Only just started, but wanted to mention - around the 9 minute mark - I don’t know if it’s intentional, but kind of hilarious to have a famously Shaker hymn sung while we meet the Christian Nationalist cult people. (The Shakers were egalitarian, pacifist, and celibate… basically the antithesis of the people we see on screen.) Post-watch addendum: Ope, never mind. Now that we've introduced the idea of a Sin Eater (historically a thing), the religious significance of things is definitely at play.... Excellent character design, though. Very 'The Northman'.

“The world is full of Gators” - Oh, truer words were never spoken. Unfortunately. Also - an exquisitely stupid name, which is fitting… If this turns out to be a season of Gator and Roy vs. the Cosmic Horror of the Sin Eater (and Dottie), I would more than kind of love that. Cold Halloween - Yep, even here, that’s how I remember it as a kid. There were several years I was very upset I had to wear a coat over my costume….Not quite as bad anymore (no snow banks), but still quite chilly — no matter how much the college kids downtown try to persuade themselves otherwise (every year brings a new parade of misguided choices).

Wales was indeed part of the Kingdom of England at one point, a fact that you should remind every Welshman at the earliest opportunity.....

Thank you!! I am unfamiliar with the concept of a sin eater, but it definitely felt very deliberate and grounded in real mythology.

Halloween is downright sultry here, so the college kids adore the possibilities. Also, what does one do to combat a guy like Munch? A cursed sin-eater, presumably doomed to walk the earth for eternity??

I am not too familiar with the political status (although we learn in the US that Wales did not join England willingly), but I think most Welsh people, to your point, consider themselves "Welsh first."

Ole Munch is a GREAT character

Only if you want to see an angry welshman become a blur...

To be fair, it was only part of the Kingdom of England for 171 years...

The Wikipedia entry on sin eaters is a pretty fun read, and you get a couple of scenes exactly like the one we see - up until the point that he becomes an immortal wanderer which doesn't seem like part of the lore.
