The actor who plays Goldie Hawns dad in this Sam Wanamaker is credited with being most responsible for the recreation of Shakespeare's Globe Theater in London.

This movie skyrocketed Goldie Hawns career. Although it’s in my library of digital films, haven’t seen in probably ten years. Definitely looking forward to this. Thanks guys.

Speaking of the song Que Sera, Sera Doris Day hated that song because as she said its basically a nonsense song and ironically ended up being one of her most popular songs.

It's wild that it took this long to cement her as an A-list star. She had an Oscar for a decade already, and you could tell she had "star" written all over her.

Well, on reflection, it's not my best nostalgic selection ever. The characters are good but the writing needed to be fleshed out much more-- the 3 acts were 3 good stories pressed together to make one incomplete movie. Nancy Meyers was a co-writer too. Thanks for hanging in there guys!

Fantastic reaction and wow, new appreciation for this movie I have not seen since the early 80s. But I saw it a million times back then! In 1980, the Oscars were all about Ordinary People, The Elephant Man and Raging Bull. And in general, comedies didn't usually get nominated, so I remember being slightly shocked at her nomination. Watching it now? Holy s**t, totally Oscar caliber. Also.....before "Stripes", before "Officer And A Gentleman", before "Full Metal Jacket". This movie doesn't get credit for kicking off the 80s drill sarge craze (Eileen Brennan was also nominated, if memory serves). Definitely I always felt "Stripes" was a Private Benjamin knockoff, and have always felt it unfairly overshadows P.B. (P.J. Soles is in both movies, incidentally!). PS: The acting, all around, is top notch. Back then, I took it all for granted. Now? That Harry Dean Stanton scene? Fantastic! Both actors, script, the whole thing! Totally forgot he was the recruiter!

They seemed to really like the movie! I haven't seen it since the early 80s and totally took it for granted. I loved it this time around. The acting, in particular, was superb, every single actor. Again: I totally took it for granted back in the 80s. What a deep, stacked cast. The only part that doesn't work for me so much is the actual boot camp sequence......only because it was immediately imitated throughout the 80s, starting with Stripes! But I remember back in '80, it was fun and new. Last time I saw this was probably.....1983 tops. Really happy to have seen it again. Goldie absolutely deserved that nomination.

Maybe that's what it is. I've seen so many copies of that scenario, I forgot PB was the original. My family adores Goldie Hawn and this movie too and we would repeat lines from the first half of the movie for years. But now, I'm drawn to the second half of the movie which seemed to have more nuance. Armand Assante was wonderful in this as a scoundrel.

This movie does not hold up well, unless you're a fan of misogyny being treated as a joke.

She’s sang it in the man who knew too much, which is also a Alfred Hitchcock movie with Jimmy Stewart
