for sharing your movies with us!

Nick Stark

I haven’t seen a better pairing since Siskel & Ebert. Thoroughly enjoy your program. Two enthusiastic Thumbs Up 👍 👍

Kevin Biever

Congrats on 400, I look forward to watching the next 400+ with you! Also, I believe I got all 5.

Lola Lirola

Dangit, I don't know what 3 and 4 were! Clearly I have some gaps to fill! This is so lovely. Congratulations on 400 movies, and here's to 400 more! I have said before and I'll say again, really the best and most distinctive quality of this channel is the true cinephile heart in both you guys and the community here. It's so refreshing to watch unusual fare, indie movies and old overlooked classics, rather than the endless variations of the commercial canon, and get truly authentic reactions, instead of looking for engagement. I'm so glad you guys did it this way. And I want to also thank the people here for picking really great movies! I usually don't have time to comment as much as I really want to when I'm busy, but I genuinely watch a movie or show here practically daily while I make dinner, and I know it's always gonna be something quality and diverse. (Edited for typos because I shouldn't write when I'm sleepy.)

Ashley Thomas

*sets expectations incredibly high* *still impressed* i only got two of them buti am pretty sure i havent seen the other movies. 400! thats a lot of movies! i enjoy your reactions and im glad youre doing this. heres to 400 more!

Youtalkingtome

Thank you! And for sure, the people who are here with us on this channel are 100% responsible for the warm, thoughtful atmosphere I get to enjoy everyday.

Youtalkingtome

Maybe someday, we will get to watch all 27 Fast & Furious movies to see what all the magic is!

Nick Stark

You are definitely the Ebert 👍

Ashley Thomas

ive only seen the first one. it was ok. not a big thinking movie. but i saw a meme that showed them stealing the big backed tvs with the attached vcrs in the first movie and i was like damn, time to take an ibuprofen.

Statmanjeff

Only recognized the second and third movie quotes. Not a clue where 1, 4 and 5 came from. I presume I'm into older classics.

Youtalkingtome

They were from 1987, 2000, and 1979, so they might have come after your faves.

vala p

Daniel Day Lewis isn't retired, he's just living as a retired person, deep method actor style.

vala p

🎉🎉🎉

vala p

I heard you Chem, good job!

dys

Glad you guys are doing what you're doing. Joined the patreon when you were midway through season 1 of The Good Place on youtube just to get ahead and see the full reaction to the season 1 finale, then stuck around to get caught up with 30 Rock, then to get caught up with West Wing, and finally after pausing the subscription once or twice after getting caught up on specific shows I realized I was having way too much fun with your reactions not to keep up week to week. Happy with getting 4/5 :)

Statmanjeff

Don’t tell me what films #1, #4 & #5 are from. I have my suspicions, but I presume I’d simply never seen them. Here’s what I saw in the designated years (as if this information is worth anything): 1987 — The Color Purple (good & memorable), Hannah and Her Sisters (forgotten all of it), Mannequin, The Aristocats, The Secret of My Success (amusing & just what I want to see now & then (minus one disliked song)), Project X, Creepshow 2, Predator (very entertaining and loved by many), The Witches of Eastwick (I remember liking it), Roxanne (absolutely love it), Dragnet (enjoyed it), The Brave Little Toaster, White Water Summer, RoboCop (excellent), The Lost Boys (liked it), Back to the Beach (very amusing, a smiler), Can't Buy Me Love, No Way Out (really good drama), Born in East L.A., Dirty Dancing (it’s okay, don’t see why so many love it), Apocalypse Now, Matewan (really liked it but family didn’t), Fatal Attraction (made me dislike one of the actors for decades), The Princess Bride (great, of course), The Hidden (a gem for Halloween), Hiding Out, Less than Zero, The Running Man, The Last Emperor, Overboard (personal favorite), Good Morning, Vietnam (memorable), Empire of the Sun, 2000 — Drowning Mona (neighborhood favorite), Final Destination, The Skulls, American Psycho, U-571, Gladiator (3rd-rate story with objectionable lighting yet won the Best Picture Oscar), Road Trip, Mission: Impossible 2 (should have been the first Mission Impossible movie as it actually contained an impossible mission), Titan A.E. (hated it & continuously avoid it like the plague), Chicken Run, The Perfect Storm (seeing it once was enough), But I'm a Cheerleader, X-Men, Loser (liked it and wouldn’t mind seeing it again now & then), Coyote Ugly, Hollow Man (once was enough), The Replacements, The Cell (loved it), The Original Kings of Comedy (hated it & will do my part to have others avoid it), Nurse Betty (liked it), Almost Famous (forgetting it as I was watching it), Woman on Top (can’t remember much except I enjoyed it), Remember the Titans (found it very enjoyable), Bedazzled (not as good as the original), Pay It Forward, The Legend of Bagger Vance (which I call it “Baggy Pants” as it didn’t thrill me at all), Unbreakable, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Chocolat (liked it very much, recommend it), Dude, Where's My Car?, What Women Want (thought it was good), Finding Forrester, Cast Away, The Gift, Miss Congeniality, All the Pretty Horses, 1979 — Norma Rae, Take Down (one of my favorites despite flaws), Hair, The China Syndrome, Alien (found it predictable and TOO dark), Rocky II, The Main Event, Meatballs (a summer movie I remember fondly), Breaking Away, The Amityville Horror, Apocalypse Now (not one for me to watch again), The Onion Field, Nosferatu the Vampyre, The Great Santini, The Rose, Salem's Lot (not entirely good), Star Trek: The Motion Picture (a remake of TV’s “The Changling” but taking more than twice as long to tell it), Being There, Kramer vs. Kramer, All That Jazz,

Jonathan

I wish more channels followed your example and tried good shows that other people aren’t doing. It’s so nice when you find a reaction to something unique on YouTube. It seems like everyone watches the same 40 shows.

Roland

Please consider expanding your spreadsheet to include the name of sponsors. 🙂

Roland

I doubr that I would ever have bothered to watch Buffy (I saw most of Angel back in the day). I probably dismissed it as too much time investment for an inconsistent quality teenage angsty MOTW show. But I'm loving the show precisely because of this community, so smart and respectful. And Joe and Kevin are smart and respectful reactors, extolling what they love, even when the show is being an inconsistent quality teenage angsty MOTW show. So thank you @Erica for helping get the show on their rotation, and hence mine. 🙂

Roland

Congratulations on 400 movies, I hope to up my cinematic contributions at some point! If anything, I hope you guys slightly (slightly!) cut back on your (TV) output, in order to take best care of your mental and social wellbeing. Your audience isn't going anywhere, so you don't need to have this be an (unhealthy) long-term grind. I loved the quiz, genuinely demonstrates that you are enjoying the hell out of this journey, as am I, so please take the above entirely as a positive. My thought is that you can mix things up for yourselves without completely cutting the output. Maybe once a month go out into the world solo or together. You could give us a tour of Ted Lasso filming locations in Kansas City for example, or do a Zoom call with a screenwriter for one of the sponsored movies that you'd never heard of that was an unexpected delight for you. That kind of thing. I should have gotten 5 of 5 in your quiz, but I had a brainfart when you blew me away with your Jimmy Stewart impression! And I didn't need the dialogue for the last one, the three bottles were instantly enough 🤣

Youtalkingtome

Be sure to tune in to our double-reaction feature Mondays of The Office and Stranger Things! :)

Youtalkingtome

We have really appreciated chatting with you all this time!

Kimba

That was awesome. I didn’t get any of them though! I’ve mostly been watching TV reactions, gotta catch up on some movies!

Daniel Lydford

Looking forward to the next 400, and I have a list of TV shows that I hope you get to sooner or later as well.

kosmickrab

I got 4 out of 5. I have no idea what #4 was. Thanks Kevin (and Joe) for starting the channel. I look forward to spending time with you each week!

Lola Lirola

Yes, that's a great idea! Also, I'm gonna suggest something controversial, so I'll keep it hidden here in the replies: Make an "our pick" once a month (or week, or fortnight...). That way, you can also give yourselves the chance to watch something you really really wanted!

Lola Lirola

This is only tangential, but related: I love that this channel is so different and sustained by patrons, because I just noticed every single reaction channel out there watching Coraline this month, and I was kinda surprised... it's not Halloween, and Gaiman is a disgrace, so why now this one all of a sudden? And how come all the channels decided to watch the same thing out of nowhere?? ...And then I just saw today that there's a new movie coming out called "Other Mother" (no spoilers, but those who have watched Coraline will know; this new one is not in the same universe, but the phrase "other mother" is related, so). Sigh. It's all SEO. Nothing is spontaneous anymore. So I'm really glad it's not like that here! I can relax knowing your reactions are always authentic.

Jonathan

I’ll second that I’m sure they have a list of stuff they would like to see

Daniel Lydford

Thinking about this milestone again made me think maybe it's time for you guys to update the intro video on your YouTube channel now that Joe has graduated from high school. :)
