OMG... the two guys from Silence of the Lambs is exactly what I was thinking.

Quality show, and you guys get it! So happy you're in it for the whole thing! BTW (I know, I'm not letting this go!)... In your intro, you've just put the finger EXACTLY on what I was trying to explain about Andor... It's FULL practical when possible (i.e. let's say that Tie fighters flying isn't ;-) The show has 4 arcs of 3ish episodes, and arcs 3 & 4 are most propbably the best Sci-Fi ever done in the Star Wars universe (but Star Wars isn't even important for it to work!) Just saying...

Kelsey Krehbiel

The actress who plays Rose (the mother) is Marin Hinkle! And I agree-- I love the dynamic between her and Tony Shalhoub'a character! They deserved every award they got for this show!

I've heard enough good things about this show lmao. Maybe i'll check it out. I'm raging against the corporate machine that is Disney lmao. I'm being dramatic. I'm sure I will eventually watch it. I love Tony Gilroy.

Started catching up on your reactions to this show recently. It's one I have some feelings about as someone who's half-Jewish living in NYC. My dad is Jewish and didn't like this show, my mom (who was raised protestant) loves it, me and my brothers (who grew up pretty secular) love it too. My dad would have been about 10 years younger than Midge in 1956, and he doesn't feel like the show accurately captures his experience at all. Of course he grew up in a predominantly Jewish suburb in the Midwest, not NYC, and much less privileged, so I have no way to know how much is inaccuracy vs. his experience being inherently different. Even with how massively different NYC is now, everything in this show does feel authentic to me in how it captures the city in that time period. Almost all the architecture of the Upper West Side where Midge lives is unchanged since then. And yeah Greenwich Village is crazy expensive and full of upscale and/or chain places now, but there's still tons of hole in the wall bars and jazz clubs that very much look like the places in this show. Some of the bars in the show that you've mentioned wishing you had places like where you live, look very much like ones that were regular after work spots for us when I worked in walking distance of the village. There are shots of like MacDougal Street where the basement spots have different names from the ones I know now but otherwise look almost identical. Speaking of the village, the park where the protest was in this episode was Washington Square Park in the village, not Central Park. You might recognize it from being the scene of the NYC fight near the beginning of Avengers Infinity War (the arch is pretty recognizable). And it wasn't about anything like the couple of small roads crossing Central Park, it was about Robert Moses wanting to plow a giant highway through Washington Square Park. Jane Jacobs lead the activist movement that stopped a highway destroying that park, neighborhood, and much of downtown Manhattan. She's a legend.

NYC is historically so fascinating. I don't have that perspective either. Sucks that your dad is not a fan, but I completely understand not liking something because you don't feel it represents who you are.
