Ted Lasso, Season 3, Episode 6

Jamie's accent is apparently a Manchester accent. It wasn't scripted; Phil Dunster just kind of started doing it at he was developing the character and it stuck. The way he pronounces "poopeh" KILLS me.

Mermaid Day

This may be my favorite episode of Ted Lasso so far. Love the call back to the pillow fight and Colin had me tearing up.

Trent and Colin's talk was so satisfying. It was confusing to see it framed as a possible problem but so wonderful to see it as the absolute build up I hoped to see

Just when you think Jamie's dad can't get any worse, we find out he essentially facilitated the rape via prostitute of his 14-year-old son D: Actually, not even essentially — even if Jamie "wanted it," which he obviously didn't given that it traumatized him so badly he can't even remember the act, the age of consent in the Netherlands is 16, so......yikes. I sure hope the show has a good justification and follow-up for including that piece of backstory, because otherwise I'm going to have a BIG problem with the inclusion of it. If they felt they really needed to make his dad even worse than he already was, there are many, many other ways to do it that don't involve sexual assault of a minor. Apart from that, though, this episode I think is a contender for possibly my most favorite of the series thus far (the next episode is very good, too). The Roy and Jamie stuff was fantastically funny and wholesome. It was great to see them bonding. On Rebecca's storyline, if this were Law and Order, it would've turned out much differently I'm sure, but this is not that show so it didn't really bother me because it was clearly meant to be like a rom-com. Whether or not the Dutch guy comes back somehow, I really loved the experience for Rebecca, I think she needed it. Interested to see where Colin's storyline goes. As far as I know, there are no out footballers in the Premier League, so if Colin came out, he would be the first, albeit of course fictional. I liked his and Trent's talk, though, it must've been such a relief for Colin to be able to freely talk to someone.

I think when the Dutch guy says, "Did we? ...ah, yes, we did.", he meant that they fell for one another. ...& Rebecca quite literally fell. ;) It reminded me a bit of The Before Trilogy, if you are familiar.

That was my thought as well. I felt surely he wouldn't lie to her about their having had sex.

This episode was not Good. This episode was majestic. The dynamics and the pacing of the show have never been this tight and well-done Every storyline followed the right path and ended on a powerful note, on a wonderful note. We got so many turning points for so many characters and storylines: Rebecca and the desire of love (like Ted said in the last episode), Colin and Trent, Roy and Jamie finally opening up totally But for me the genius thing of this episode is Ted Lasso For two and an half seasons they've told us Ted is a GREAT coach, he just doesn't understand European football that much. He is a great leader and a big supporter, but he WON his league in the US in American Football and he's not just a leader when he knows what the sport is about For the first time he is in the UK he see something about a sport he knows (Basketball) and in a fraction of a second his brain comprehend everything he needs to know to improve. He is THAT competent, he really is at the same level of Nate, just not about the same sport. He has an incredible tactical mind and he finally shows that he can be much more than a leader and a father figure He can be a coach with ideas on how to play and he just needed to see one small fraction of a basketball game One small fraction that made him create Total Football. Yes, something that already exists but that he knew nothing about, so he created it the same way people did in the past This is HOW great a coach he is, wow

YES! Colin and Trent are fantastic and I never thought that we'd actually get to see the pillow fight lmao.

I can see Colin coming out to the team at least by the shows end. Yeah just when Jaime's dad couldn't get any worse...

Agreed! Ted is amazing. We've just been waiting for him to find his footing so to speak. This season does feel really refined and we will be sad once it is over!

I’m so glad that our suspicions of what they were hinting at with Trent were confirmed — the queer thing yes, but even more so the fact that he was keeping an eye on Colin because he cared and wanted to see if he was doing OK or maybe needed someone to talk to. No book stuff. I understand Colin’s fear of coming out in an environment with a culture like that of pro sports. Even though this team/show is modeled as a utopian ideal of what people can be if they are good people who are trying, the pervasiveness of homophobia in sports is such that, even if Colin thinks he has *probably* struck gold here, he still can’t bring himself to take down that wall, just in case. I wonder where they’ll go from here — will Colin’s fears be somehow justified? I’m watching along with you, so we’ll find out. I’m still worried about Colin. I’m torn between loving the one-in-a million (in my opinion) connection between Sam and Rebecca, and wanting to see more of Rebecca and this new guy!

We just want what's best for both characters! Rebecca and Colin, and even Sam for that matter. They all have amazing hearts and are destined for great things. Loved the night that Rebecca had with this mysterious guy!
