In Danny's defense, he viewed network suits as the opposition (a position I understand) before he ever dated Jordan. He's been defiant to the network since episode 1. He's been consistent in his belief that content should not be dictated by the business side of the building and Jordan even seemed to find his punk rock attitude endearing (at least when it was directed at Jack). So from his perspective he might be thinking that he won't cave to Network pressure just because he's dating the president. I can see why both could see the other as weaponizing the relationship when really they just have different professional agendas.

The last few minutes of this episode is such a gut punch and always gets me! The scene of Tom and the others running along the corridor to the booth is so reminiscent of Leo running through the West Wing and the portico after he gets the news of Zooey’s kidnapping. This is one of the darker episodes of this show and I wouldn’t really call the show a comedy, it was written as a drama with comic overtones. The ‘comedy’ of the sketches as many people observe fell flat more often than it landed, but the comic moments in the dialogue between characters and some of the set ups within the studio and putting on the show work though - last week being a good example. There was a lot of dark drama in this one, especially the stuff between Matt and Suzanne and then Danny. And of course add Jordan into this mix now and things aren’t looking good going forward. Will be interested to see your reaction to it all. Also Cal’s job is director of the show, so that includes running the control room for all the cues for cameras, lights, sound and stage direction during the live broadcast and then anything else a director would do outside of show night on a production like this, along with Danny as the Producer.

It really is a perfect parallel to that WW episode, it's shot exactly the same way. Just prior to them running down the corridor, they pulled the camera far away, and had Simon tell Tom without audio, and then they turn around and look at Danny. It's like beat for beat. Another parallel is Jordan having a pregnancy issue, and Andrea on TWW having the twins during Zoey's kidnapping.

Yes!! Both of those scenes give me chills and instant tears with the way they are directed and shot, different directors and dp’s but obviously the scene in this one is an homage to the West Wing one

Light hearted episode last week with Allison Janney, and then this! It's like the Zoe kidnapping/Mrs Landingham all over again!

Some stellar acting all around in this episode. Steven Webber was great. Bradley Whitford was great. Matthew Perry was great. Nate Corddry really got to flex his acting muscles. Merritt Wever was simply exceptional.

-The network needed to reconsider its policy of hiring thirsty lawyers. No matter how good of lawyers they are... -One of the best things Sorkin wrote was the friendship of Tom and Simon.

I *loved* Merritt Wever in this episode. She just very calmly lays it out for Matt. It's not personal, she's just seen this before. She didn't have a choice when it was her mom, but she has one now, and she makes it without hesitation or fuss.

That's a great call. It does remind me a lot of Leo running. Some episodes of this show really feel like WW episodes. I'm really into it

Youtalkingtome

Absolutely. Feels like they're really finding their stride

Speaking of Merritt Wever and speaking of the conversation at the end there (things based on true stories) I kind of want you guys to react to the mini series "Unbelievable"
