I am so happy you guys are reacting to this I’m pretty sure you are the first to react to it.

Erin Mileur

I don’t if you notice that one of the cast is Luke Kirby who played Lenny Bruce in Marvelous Mrs. Maisel

The person who plays Marty Peretz is Ted Kotcheff who is the director of First Blood (Rambo), Uncommon Valor (1983), North Dallas Forty (1979) and Weekend and Bernies (1989) among others. He is also the father of Thomas Kotcheff a pianist and composer who won the Best Original Score for Oppenheimer (2023).

Its funny you mentioning the Wire because Stephen Glass directly inspired the character of Scott Templeton.

Awesome reaction! Thanks for giving this your time! Hayden did a great job in this role!

Yes!!! You guys always pick the great obscure ones….. I love this movie so much I recommend it to another channel that they should watch it. An even being Tom cruise super fan that i am this is my favorite tom cruise film with him being an unseen unheard role as producer only.

When Hayden got cast in Star Wars I was excited. He had a decent role as a troubled abused teen in a Canadian show and he did a movie with Kevin Kline prior to Star Wars. His big issue is he doesn’t have much range on top of the bad Star Wars scripts. He stays working now still playing Vader in Star Wars projects where they mix his voice with the audio library.

I hope someone will remember his role in this and give him a chance in something else. I know he had other roles after this, but nothing major I don’t think. I love a comeback story!

Wow. I didn't know any of that! That's pretty awesome

I love that he is still getting work as Vader and has really reclaimed the role. I wish that he would branch out outside of Star Wars. He was great in this

Stephen Glass is actually just a paralegal the bar associations of California and New York refused to allow him to become a licensed attorney due to ethical concerns for his past conduct.

Peter Sarsgaard is so good in this too. I remember when this happened in real life. It was a very big story. If I recall correctly, Stephen was the second journalist from a major publication to get caught fabricating stories in a relatively short period of time.

This was fascinating to rewatch. I remember I saw it when it first came out, and how scandalous it all was... And by now Jeff Bezos owns a newspaper, headlines just say "Trump said something wild" without any pushback, news broadcasts have "send us your tweets about this" sections, blogs can say whatever and it gets picked up as a trusted search result by AI engines, we need to inspect any cute animal video online for AI interference, and people are mass betting online about how many bombs will get dropped before the weekend. This felt almost quaint. Don't get me wrong, I think it's scandalous and horrible, but I long for the days when we could get proper outraged at something like this and not *everything around us*. And when something like this was an actual career-ending incident and not just a blip. It felt almost reassuring to be back in a timeline like this.

Re: Christensen, though... I think his backlash is completely undeserved, and the vitriol he, the kid who played anakin and the guy who played JarJar was horrible, when frankly George Lucas is the one to blame for all of it. That said... I don't think he's such a great actor? Don't come at me! I think he's fine, but he's not blowing me away in this, tbh. I still think his whining sounds bratty. Which is fine for this role, but idk. I guess I want to see him have a wider range, and this could have been Episode II if you put him in some robes. (Sorry! Sorry. I'm sure the guy is a nice person. I just remain unconvinced about his talent.)
