Obviously, this is an homage to "The Great Escape" (like, even the theme music is the same....but with kazoos), which was based off of the real life escape(s) of prisoners in the Stalag Luft III POW camp....but I also wonder if this was a nod to the POW camp at Castle Colditz, where prisoners made similar attempts (digging tunnels, escaping with disguises, etc)....but most notably, after the camp was liberated it was found that the prisoners had built an actual GLIDER in an attic of the castle. They didn't get a chance to launch it....so maybe this movie is a kind of what-if nod to that.

Your comments about CGI missed the biggest comparison: the practical effects in The Lord of the Rings trilogy versus the heavily CGI reliance in The Hobbit trilogy. Yeah, some of the CGI stuff in the LotR trilogy is a little dated.....but the films as a whole just look better than the Hobbit ones, which were just a mess.

Trivia I learned today: All of Babs’ knitting is actual tiny yarn that someone knitted with toothpicks.

"Hen" and "Love" are pretty common terms of casual endearment in the UK, with some regional bias. A female taxi driver might call her male passenger "love" for example.

The first Animated Movie for an Academy Award was Shrek in 2001. So the category is only 22 years old.

As @Jamie pointed out, this is a reference to Colditz, famous POW camp exclusively for those that had been caught escaping from other POW camps! There are two movies, a TV series, and a (awesome!) board game. The Colditz Cock was a real thing, sadly didn't survive the Soviet occupation, but there's been a ton of research done since: https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/naziprison/glid_building.html https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yBjTmqbNSC0&pp=ygUYY29sZGl0eiBjb2NrIGRvY3VtZW50YXJ5 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Colditz_Story https://www.amazon.com/Osprey-Escape-Colditz-75th-Anniversary/dp/1472818938

I loved the chocks away pun at the launch of the plane....Toblerone boxes were being used. :D

Season One of Star Wars Visions was a series of short stories from seven different Japanese anime studios, all had very different styles (recommended!). Season Two features animation studios from all over the world...including Aardman Animation. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SSXqU92cymY

Also, yes....this was made by the same folks who made Wallace and Grommit: Aardman Animations. More recently they did a short film (available on Netflix) called "Robin, Robin"....which is done with felted animals rather than clay. I didn't love the plot (or the music) as much in that one, but the main character is adorable in a way that I just can't quite get over. When her little eyebrows furrow in sadness....it slays me.

There's a great movie that I just realized has NO reaction videos I can find. It's called As Good As It Gets. Jack Nicholson and Helen Hunt won Academy Awards for best actor/actress, and it's an awesome movie. I remember it came out the same year as Good Will Hunting and I saw both in the theater (because old) and thinking just those two films made it one of the best years for movies for me. I just think it's strange nobody has reacted to it and might be a good way to boost viewership being the first to do it. The Jack Nicholson character does have some outrageous/racist/homophobic dialogue, but it's because the writer/director James L. Brooks was trying to write "the vilest man in NYC."

I bet you guys would really get a kick out of James Garner, Robert Preston, and Julie Andrews in Victor/Victoria from 1982. All great performances!
