What's the next show??

Paul T Hewes

-great great ending. -Roy deserved so much worse for how he did Winston wrong... -The daughter was, pardon my corny phrasing, as cute as a button. -David Rysdahl, who played Wayne, was GREAT in the show Alien:Earth. He is also married to the very talented and beautiful Zazie Beetz (Atlanta, Deadpool, They Will Kill You). So not only is he talented, he is lucky AF. -Munch actor is also in the "Knight of the Seven Kingdoms" show as dragon prince.

Wow, my go-to shows for the past months have been Only Murders in the Building, Fargo, and Andor. And we've blown through two of them in the past two weeks. This has been my favorite season of Fargo since 2, but I like them all. Admittedly I had not watched season 4 since it was broadcast and people like to call it the worst. But having watched it again with the two of you reminded me that the worst of this show is still engaging and entertaining. Here's hoping that Noah Hawley wakes up one morning with some free time and with the inspiration to create a new season!

This was a perfect ending. Like you were saying, we really got the best of all worlds — Dot shot Roy, Gator got his redemption, and Roy gets to spend the rest of his life in his own personal imprisoned hell. Excellent 👌 If the end had just been that, it would have been great. But it’s the last scene with Munch that made it truly special. I totally agree with all of the points you laid out, but if you’d permit me, I’d like to add one more: When Dot asks Munch, “Shouldn’t debt be forgiven?” she doesn’t wait for him to answer before turning the whole thing around and offering *him* forgiveness instead. After everything she has been through and all the reasons she has to be angry and vengeful, she invites him into a family dinner and offers love. His bewilderment, hesitance, and finally, acceptance of that love and forgiveness is the most hopeful thing I’ve seen in a tv show…possibly ever. I could have wept. Absolutely brilliant ❤️

Great point! I completely agree, and I think the final scene will stick with me forever. It was beautiful. I kind of hope they don't do another season of the show, because I think that was a perfect scene to end on.

I'm right there with you: this was my favorite season since S2, and was one of my favorite seasons of any show (I couldn't have dreamed of a more perfect ending).

Alien: Earth is definitely on our radar. David Rysdahl took what could have been an incredibly bland, flat character, and gave him so much depth and dimension. A terrific performance.

Carl Wilson

Whit's death made me angry. It felt really gratuitous - he should have known better than to go alone into that tunnel, when he had a whole army of backup to call and say "I'VE GOT THE MAIN GUY!" Especially, to be meta about it, when you're one of the few non-white characters on an overwhelmingly white show. Don't go in there, they're just going to kill you off to make the main character feel bad.

I love the ending. The Christian subtext is *way heavy-handed - "take this bread and eat it and you'll be forgiven" - but it's just such a far-out scene and Munch's face at the end is so crazy that it doesn't bother me. The thing to think about in relation to it, I think, is the pleasure we took in the mother-in-law's scene with Roy in the prison before that, which is the opposite, very much an Old Testament, eye-for-an-eye revenge - "you will feel everything your wives felt when you did it to them." I think the show leaves us with the question of which is right. If Dot's right, then how can Lorraine be? I definitely hate the winking references to vaseline and sausage - TV shows, and people in general, are always making sniggering jokes about prison rape as if it's funny, rather than a trauma that particularly happens to young and vulnerable people jailed for minor offenses. They're left victim to that abuse and come out destroyed. Sure, nobody's crying for anything that happens to Roy. But it perpetuates a mindset.

shoutout to sam spruell aka ole munch aka maekar targaryen (you guys would love a knight of the seven kingdoms & its only six episodes 😉)...he is such a good actor. man what a great ending!

Tom Rand

The Dot/Munch debt scene reminded me a lot of No Country: “the coin don’t have no say. It’s just you”.

Such a great ending. Can’t even be too sad about not having more of this show when it ended this well.
