My therapist told me my need to please people stems from growing up with unpredictable, critical, emotionally unavailable parents where love felt conditional on good behavior and achievement. That guy's an idiot. I think I'll buy him a humidor.

I’m glad you’re going to watch Rogue One.

Chemical Em

mary and max or the jungle book!

Roland

How they made a movie in 1936 about a WW2 tank crew I have no idea, but I'm eager to see who's playing the Brad Pitt role!

Roland

Voted for some older ones, these opportunities don't come around very often!

Cosmic Slice

Omg...either The Lavender Hill Mob or Sorry Wrong Number need to win!! I would prefer the latter as we need some noir on the channel. Haven't seen it in ages!

Paths of Glory is a fascinating film. Brilliantly acted (although I think Kirk Douglas, who was instrumental in getting it made, chews up the scenery in the last scene in a way not consistent with the rest of the movie) and brilliantly shot by Kubrick. Many call it an anti-war film, yet it is really an anti- institution film, probably more in common with One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest than in Full Metal Jacket. I really love it.

LHM opens up the front on those 1950s-60s British cinema classics that people rarely react to; there are some real gems from that era. I am not a fan of noir, so no comment on Wrong Number.

acidnova

Aw, I wish The General was getting more votes. I love Buster Keaton!

Sammy Fan

There are many excellent movies on this list, but Fury may go unnoticed. It's Fritz Lang's first film in America. It's Spencer Tracy beginning to build the legacy that we see pay off in Guess Who's Coming to Dinner. This one won't win the poll, but go and find it for yourself, you won't regret it.

Statmanjeff

The Jungle Book, the 1967 Disney classic rather than live action Rudyard Kipling's Jungle Book (1942) starring Sabu as Mowgli? Okay.

Clare Manion

Aw 🥺 But also, some excellent choices in here! A silent film by one of the greats would be a fantastic addition 😊

Luis

Sorry Wrong Number is a great winter movie!

Erin Mileur

I know Fury (1936) its going to win but if you guys ever get chance check out the movie.

What will it take tp get Boardwalk Empire?- Disapproving Parent

Actuarial Lurker

I picked The General and The Kid given that they are classic SILENT films.... The Jungle Book, which appears to be running away with it, should stir up some culture wars from trolls in your YouTube comments section so try to release it for Election Day!

I wish you guys had a slot for shorter TV series. A dedicated weekly slot for those shows that are less than 30-ish episodes. 1: it may attract move viewers as it creates more titles for people to find your show. 2: It will expose you to more directors/actors. I love things like the nine-nine but you will be on that show for years. 3. It allows a dedicated space for all of those limited/cancelled series (Defying Gravity, Kings, Adolescence, Chernobyl) and possibly anthology series like: Black Mirror, Love Death & Robots, Secret Level. I'm just saying that with a slot for smaller series, if people aren't connecting with you longer series they may stick around knowing that something new is coming soon. Thanks for the great content.

That's actually the plan for Fridays. Once we finish this season of Ted Lasso, we plan to watch shorter shows.

Nick Stark

Oh my gosh!! The film of my choice, Jungle Book, is actually ahead at this time. I remember seeing this at the Drive In Theatre as a little kid. My sisters and I cuddled in blankets in the old station wagon. Best memories ever. This film is a Classic. Joe and Kevin will definitely have fun with the music and characters 👍👍

Nannette

Can I toss a suggestion into the mix? Freaks and Geeks (only 1 season. 18 episodes total)

Sammy Fan

Murder One Season 1 is about 25 episodes. It predates Braking Bad, the Sopranos, and West Wing but actors from those shows make their first appearance here. Each season had a different cast, so only one season needs to be watched.

JENNIFER E

Adding Fruitville Station to my to purchase list

Suzanne Whyte

If we’re suggesting shorter shows there are no reactions to The English, a 6 episode Western miniseries starring Emily Blunt. Chernobyl and The Queen’s Gambit are worth a watch. Plus cult favourite Firefly is only 14 episodes (and a movie).

John Marnell

Source Code's more fun than it had any right to be honestly, a real sleeper hit

seth e.

Black Sails is 38 eps 🏴‍☠️🦜 just sayingggg (begging)

Skinny_Obelix

The General is both a historical milestone and a great movie. It will always be hard for it to win a poll, but if people here haven't seen it, go give it a watch.

Cristy

Fruitvale Station is so good!!!

Cristy

I knew we were on the same wavelength, Jennifer! You are doing God's work.

Jeff

I loved Murder One! (Season 1 only, of course.)

Harvey Rabbit

The only reason I didn't put Firefly is that I think they have already seen it. But while on space they should do Babylon 5 sometime. It is Game of Thrones in space. It was the first non-soap, primetime, Serialized show that I can think of in my life time.

Jeff

I've already suggested it, but I'll throw it out there again: the 10-part BBC series from 1981, Brideshead Revisited. Jeremy Irons in his breakthrough television role, and one of the best book adaptations ever made.

Harvey Rabbit

For me it is just too recent. If there are some classics on the list I will go with those first because no one else does them. Hell, I wish they would watch the other 5 Thin Man movies.

Harvey Rabbit

I'm really curious as to what your polls would look like with an alternative vote. Knocking out the bottom half and re-polling. I'm not saying to do it as it is work for you guys. But you appear to have a split between the pre and post 1960s crowd among your fans.

Dorie ellen

oh excellent suggestion!

Cristy

Great idea! Might I suggest Mare of Easttown (7 eps), White Lotus (21) Dopesick (8) or Adolesence (4).

Cristy

Such a great movie, agreed. I think Jennifer said she might purchase it which would be great.

Harvey Rabbit

My replies on this are also getting Adolesence. You should seriously consider it as it is: A) 4 episodes B) each episode has no cuts C) It is now required watching in the British School system. D) The young male lead had never acted before the 3rd episode, and it was only the second take. That kid has a future.
