Hi friends! We're always thinking about how we can improve our channel and make things more user-friendly for you. What ideas do you have that would make things easier to find or more organized?

We're going to start putting thumbnails on the YT edits to make them stand out more. What else should we do?

A few ideas: An image showing the release schedule :) could pin the post to easily find. Maybe the occasional poll to pick a movie or show together? I'm new round these parts so please ignore if I've just not found things that already happen. Is there a patreon chat for the community?

jimmy2k4o .

Have topless waiters and waitresses bringing your patrons glasses of jonnie walker. I’m not sure if it’s practical or ethical, I just know it be an improvement.

Nick Stark

Someone who just joins your Patreon may find it challenging to see what movies are available. Your spreadsheet is fine and all, but takes awhile to scroll through. Perhaps organizing the films by Genre or Decade. It would also be awesome if your Uncut films and TV series had their own link as well.

GDF

I think having a way to sort the pinned spreadsheet by genre, like separate tabs, would help as the list is getting longer to scroll through.

Allison O

And/or alphabetical! There have been so many now, it takes a while to see if something has already been done.

Sarahnade

Personally I prefer fewer individual posts as I'm scrolling through my patreon feed. So since the watchalong versions are youtube links anyway, maybe those could be included as a link in the uncut posts rather than a separate post on their own. But maybe that's just me and others prefer separate posts.

Yankee Veg

I've noticed the "collections" tab includes only the YouTube edits. I've seen some other channels on Patreon which have a second tab for shows including both the watch alongs and the uncut versions. Other than that, yours is one of the most user- friendly pages I've come across! I did follow one page for a time which posted all the Patreon links on YouTube, so that if you accessed them through Patreon, you could click on YouTube on the video to view it that way, the main benefit of which is that you can then cast it to your TV and see it on your big screen. Not sure how kosher that is, and i don't want to get yinz in trouble, so attempt at your own risk. I'll watch ya either way. 😉

tiramisujen ≽^•⩊•^≼

I've just joined and I've found the spreadsheet but I don't really understand how it works so I think that's a fair point 😅

rycolaa

A filter/tag for Uncut versions of shows would be nice. So if say I decided to start watching Buffy, I don't have to scroll through everything to get through it

Roland

There's so many movies in your catalog now, and I gave up trying to keep up ages ago. But there's some in there that I'm sure I would jump back and watch if you guys gave them four thumbs up. So I'd love for the movie spreadsheet to be updated with the sponsor (both for courtesy and because several of your sponsors have insanely good taste!), and either in the spreadsheet, and/or in a pinned comment with each movie, a brief score or commentary from each of you as to what you liked about the movie. I appreciate it might be difficult to say you hated a movie someone shelled out good money for, but people understand that everyone's tastes are different. (Maybe as simple as each of you giving it zero thumbs, or one thumb, or two thumbs!) Edit: I think identifying the Sponsors is a good idea, but (IMO) there are better suggestions below in relation to highlighting the movies that J&K enjoyed above and beyond. 🙂

Luis

I like this one post idea because it would also condense comments.

Sammy Fan

The Movie spreadsheet could be split into two sheets "Watched" and Upcoming" That might be more user friendly but it could be a pain to move th titles from upcoming to watched.

Sammy Fan

I have always wished in addition to buying a movie we could buy the right to create a poll. I can never decide which movie to buy but I have at least 8 "You should see..." movies. If we bought a poll members could decide and the winner would be a more popular choice and get more views.

Sammy Fan

As West Wing fans we would only accept Johnnie Walker Black. Leo tells us it's aged in oak barrels for 30 years. That has to be one of the greatest product placements in a TV show I've ever seen.

Sophia

It would be great if you added an “Admin” tag for meta posts like this. And perhaps an additional tag for text posts, discussion posts, basically anything that doesn’t include a video link or a poll. (Assuming this feature doesn’t exist already?!) I’ve come across these types of posts mostly by accident and it would help to have them in one place. I assume it would be way too much work to tag posts retroactively, but this would make it easier to sort through stuff going forward.

tiramisujen ≽^•⩊•^≼

I'm new here, how does picking movies and shows work? Personally I have never liked the buy to react model.

2026-10-19 10:00 For visual simplicity and to make viewing easier on the eyes. Would you consider having just a black background? The white wall behind you both looks a bit drab. Not to be insulting. Your channel deserves to appear like you’re broadcasting from a studio. You two remind me in many ways of the film critics Siskil & Ebert.
2026-10-17 15:38

Kristi Govertsen

Not so much for us as viewers, but here are two thoughts to help make things a little better for you and the growth of your channel. *Maybe an overlay (or written credits) at the end of your super patrons, that you can update as needed. Not that we don’t love you guys saying our names aloud with your fantastic radio voices🙂, but if your plan is to scale, at some point it might become impractical, unwieldy, and too time-consuming to keep listing us verbally. *Also, maybe live Q&As and/or live watchalongs? This could add value to your current tiers or to one tier to motivate member upgrading. This (or some other viewing option like staggering who gets to see what and when) could also provide additional differentiation that could allow you to create additional tiers.

jimmy2k4o .

Actually Mr McGrath was describing Jonnie walker blue the godfather of them all. However the exact number of years jwblue is distilled for is a trade secret. Jonnie walker black is a good substitute. As Christopher Hitchens said “jonnnie walker black, breakfast of champions. Accept no substitutes”

Emma

A tag or collection for uncut reactions!

Sammy Fan

Let's say I buy a poll, as a member you get the chance to vote on the one you'd most like to see.

I🖤Kraken

I love your model as is. Just a weekly TV show schedule would be nice. Thanks for asking!

Guy Francisco Polin

That's a tough one to answer since you guys totally rock compared to most other reactors.

The Inedible Mattman

I wish Patreon had a tile view for posts. This site feels a little "Tumblr circa 2011" lol

Suzanne Whyte

I don’t know if this would create too much work when editing but when you do an uncut reaction to a movie with subtitles your reaction box covers them and makes it difficult to follow the film. If you moved the box to the top of the screen we could still read the subtitles.

acidnova

I noticed that the way you label tv series is not the same for each show. Some shows use "season 1, episode 1" format and other shows use "1x1" format. It might be a good idea to decide on which format to use for all shows going forward. And (particularly for youtube) I think you should include episode titles. I know when I search reactions on youtube, I'm more likely to search by a show's episode title rather than the episode number. Especially for standout episodes of a show like "Ozymandias" from "Breaking Bad." Just easier to remember so that's what I search. Might help you land more new viewers for the channel.

tiramisujen ≽^•⩊•^≼

I’m just in the camp of- if I’m paying a monthly subscription I should be allowed to vote in polls. I guess I don’t like the purchasing reactions models because I think it creates an unfair model for those who don’t have more money. It wouldn’t necessarily encourage me to stick around if there’s little to no chance of the popular vote winning. Regular polls should be a thing, if they’re not already that is

acidnova

Welcome! The spreadsheet was added after many of us who were buying movies were wondering why it was taking so long for them to watch our requests. It's a nice way to see not only how many movies are in the queue but to see what movies have been purchased (or voted on via poll). We're a very eager group when it comes to purchasing movies for them to watch and they have at least 5 months of backlog to get through! So it helps us be a bit more patient in waiting for our requests to be reacted to!

Matt CN

Tv series - you pick it we watch style. Would have to be a short series - like up to 10 episodes.

acidnova

I also think you should have a pinned page for new viewers on how to buy movies. It's the most common question I've seen asked so a guide for newbies would be helpful.

acidnova

They already have regular polls.

Lola Lirola

I already see a lot of people saying it, but: An Uncut section/tag/playlist for shows and an Uncut Movies (separate from shows) section/tag/playlist. Mostly because after dinner I will just browse to watch a movie with you guys here, and the Uncut ones are nowhere to be found. So I have to browse the watch-alongs, pick one, and then search for it uncut.

Sophia

On the subject of the video background, I know literally nothing about growing a YouTube channel but I get such a kick out of seeing Toby Ziegler presiding over every video! 😊 I think upgrading to a plain or more professional background would be perfectly fine, but there is so much soulless homogeneity in YouTube reactor backgrounds. Joe and Kevin, I’m going to freak out if you end up with an excessively RGB-backlit wall with hexagonal light panels and floating Funko Pop shelves!!

Suzanne Whyte

Adding the episode title is a good idea. If it’s a show I’ve watched before I might not remember which episode it is just from the episode number but seeing the title usually lets me know if I want to stay up and watch it or watch it the next day.

acidnova

I also want to praise you for NOT playing music during your intros/outros. Nothing puts me off faster than when a youtuber has music playing while they're talking. It's extremely distracting and I have such a hard time following what they're saying and will just stop watching. So thank you for not falling into that extremely irritating trend!

Lola Lirola

A weird nitpicky, but probably helpful one: I would stop saying "you'll need your own copy" in the intro. I have personally avoided joining patron channels that only have sync-your-own options, because I often watch somewhere where I can't do that. So, if I didn't know you, and came across a YouTube video of yours, and you specifically said I would need to sync my own copy, I would not even bother to look into the Patreon. Does that make sense? I think if you stop adding that bit (which is no longer true anyway), probably more people will be inclined to check it out.

acidnova

Yeah, it's a shame Patreon itself is so limited.

tiramisujen ≽^•⩊•^≼

That would be encouraging people to join without knowing what the options are. If sync-your-own was a problem for me I'd like to know that before I spent a monthly subscription on it. Seems like a recipe for people asking for refunds

Yannick, from Montréal

I ADORE the live Q&A and the live Watchalongs. Yes, it's a marketing purpose to boost higher paying members, but it's entertainment for all of us as well, and there's a cost for higher quality.

Yannick, from Montréal

Either a monthly preview of what to come, or a weekly (an image will suffice I might add). Seen it in many other reactor Patreons I follow: LM Reactions, Badd Medicine, Hold Down A, FunnyLilGalReacts, etc. and it helps to plan our watching schedule. For people that can't find the Uncut version, just use the search bar and write the show you want, then scroll. It's not as tedious as you think ;-) But a category with uncuts only will be the definite answer.

Yannick, from Montréal

The Siskel & Ebert analogy is quite on point. This is good quality content, might as well show it on the screen too.

Lola Lirola

As well as what Acidnova said, I can tell you how it works! The spreadsheet just lists the movies in the order they get purchased/voted on. You will see: - Movie title - Movie release year - Whether they've already watched the movie on the channel yet or not yet (this is important, I'll explain below) - When they watched the movie - If there's an Uncut version (Yes) or only a sync-your-own version (No) (this is because Patreon didn't allow full movies/shows before, so for the movies they watched at the beginning, only the reaction screen was uploaded) - Source of the pick, whether it's a poll winner, or someone purchased it for them to watch, or Kevin couldn't sleep and just watched it So, you will see that many "later" movies that are further down on the list appear as "already watched", and this usually confuses new joiners (hey! welcome!). But if you check the Source column, you'll see it's poll winners or insomnia cinema. That's because we purchase the movies via DM, so in between each poll they do, people will have already bought several movies 😅. I usually check where the "Watched" blue color is continuous, so I know roughly where we are on the watch schedule and what's immediately coming up, and then I check at the end to see what new things people have bought, and get excited for... a few months ahead!

Lola Lirola

The thumbs up issue can be mitigated by just having a baseline of two thumbs, and maybe only giving extra thumbs up to the ones they *really* loved. That way, there's no bottom tier, just a few select ones rise up to three or four thumbs as a sort of extra accolade, but none are signaled as "didn't like". Or like, put a star on the ones they consider top-tier and that's it. (Just spitballing, this may not work in practice, idk) Putting the name of the patron is a great idea as well!

Lola Lirola

They already have polls! I think they're bi-weekly, don't take my word for it, but there definitely are! Oh, and the unofficial chat for the community is the pinned post with the excel list. By now it's an enormous amount of comments, so make sure to sort by "new" to see what's happened lately!

Sarah P

Yes please! At the moment you can go to the search bar and type “Buffy season # uncut” but the filter would be amazing!

Sammy Fan

Yes, but they pick the movies on the poll. What if one of us could pick all the movies on a poll?

Lola Lirola

Having experienced channels that are poll-only (most of them), they end up becoming mainstream pick after mainstream pick, simply because it's what most people already know. This is not a diss, honestly I also vote for things I already watched because I know what they are. But when you have hundreds of people doing that, what ends up picked is simply the most well-known movie. Also, for example, it creates a lot of gender and age bias. I remember a channel where they've put When Harry Met Sally on their polls for months, but it doesn't get picked because most younger millennials haven't heard of it, so they vote for worse movies just because they know them. It also usually ends up skewing mostly male in the picks, and that's exhausting. So I love the mix of things people purchase here! It gives us the opportunity to watch hidden gems and obscure titles and a very eclectic mix of things, and to me that's an added value that it's well worth the subscription fee! (Also, they do have polls, but honestly even if they didn't, the purchased movies here are impressive)

Lola Lirola

But they don't exclusively need to sync your own anymore, that's my point.

Fervent Fox

more polls and current movies.

Youtalkingtome

We have stopped saying it on some things, mainly for the shows that we have uncut versions for all the episodes. Shows like Gilmore Girls that we started before posting both versions, they still need to sync to watch along.

Lola Lirola

Ah, okay! It's just a weird nitpick anyway. Just take what's useful!

tiramisujen ≽^•⩊•^≼

The other reactors that I sub to (DNTV if anyone is interested) create suggestion posts, they pick the movie genre (for example 80s movies, hidden gems, oscar winners, movies)and the patrons make suggestions. The top 10 suggestions with the most likes then go into a poll. I really like that method. If the purpose is to make suggestions to help the channel grow either in patreon subscriptions or YouTube subscriptions having more engagement with Patrons and a good mix of content is key imo.

KATATAK

Hey guys, love your channel and love being a member! Would be great to have the time codes of the movies or episodes running on the bottom of the screen so it's easier to sync up. Also, if you could make it clearer how to purchase a movie or show for you to react to. I do see something in the Shop area that's $129 but not clear on what that includes or how the process works. Thanks and keep up the awesomeness! :)

Scott Steiner? I hardly know her!

Others have stated it but as an Uncut reaction watcher exclusively, a separate playlist or tag would be very appreciated

P

Please no AI thumbnails. They all look horrible and they all look the same.

acidnova

I wholeheartedly agree with adding a column for sponsors. But I'm not sure about the thumbs up/rating idea. Maybe there is a way to do it without inadvertently hurting the feelings of the patrons who purchase the movies. I'm just not sure it sets a good precedent, particularly in a space that is so welcoming to all different kinds of movies and not just the most popular and well-known. As an alternative, I suppose I would not mind them doing a "pick of the month" or something where they call out one movie per month that really stood out to them. I feel like it would be less likely to cause hurt feelings since they do so many movies per month already so it's not like scrolling through a sea of thumbs up and then your movie doesn't get the thumbs up.

Roland

Pick Of The Month is a great idea! Additionally, they could have an "Unexpected Banger!" (or somesuch), award for an amazing movie that they didn't see coming, because of genre, or cast, or tagline, etc.

Actuarial Lurker

This is the most prominent suggestion I would have as well

Actuarial Lurker

Agree...most other tiered reactors have a Star Wars style scrolling patron list at the END of the episode...with the highest tier first, etc

Actuarial Lurker

The spreadsheet was my suggestion a little over a year and a half ago since I have seen it used by a few other Reactors who listen to music or movies..... ..Since the spreadsheet IS a spreadsheet the question I have is whether the Patreon platform permits you to "tab through" a multi-sheet workbook or if you are trapped on the single page that you have. You currently have the workbook in read only mode to prevent edits. I wonder if there is a way to leave it as read only but still have the patrons filter the columns...or to create MORE tabs, the first one being the one you have in chrono order, the second tab being a copy of the first but in alpha order if the users cannot interact with the sheet, and tabs 3 and later being by category and alphabetized: action, comedy, drama, foreign, rom com, sci fi, etc. That way when you add each film to the master list on tab 1, you could just add it to tab2 and re-sort tab 2, and then stick the film on tab 4, 6 , 8 etc based on its genre. The alternative could be if the worksheet is read only but downloadable so that the patrons can just load it into excel, numbers, google docs etc and do their own filtering and save YOU work...

Nihidea

Yes that's what I was going to say too!

Actuarial Lurker

In terms of Patron Credits, your set etc you might want to check out these 2 guys from Ohio...watch the YT video from 39:06 and later They are watching Star Trek in chrono order. You''l see that they have a Star Wars like patron name credit roll at the end so they don't ahve to read out all the names and they list ALL the Patrons by tier order. They also have a "set" where they have Star Trek "stuff"- posters, action figures, ship models and patron donated dvds and book etc on the shelving in the back. Finally, they use the Patreon chat room feature = THAT THEY DO NOT READ UNTIL AFTER the reaction- they scroll through the "hot takes" and debate them as a final part of every reaction...this may be a bit advanced since the wife of the heavy-set guy Josh films and edits and their top tier patrons have Moderator status to censor the hot takes and the non-spoiler chat room Of course a main question is whether Kevin wants to "dedicate" a room with wacky decor in his own house to be that garish https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kL2Iqrac7B0

Nihidea

Yes! It's kinda sad that there's two separate comment sections for the same episodes/movies, it would be nice to be able to see everything in one place

acidnova

I have a potentially unrealistic suggestion but I wish there was a place for spoiler discussions (maybe a chat?) that would allow those of us following on tv shows to be able to freely comment about future stuff. However, that would probably have to be unmoderated due to spoilers and having an unmoderated space could be a potential problem. As it is, using things like rot13 in some of the show threads is a bit useful but due to the nature of having to use a separate website for decoding, it doesn't lend itself super well to discussion. There are so many times on various shows where I'm sure many of us wish we could talk to each other and say, "I can't believe they said 'xyz' when we know 'xyz' is going to happen soon" etc.

Daniel Lydford

Have you considered starting a Discord? It would allow for more robust discussion of movies, and TV show, and put the discussion all in one place for each show rather than split between multiple episodes. Also, the movie spreadsheet could be posted as Google doc link, and that would allow people to search, and scroll a lot easier.

Actuarial Lurker

They would need some Moderators to censor out spoilers, scammers, and weirdos with a Discord. LUckily they only have had to kick out 3 or 4 people posting racist, anti-trans and other garbage from the comments but Discords tend to attract the wrong kind of people

s

maybe a weekly schedule

Actuarial Lurker

Patreon HAS a chat feature that they don't use. In my other post where I clip out a segment of the Target Audience's Star Trek channel that other set of reactors have a "spoiler chat" as you suggest, a general chat for channel suggestions or questions, and a "hot takes" chat where patrons post their own comments that might wind up on air as part of the discussion at the end. They also have a "buy a hot take" feature where you can send an audio or video clip in and they play it on air as long as it has been screened by their moderators for spoilers of future Star Trek epsiodes and does not contain hate speech, personal attacks etc...

Youtalkingtome

We add the episode title in the YT description. Is that helpful?

acidnova

I did a quick search on youtube for your reaction to a recent episode I know you did and I was able to pull it up searching the episode title so that did work.

Actuarial Lurker

You found it... they charge $US90 which is $CAN 142 or another value in your local currency to request a reaction. The master listr is the list of such requests...they add you first come first served to the queue unless the movie is special- Christmas, Halloween, etc and then they try to move it up to synch with the real time calendar month

Yankee Veg

Although I do like to hear Kevin try to read them all in one breath. 😂🤣😂

Youtalkingtome

I added new tabs to separate the movies by decades. Everyone should be able to navigate thru the different tabs. I also sorted the full list by alpha order.

Actuarial Lurker

Just scrolled through your new tabs and the users ARE able to click on the links at the bottom to change tabs which are now alphabatized- so it worked...

Actuarial Lurker

BUT now if you are a purchaser or a new film OR just interested in what comes next the alphabetization of the first tab removed the ability to see the upcoming queue and guesstimate that "film X is 11 films down so will be on the channel in N weeks". Since you "liked" the comment about having a weekly schedule then perhaps if you do have a pinned comment with a calendar on it you can meet that request and not lose the info on the queue inherent from being unsorted

Hu Main

I love this idea, I've actually considered requesting this when purchasing a movie, just listing several and asking you to choose one (or a poll from viewers to choose). I always assumed you would be agreeable it I requested it, but as a listed choice might encourage it, and user polls are always good for getting more participation.

Tina

I actually love all the stuff on the wall, the only bad thing about is when things are out of frame sometimes, like the Buffy pic. Just my personal opinion though - I would miss Toby, especially. It's peak TV nerddom and I love it so much!!

Actuarial Lurker

Pumpkincarvingjen- they DO have polls but ahve been so swamped by the purchased requests that they have a 4-5 month backlog of films and have had fewer chances to slip polls into the mix...they even had to raise the price of the requests to try to slow down the queue since Kevin edits all the films and they don't have any employees or outsourced help. We had a long debate about a year ago over whether purchasing reactions was fair, if raising the price created a snob class that dictated the content etc. and they decided with our agreement that this is a pretty civil group and the requests are diverse... I agree with Lola that many reaction channels are full of 25 year old "bros" and the polling quickly devolves into John Wick part 6 versus Fast and Furious part 8 with no "chick flicks", romcoms, foreign films and the comments turn into post-Elon purchase of Twitter/X with racist, sexist, homophobic, anti-trans and other flame wars... so far they've only had 3-4 trolls in the past 18 months posting gate speech into the comments and within 2-3 hours they were banned. What I HAVE seen work is the idea of "consortiums". There is a channel called Vin and Sori who are two Christian Fundamentalist "home schooling" Trump supporters who happen to be Heavy Metal fans....I stumbled upon them despite being opposite to them politically and watched their channel for a few months to see how they might react to "devil music". THEY also charge $90 to get a music reaction video BUT combine this with "consortium polling" which allows a coalition of up to 20 people to throw in $5-$10 each to joint purchase reactions. They post live streams with the chat on and people will vote $x for the poll choices and once they get the $90 of super-chats for song X they will do a reaction....

Tina

Seconded. I think you're the only reactors I follow that don't have annoying background music on - no wonder I watch stuff with you that I don't bother with with other reactors.

Youtalkingtome

Slowly, but surely, I'll get them all tagged. But to start, there's now a "Movies - Uncut" Collection.

Youtalkingtome

How about a nice new tab for the A-Z list, but we keep the 1st tab in the order they were added?

Actuarial Lurker

Perfect....so tab 1 is the original, tab 2 is A-Z and the others are by decade AND a-z

tiramisujen ≽^•⩊•^≼

I will likely only stick around if there is a tv show that I watch which is being reacted to, at the moment that is Gilmore Girls. I found the channel through Marvelous Mrs Maisel reactions as I agree it’s criminally underrated. Personally I’d have voted against Harry Potter reactions for obvious reasons

tiramisujen ≽^•⩊•^≼

I’m subbed to another channel which had a Google sheet for suggestions that unfortunately got vandalised within 24 hours of starting their discord server. It’s a real tricky one to manage access to

Cristy

Or even just a group chat here on Patreon (including a spoiler chat so the guys know not to go in there). A few channels I follow do that and it's really fun to interact with everyone.

Cristy

Agree wholeheartedly with a chat on Patreon, including a spoiler one so the guys know not to go in there.

Daniel Lydford

Discord channels can be kept private & only accessible by purchasing the Patreon membership - not a perfect solution but even on Patreon we've had people purchase memberships just to post hateful comments.

Daniel Lydford

Google docs can be set so people have read-only access - if someone purchases a membership they get access to see the document, but have not ability to edit the document.

tiramisujen ≽^•⩊•^≼

I wish patreon would stop muting video posts as default, I have no idea why they chose to do that

fire12wife

If there could be a way to alphabetize the movie list or to have both versions of the list, would make it much easier!

cruzinbosco

Yes!! I would love this. Sometimes I end clicking on the wrong post and have to go find the one I meant to watch. And as stated with the comments being split, I feel like I am only involved in half the conversation because I know people are also commenting on the other video. But I am not going to go look at all the comments on the other one too so I miss out. 😂 Having both video options in one post would be AMAZING.

Actuarial Lurker

Safari, Chrome and FireFox all have protocols that BLOCK unmuted auto-play videos until a user interacts with it so that users don't get an "ear blast"...so all platforms like Patreon inherit that by default

Actuarial Lurker

They just did...tab 1 is the original list, tab 2 is alpha, and tabs 3 and later are decade of release and alpha

fire12wife

Thanks, I missed that! That's a big help!

Kt B

I personally think it’s smart not to have a collection of Uncuts, since they violate copyright and could result in a ban. Not making them super obvious and easy to find is a better way to fly under the radar, IMO, especially because you can still find them easily if you just use uncut in your search term.

Kt B

Everyone can vote in the polls, regardless of tier. So far, what they have been doing is putting out themed polls with between 8-12 choices several times a month and then watching the winner. That way everyone gets a say in some things. The theme might be “Halloween Movies” or “Underrated Action Movies” or “Best Cinematography Winners” or “Pixar Favorites” or “Audrey Hepburn Classics.” They vary widely in scope, theme, and content, and they’re often populated by titles that patrons have mentioned previously, like in the comments of other polls or movies. I think the Buy-A-Poll option being proposed here would be that a Patron would get to choose the poll’s theme and which movies to put on it, and then all patrons would vote on it to test which of the titles generates the most excitement. The key here is that, at the lower price point, there would be no obligation for J&K to watch any of them, but it could raise excitement for getting something previously not discussed onto an official poll. In addition to that, the model of buying movies is a very important source of income to these creators and helps reimburse them for their time editing and posting so much content, when they both have limited free time. Although I am also conscious of the disproportionate influence wealthier patron could have on the watch list, I have been very impressed by the variety of movies this option has given us. Some people choose things they know are popular that they consider essential viewing for J&K as developing cinephiles. Other people choose more obscure movies that they think are criminally underrated and this particular audience will find intriguing and worthwhile. I personally can’t afford to buy a movie, but I have appreciated many of other people’s picks. The major criterion is that it has to be a first watch for both creators, so there’s a spreadsheet posted to help guide people about that. As a result, although we all love Die Hard, no one can buy it because they’ve seen it already. I hope that helps get you oriented. If you’re new, but you want to have an influence, get in the comments of the things you’ve watched and make relevant suggestions or like other people’s comments to add weight to their suggestions. Kevin reads all the comments.

Kt B

Please be aware that if you’re using an iPhone, Apple adds a surcharge to all the things you buy. It’s $90 USD to buy it from a laptop/desktop/Android phone, and $129 to buy it from your iPhone, and the creators get NONE of that extra money. They have explicitly encouraged people to avoid making the purchase with an iPhone, as has DropOut and Nebula.

Roland

Yes, it's REALLY frustrating! 🥶

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Although I appreciate the Uncut versions and watch them myself, they do violate copyright. If, in the YouTube videos, there’s a mention that you can watch the full version without syncing, that’s a red flag for corporations who are hunting for people who violate copyright. All they have to do is buy a membership at the lowest tier, document the violations, and petition Patreon to ban the creators. The Patreon dispute resolution process is opaque and not forgiving. Creators avoid this by flying under the radar and not making it widely known this option is available. Ultimately, it’s up to J&K how they want to market and manage their channel, but I’m in the camp of “caution above all.” I agree, though, that it probably has slowed their growth of Patreon members.

I assume it's a limitation of Patreon, or maybe I just haven't pressed the correct buttons, but I'd like the option to be notified when a particular thread has an update. There's always someone new catching up with (say) The Americans a year or two later, and I'm always interested in hearing new opinions.

I’ll add my voice to having a graphic with the Super Patrons. I don’t feel strongly about displaying the names for the rest of us, but you race through the reading of the Super Patrons’ names, and I can’t even understand half of them. I appreciate them and think it would be helpful for all of to be able to celebrate them appropriately. Also, I’ll second the standardizing of Season 1, Episode 1 versus 1x01 to help with searches.

Jamie Morgan

I second putting the names on screen. It's always nice hearing an acknowledgement of our support, but at this point there's so many of us (and there will probably be more!) that I tend to just skip through them now - which probably isn't doing their runtime figures any favours.

Jamie Morgan

That would be a Patreon issue. I just double checked to see if they have an option to get post notifications, and unless I just can't find it, I don't think they do. You'll only get notifs for replies to your comments. Seems like a silly oversight.

My only contribution is that I think your window should be smaller in the uncut versions. Maybe a third. Maybe half. I do want to see more of the picture.

Suzanne Whyte

I was actually half convinced that Kevin was repeating names because the names started to sound the same. I was nearly at the point of slowing down a video and actually checking each individual name because it was driving me a bit crazy.

Lola Lirola

Yeah, you're right. But then I would avoid explicitly saying you have to sync. Like I said, I have deliberately avoided channels where I have to sync. If they don't say anything either way, people can just check the Patreon (checking is free) and see for themselves. Or not, really. This is just thinking out loud, they don't have to do what I say!

Lola Lirola

I laughed at how accurate this description is! I think if they simply frame and center the posters it's more than enough! I agree it's got much more personality than the funky pops

The thumbnails are a great idea, I think a lot of people, particularly younger viewers, are straight up never going to click on a video that doesn't have a good thumbnail. And I know it can feel a bit distasteful but adding a hook to the beginning of your video title ('we couldn't believe this twist!' 'no way!!!!' 'we watched THE EXPANSE for the first time and were BLOWN AWAY' etc etc) can help grab viewer's attention. People really are used to that kind of stuff and don't find it nearly as grating as it feels when you write it out. And yeah I personally like your posters and stuff but if you're trying to attract new viewers a more professional studio like background can influence people to think of your channel as more established and reliable.

NyzoiB

I think this has to do with the fact that technically this is a grey area regarding copyrights, and it's wiser/safer of them to not tag the uncut posts. Because they're "not" allowed to put the actual full videos on their own recording - they do it for our convenience and can put the notice of us having to own the material in order to watch, but again this is a grey area.

We just created a spoiler group chat. It's our first time using this feature so let us know if it works!

"Oy, with the poodles already!" I love that stuff!

For visual simplicity and to make viewing easier on the eyes. Would you consider having just a black background like this one? The white wall behind you both is a bit distracting. You two remind me of Siskel & Ebert and your channel deserves to appear like you’re broadcasting from a studio. .

Also generative AI is bad for the planet, environmentally (at the very least). So the less we use it, the better imo.

Idk if this is possible considering how far into the future movies are booked, but if it was possible to include an approximate date in the spreadsheet of when to expect to see each movie reaction go up?

Rini Rikka

Hi! I'm new here on Patreon but have been watching your reactions on YT for months (Community and Downton Abbey made me subscribe, I want to see the uncut reactions) :) As a newbie, I love the movie spreadsheet and how it's organized! Well done, I've already found several movies and watched your reactions here. The one thing I miss though is a similar spreadsheet for TV shows. And you don't need to specify the episodes I think. It would be perfectly fine to have an A-Z list of the TV shows you've watched or are watching and the current number of watched seasons next to it. Also, maybe appoint a post or a thread to collect suggestions for TV shows (with a deadline). You can then decide which ones and how many land in the next poll. But maybe it could be easier for you as well to see what your members really want you to see :) And pin it as well. For the newbies it's just a self-explainatory system then, how they can chip in with their suggestions. Maybe you can also do a short live stream on YT with Q&A from your Patreon members and live chat then. It would be an opportunity to show the spreadsheets to YT-viewers and explain what they get on Patreon and how to donate for the movie of their choice.

Rini Rikka

Have you ever had a contest among your viewers on what goes onto the wall behind you? Maybe as an idea to celebrate your new round number of subscribers :)
