This was an excellent season. Season 5 was on a whole other level.

Gaetano and Josto became so much fun to watch in the last couple of episodes, but all good things must come to an end. The big guy slipping and accidentally blowing his brains out here somehow reminded me of his slipping and falling on the icy sidewalk in episode 5. Ethelrida is such a great character I wish somehow there were more of her to watch this season -- or that somehow an adult version of her were to show up in a later season...

Wow! The role that random chance has played in this season is wild (as it is is by definition, I suppose). Granted, it’s always been a part of the Fargo universe to some degree, but dear God, Gaetano’s death was - as you said - shocking. And Ethelrida’s ‘checkmate’ was just…*chef’s kiss*. She’s phenomenal. Joe - I’m so impressed you knew ‘Bird’ referred to Charlie Parker! I don’t know if you’re into his music, but he is indeed fantastic. Come to think of it, a few years ago, there was an opera here in town all about him called ‘Charlie Parker’s Yardbird.’ Blending opera and jazz is often a precarious affair, but in that case it worked perfectly. If you ever have the opportunity, I highly recommend seeing it.
