That last scene of Dedra has a really incredible backstory. When the first season’s sets were being dismantled, Gilroy asked them to keep just one of the prison bunks intact despite having no further plans for the location, just because he had a feeling it would come in handy. Then he was having a very hard time figuring out how to end Dedra’s story, until he realized that bunk offered him the perfect way to do it. It’s like his unconscious mind had already written the whole thing and he just needed to catch up with it.

"It's made me love Star Wars again" Yes!! Exactly this!! Me too. It's so lovely to have it back.

"For a sunrise I know I'll never see"

Speaking of funny droids. Ive always thought that C-3PO and R2D2 are basically this universes Laurel and Hardy.

I think you’re overstating what has been announced about the new Star Wars films. Disney confirmed nothing. The only thing officially greenlit so far has been Gosling’s 2027 film, Starfighter, directed by Shawn Levy. Jon Watts’ rumoured trilogy hasn’t had any details about it announced yet and Hollywood Reporter saying it would be part of the Skywalker Saga just means it’s following in the main film franchise. With the unfortunate choice for Rey to take the name Skywalker, it could simply be a new adventure that she appears in. Whether it’s actually about any Skywalkers hasn’t been stated yet.

That ending for Dedra made my mind spin with possibilities! I could see her being freed by the Rebellion along with all the other prisoners once the Empire falls, lying her way into freedom and concealing her past and then anything could happen... She could have a whole show about her finding her place into this new world (with or without a moral redemption, either way would be interesting).

While there may be some influence there, if you really want to see who they’re based on, I recommend checking out Akira Kurosawa’s The Hidden Fortress. They’re 100% a droid version of the characters Matashichi and Tahei.

Ryan

I did a fanfic about that for a while, not something I typically do but this time I just had to get my ideas for it out somewhere.

Alex von Hochtritt

Mon's husband is now seeing - probably sleeping with - the mother of their daughter's HUSBAND. He might be doomed - his (ex?) wife is leading the Rebellion now...

Daren

Y’all really need to watch many of their animated series (Clone Wars, Bad Batch, Rebels).

Yannick, from Montréal

It's not Ackbar. Same species, but his name is Admiral Raddus. You'll see him in Rogue One.

James Anthony

It’s funny you mention someone watching this before rogue one, LMReactions were devastated to learn cassian’s fate 😂

Mathilde

Hot take (maybe): Andor is the best Star Wars media, full stop. It's better than the original trilogy on the direction, screenplay, acting and overall production fronts. OK it wouldn't exist without ep 4-5-6 and Rogue One, but it's still just at a higher level of care and quality.

Sophia

I basically never comment, but now that you've wrapped Andor , I'll get my post in under the wire and thank you both so much for choosing this show! I've been looking forward to rewatching it and hearing your thoughts every single week and I am so appreciative. Watching this show when it first aired was honestly kind of unbearable because of how closely it mirrored our political climate, and this was especially true of season 2 which very much nailed the sense that fascism had become unapologetic (Mon's line about how they don't even bother to lie badly anymore has stuck with me!). To think about all this again with some distance, and also appreciate the million little details about the show I missed, has been super cool.

Yannick, from Montréal

That ain't no "side piece".... it's Sculdun's ex-wife (most probably he's been arrested when Mon Mothma escaped from Coruscant)

Daren

It was Admiral Raddus, not Ackbar. Raddus was in Rogue One.

If you want to see another reactor with someone that NEVER seen any Star Wars (Her introduction to this universe was Andor), try Kristian Harloff. https://youtu.be/SCkDdENZrh4?si=jjIGyc22vb0g_tHJ He's a reactor that's well versed in movies (he knows SW obviously), but he has a primary school friend that has deliberately didn't want to see anything Star Wars. So he tried to introduce the universe with Andor. What a success! She's seen in order: Andor seasons 1-2 Rogue One (the Andor cut) SW ep IV A New Hope SW ep V The Empire Strikes Back SW ep I The Phantom Menace SW ep II Attack of the Clones SW ep III Revenge of the Sith Obi-Wan Kenobi (the Patterson Cut, as a movie) SW ep VI Return of the Jedi Mandalorian seasons 1-2-3 Mandalorian and Grogu movie

James Anthony

Oh yeah, I watched there’s too. Just LM came to mind first since theres more substance to their discussions 😄

dys

I think Andor is just serving a totally different purpose than the original trilogy, it's like comparing Lord of the Rings to Schindler's List.

Yannick, from Montréal

Agreed there's more content with LM. But her reaction to Leia being the sister (came in episode 3 when Padme gives birth) was quite the spectacle! The order 4-5-1-2-3-6 is mandatory. And having introduced her to the SW universe through Andor has really made the difference

John Marnell

I'm imagining a scenario where the Rebels find her and decide to test some hypotheses regarding the prehensile strength of rope vis a vis a human's ankles

D Gyre

You guys ARE going to put your Andor Rewatch up here for us right? RIGHT???

Michael Bennett

That final montage hits so well. As soon as Organa walked away and the music started, I knew we were seeing the last scene in the show. Boy can Diego Luna walk, amirite? Lol. The Rebel council being so suspicious was shocking in the moment, but of course they would be, they're at their most critical stage of having actually built something big enough to be a serious threat to the Empire. I was going to quote from Nemik's manifesto in reply to another comment in the last episode, but I knew we'd be hearing it again here. :) That was a great way to let us hear it again, in Partagaz's final moments. That, plus Mon Mothma's Senate speech will live in my head forever.

trenton gragg

Andor and Better Call Saul set the standard for how to write a prequel series. If Rogue One was filmed after Andor, I think having Vel die alongside K2SO, Andor and Jyn Orso on Scarif find Death Star plans would definitely hit harder. Adria Arjona, portrays Bix, is setup to have a big career boost over the few years. She is costarring in the Thomas Crown Affair with Michael B Jordan in 2028. She is set to have a prominent role in DCU with the speculation online that she will be the new Wonder Woman.

Roland

Los Alamos. Uranium. Oppenheimer

Roland

Agreed (with dys).

Carl Wilson

Thanks so much for this watch, my first time and it was a revelation! I haven't watched anything Star Wars since the original trilogy. Which btw means I am the person who was watching this without having seen Rogue One so I had to turn off your final comments to avoid getting even more spoiled than I already am. I guess I should have gone back and watched it earlier.

Suzanne Whyte

I’ve really enjoyed rewatching this with the guys and all of you. Andor really is a special show. I’m sad that it’s over but happy that we got the show and this reaction to it.

GDF

I really love this show, best Star Wars for me. Please check out The Clone Wars too if you have time. It does have some bad episodes, but it's overall awesome and it's canon to the films. Will your Rogue One reaction be next week?

Panos

That's how i feel about the show as well.

Paul T Hewes

-Bix had to leave, because Cassian wouldnt have done what he was fated to do had he known about her and their child. He had a destiny, and it was to help save the Rebellion. -Easily the best live action Star Wars since Empire Strikes Back was in the theater. -If these characters were to continue, past Yavin, I would like to see Vel and Klaya working for the Rebels, maybe scouting for Hoth or doing covert sabotage. -Looking back, how pissed were people on the ground in Yavin, having seen all the death it took to just get the chance to take out the Death Star, for the hayseed farm boy from Tattooine turn off his targeting computer?

Lola Lirola

Lol, that last one made me laugh! Yeah, if I were a part of the Rebellion, I would have been so pissed at Luke! 🤣 But this is the problem with prequels, and that brings me to Bix. I honestly think Bix is the clumsiest tell that this is a prequel of a prequel, really. Because they had to have a love interest for the show, but then realized they couldn't carry her over because she isn't in Rogue One, so they had to scramble. And on a show as incredibly well written and considered and detailed as this, she kind of sticks out as a character they didn't know what to do with. Also, makes nobody even mentioning her in Rogue One really weird. And the scenes between Andor and Jyn Erso very questionable!

Youtalkingtome

There's definitely a case to be made. Especially if you didn't grow up with Star Wars

Youtalkingtome

Oh man that sucks! I bet it makes the ending of Rogue One better! I wish I hadn't seen it before we watched this

Lola Lirola

Oh, I don't know if I'd do that! *All* of them?? And break your own heart again?? I'd do Andor, Rogue One, OG trilogy, Last Jedi. And that's it. End in the boy with the broomstick as a symbol of hope in the Universe.

Barbara Panigot

Diego Luna performed the perfect hero's walk.
