OMG, I love this movie! So excited to rewatch tonight.

Thanks for watching and I enjoyed your reactions as always! I cracked up when you mentioned one of my previous picks, "Pontypool" since that's probably the most similar one to "Coherence" out of the others that I've requested so it inadvertently probably helped put you guys in the mood for a super low budget thriller. I'm so glad you guys remembered and referenced the story of Em and the other ballerina who "stole her life" as it's so relevant to the overall story. And it's a movie I find well worth rewatching to try to track when some of the changes happen. Just to add to you comments about the budget: your guess was about $3 million or less and you still way overshot! It was done in about 5 nights for the tiny budget of $50k! It was also largely improvised in a similar manner to The Blair Witch Project in that the actors were given prompts to work with. "Amir" was also one of the co-writers of the film and would help guide things along so that improvisations wouldn't go too far off-track. I also think it's interesting that some of the actors are using their actual first names or nicknames. And for funsies: here's a link to a video of Patton Oswalt gushing about the movie: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cw1fyCL-dbg

I get to be the one to say it, neat: At the start of the dinner party, the guests are already having issues remembering "things that happened". Laurie claims to be a fan of Roswell the TV show, yet doesn't recognize the main actor in this universe. Mike remembers Laurie being a yoga instructor, but the initial Laurie says she never did that and that it must have been someone else. Later on, a (different version of) Laurie says she did a lot of yoga. So there's a theory that the guests are already jumbled at the start of the movie. They've already driven through "the dark zone" to get to the house after the comet visited. e.g starting Laurie comes from a universe where Mike wasn't the lead actor in Rosewell. So the movie is screwed from the jump.

Thanks for sponsoring CoherenceI'm definitely going to check out Pontypool soon!

Omg I've seen this movie many times and never heard that theory that's amazing

This is the quintessential indie movie, it only had a budget of $50k and it was almost entirely improvised with no script, yet it's able to be very effective using just household objects and a cool story. Also has a lot of rewatch value, I noticed a lot of things that I hadn't before that hint that they're at the wrong house, like Beth and Lee talking about the plant in the kitchen a second time, Lee washing the glass that was broken earlier and isn't anymore, Hugh's phone not being broken when he's calculating the odds (even though they end up calling that one out), etc.

Never heard of this before- took a couple of sittings to watch it since it was very ADHD inducing even though I don't suffer from that....looks like it had a $50K budget and made close to $140K so it was VERY profitable for an extremely low budget film

Recent evidence suggests that a binary star system moved through the outer reaches of the Solar System about 2.5 Million years ago- and was about 1 light year away (where the trinary Alpha Centauari system is 4.3 light years away for context)- which disturbed the Oort cloud sending down long period comets. The twin system would have appeared several times larger than the Moon in the night sky and would have freaked out our pre-historic ancestors.... The whole thing about a strange matter comet is of course not scientific

In standard multiverse theories they are NOT coherent so there is only ONE copy of you after a split. The fiction IS the "coherent" splitting The glow sticks are a nice low budget plot device. I'm trying to figure out if having a marker of where you came from would mess with the uncertainty principle since it essentially means that you were already observed and the wave function could have ALREADY collapsed.

Love that it made money. This movie was a lot of fun

I had heard about this movie, but I kept confusing it with the one where a dinner guest announces he's immortal, and the other one where a couple gets invited to dinner and then people end up dead? But this was a lot more interesting and twisty and fun! I love it when people have a low budget and a good idea. I love the creativity!
