I'm glad you enjoyed this! The creator and writer also did Gilmore Girls so it's very similar in dialogue, which I think is the strongest part. Luke Kirby is great as Lenny Bruce.

Looooove that you guys are watching this. You'll adore this series. Written by the same team that did Gilmore Girls, if you ever watched that show. The costume department & set designers never take their foot off the gas. I remember tweeting back when I 1st watched the pilot that they made Lenny Bruce sexy which I never thought would be possible. Luke Kirby kills it as Lenny. Looking forward to y'all reacting to this one.

......I'd like to add that I did not read @bluediners' comment before posting my own, but I think it speaks highly of the show that we essentially said the same thing. ;)

I am SO excited you're watching this! I hope you stick with it, because it's an amazing, unpredictable, hilarious, touching journey. The writing, direction, acting, and overall production are like nothing you've seen on television. There are scenes throughout it that are basically crowd scenes but are choreographed like Broadway musical numbers. And yes, most interactions feel like scenes from stage plays. I also love the period songs that are used, because most of them are lesser-known to today's audiences. You have five amazing seasons to look forward to, and I guarantee you will be continually surprised by the original narrative and the creativity.

Five terrific seasons, just ended over the spring with a finale that completely stuck the landing. I really came to love these characters and care about what happened to them. Can’t wait to watch with you guys. Best TV taste in reaction land.

Love this show. Both sets of grand parents are hilarious. I've always felt the dialouge, espicially Brosnahan's, is very Sorkin esque. Smart fast paced and witty. Interested to see how you both like it.

Some people say season 3 - 5 are less good, but I watched the show week to week since it premiered, and I loved every episode. I love the production design and period details but the dialogue is perfect through all five seasons. The only big difference is some character changes. Midge makes more selfish choices as the show goes on whereas her husband gets more likeable (which makes it more interesting IMO).

Also it's set in the late 50s, but it continues into the 60s and makes a perfect tonal counterpoint to Mad Men

Good choice! This one is weird for me personally, because I found out after they won the Emmy in Season 1 that a High School friend (FB/BB teammate) was on stage with the group accepting the award - knew he moved to NY after school but didn't know he was in TV so was quite the shock!

A lot of other Patreon's I've been on put out polls for what to watch next but I haven't seen that here so going to throw out a couple of things for you to put on your list for consideration. There are three - the first one is because it's my favorite show and I will forever promote it where I can. The other two I will suggest because I feel like I've gotten to know you two thru watching West Wing, Mad Men, Ted Lasso, and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, and believe a) you'd love both b) you'd appreciate both, and c) they are both time period pieces. 1) Lost - my top show ever (West Wing second) (6 seasons 121 episodes) 2) The Americans - was on FX, I watched it on Prime but not sure where you can get it now - Also in my Top 5 all-time - it's set in the early-mid 80's spy show - based on true events. (6 seasons 75 episodes) 3) TURN: Washington's Spies - was on AMC - another spy show but this time in the 1780's - based on true events as well. (4 seasons, 40 episodes) I don't want to be the guy posting non-episode-specific things on specific TV threads but wasn't sure where else to do it on your Patreon so I'll do it once here, move on with my life, and hope that you'll take it into consideration the next time you want to start something new :).
