I missed this when I first watched this due to my unfamiliarity with the planet, but at the end when Cassian flies away, you can see that he's on a jungle moon, orbiting a massive red giant and there are Pyramids. That's the reveal that this moon is Yavin 4, where the rebels will eventually build their bases in the Pyramids in Rogue One and defend in New Hope. Of course at this time it's completely wild and unknown but maybe Cassian or a survivor of the other group has spotted that hey this looks like a good place to base ourselves in the future.

Omg, omg, diva little Cyril!! I haven't seen this season, and I squealed at the couple reveal. He's so gloriously prissy, I love to hate him. Also, you can tell the actor is having the time of his life, it's great.

Lola Lirola

Dang, I didn't notice either! Great spotting!

Paul T Hewes

I imagine Cassian suggested the location to Luthen who suggested it to the other heads of the Rebel Alliance.

It was actually a massive oversight of Tarkin/Palpatine to blow up Alderaan as it was deeply unpopular and radicalised a lot of people. For a start, not everyone from Alderaan was on Alderaan. So every Alderaani in other places is now immediately wanting vengeance on you and prime recruits.

Paul T Hewes

-The Star Wars rock-paper-scissors was a great reveal. -HE WAS ON YAVIN THE WHOLE TIME. Loved that -Cassian didnt kill them, because while they are idiots, they are Rebel Idiots and on his side... -Those Imperials, the Lieutenant especially, had super creepy vibes...

Since it's 3 episodes arcs the whole season, the trope of episode 1 of 3 is the intro of the new players and setup, 2 of 3 is getting it ready for the 3 of 3 and getting the conclusion. There's some exceptions, but it's pretty much the blueprint for this season. So you may feel the second episode will be a bit of a letdown, but they were released 3 at a time to see them 3 in a row.

I'm watching another First-time watcher (he's not, but his friend is...) She said "I'll NEVER watch Star Wars", so he decided to make her watch Andor, then Rogue One, then Episode IV: A New Hope, Ep V (Empire Strikes Back), Ep I-II-III, then Episode VI (Return of the Jedi)... It worked! She's a fan from now on!

Neill Shaughness

I love how Andor has the most absurd plot this arc. The Dedra stuff is probably the most significant to the universe as a whole, the wedding is one of my favorite arcs of the series, poor Bix is once again dealing with the worst sort of Imperials, then Andor is just stuck in the woods with a bunch of morons

Neill Shaughness

That's the inevitable thing about authoritarianism. Like Nemik said, its need for control is unnatural and it has to keep escalating it's over reach until it snaps

ScarlettMi

I love that moment when you see it’s Yavin. One step closer to A New Hope.

Neill Shaughness

Perinn's not the best, but I don't blame him for thinking Tay and Mon were having an affair especially since s1 implied she had a history with Tay. Now she is conspiring with Tay and keeping it a secret from her husband. I bet a lot of people think they're having an affair. I'm honestly surprised she didn't lean into it so the empire just thinks she's commiting infidelity

The Chandrilan mountain range was Montserrat in Spain. I looked it up on Google Maps and the hiking paths are apparently real, they lead to a Benedictine Abbey.

Y’all really should watch the animated series’ - Clone Wars, Bad Batch, Rebels. Not only do they give more backstory to Star Wars and what you’ve watched so far, they are also very good, especially as each season progresses. One thing though about Clone Wars. When they were first released, George Lucas would just release each episode whenever they were done, regardless of where in the story timeline they belonged. So, if you do decide to watch Clone Wars, let us know and we can give you the correct order to watch so that it makes sense.

Talking about realistic gritty sci-fi in this, I think you guys would love the early 2000s Battlestar Galactica if you haven’t seen it.

Kristi Govertsen

It’s this arc of episodes, where I fully realized that the future rebel alliance is an actual ALLIANCE of rebel factions.🤣 Regarding the music, I personally LOVE the music for this season. There is one particular piece of score from this first, three-episode arc that I have added to multiple playlists, and there is some poignant scoring coming up later in the season that have not yet failed to make me weep (no matter how many times I’ve watched this show*). Perhaps, it would be prudent to watch the entire second season, before deciding if the score is (or is not) your jam?🤷🏼‍♀️ * Gazillions. I’ve watched this series AT LEAST a gazillion times.💜

I’m really impressed with their location scouts. I went to visit the place where they filmed the Niamos scenes a few weeks ago and it must have taken quite a lot of imagination and vision to see its potential.

Suzanne Whyte

Yes and the guys were talking about Perrin’s gambling issues but Mon exaggerated his issues and picked a fight with him in the car that time as cover for her missing money. They don’t have a good marriage but it’s not all Perrin’s fault. Mon has her issues too.

Suzanne Whyte

A Battlestar Galactica reaction would be so good but so would The Expanse since they’re both gritty sci fi shows that have complex characters and tackle complex issues. They’re also both very suited to reactions since they’re full of mysteries and big dramatic events.

I've been putting off watching Clone Wars for the longest time (partly because I heard the inconsistent quality of episodes can be painful), but I'd certainly appreciate the recommended viewing order. 🙂

I forgot to include Maul: Shadow Lord, which just came out earlier this year.

Perrin is absolutely not his wife and definitely represents the normal "rich" person in the universe. I do tend to read his wedding speech much more sympathetically/charitably. IMO he's giving his daughter and the son-in-law his best advice he is able to on how to survive a marriage neither of them chose and seem to be stuck in for the foreseeable future. It's not uplifting telling your daughter to survive a likely unhappy marriage by finding joy in the simple things and moments, but it is practical. And it does likely show how Perrin survived his own unhappy marriage, while Mon Mothma obviously pursued far more noble causes to the detriment of her own family relationships. It doesn't excuse his bad behavior, but it's as true an insight into his character as we see.
