Aww, New Girl! While it doesn't beat out shows like Crazy Ex-Girlfriend or Fleabag for nuance, it's still a fun show. I think later seasons are even better.

Fun (separate) fact: Damon Wayans Jr. did the pilots for Happy Endings and New Girl, but then they *both* were picked up. He chose Happy Endings because the role was bigger. I think New Girl does a good job keeping his character in the world of the show (references, etc), unlike other sit coms that would just...never mention him again. P.S. I personally find peak HE better than peak NG, but NG does a better job with season/series arcs and development.

I love it! I was in the middle of rewatching this show anyway- now I started over. Re: Damon Wayans, Jr- he filmed both this pilot and the Happy Endings pilot the same season.
