Oh no no no... Rose making Midge clean up is not petty. It is measured and it is justified. I'm generally on Midge's side... but she totally dropped the shower in Rose's lap.

thank u next

this isnt the season finale. theres 10 episodes in this season 👍 can't wait for Season 3 :)

This week’s Broadway connection. There are only four episodes in the entire series not written by the Palladinos. Two of those episodes (including this one) were written by Kate Fodor, an award-winning playwright with several off-Broadway credits to her name. This episode doesn’t have any cast members with big theater ties (other than the main cast which I promise I will get to in another week). So let’s catch up on some previous episodes, starting with the most recent big ones from the Catskills at Steiner Mountain Resort. Brandon Uranowitz (Buzz, the social director) - has been nominated for 4 Tony Awards and finally won this year for his work as Best Featured Actor in a Play in Leopoldstadt. Laura Dreyfuss (Deecy, the girl in Susie’s cabin that says she’s going to be a singer) created the role of Zoe Murphy in the original Broadway Company of Dear Evan Hansen in 2016. Nolan Gerard Funk (Josh, the lifeguard who only wears red shorts) led the revival cast of Bye Bye Birdie on Broadway playing Conrad Birdie in 2009. Jacob Kemp (Samuel, the assistant Abe is mean to) though he hasn’t made a Broadway credit yet, he did star in the lead role of Davey in the first national tour of Newsies, the musical. (He’s got an incredible singing voice, give it a google search) Saul Rubinek (Pauly, the resort manager) before tv and movies, Saul began doing theater in Canada before moving to the US to perform in off-Broadway shows. There are many many more from the Catskills, but these were the most prominent. Just assume at least half of the cast from the Steiner resort were Broadway/ theater actors. Broadway fanatics, never fear, I’ll cover the actors of “The Legend of Lizzie” next week. Also fun fact, Ethan (Midge’s son) is played by twin boys, Nunzio and Matteo Pascale.

Children under a certain age are usually played by twins, because child labor laws only allow for a certain amount of work per day. If you have two visually identical children, you can get twice the number of hours by swapping them out mid-day.

This is NOT the first time they've used period inappropriate music for the end credits. They ALWAYS use period inappropriate music for the end credits - you've just never noticed before because you usually click off as soon as the first credit appears. It makes me sad because you've missed out on some spectacular needle drops, but it's probably for the best since you've remained unspoiled on which actors are series regulars and which are guest stars.

As someone else said, they mostly use anachronistic songs in the credits! The season 2 finale has an all-time favorite needledrop for me only second to one in season 3. Here are quotes from Amy Sherman Palladino and Daniel Palladino about that: "ASP: That’s a conscious decision. Sometimes we don’t do it — a few times we play through what was going on in that last scene and you have to honor the drama first. To us, Midge is a character that we always wanted young girls to like and relate to. A different decade shouldn’t change that feeling. To me, that’s another aspect of what this character represents. DP: It points the viewer forward. We’re trying to be careful to use the music and emphasize that we don’t want this show to feel like it’s locked in time or locked in a precious box for people to look it. We wanted it to feel like something that’s happening now, but it was happening in 1958. That burst of music at the end points a few decades into that future." It's interesting to see how you guys feel about Joel because he never clicked for me even though I see what they're trying to do with the character. I totally agree with what Rose did here. Midge was selfish in this situation and left her to deal with it. She can't forget about her responsibilities now that she's taking more on with comedy. This is probably one of my least favorite episodes of the show though. (I criticize because I love!) It just doesn't work for me and I feel like they made Susie a little too irritating and clueless about how clubs work than I think she really would be. Luckily, the final two episodes of the season are great! Really excited to see you guys get to them.

I agree they made Susie a little too irritating in this one, I love that quote about how it feels like it's happening now even though it's 60+ years ago. It totally does! That's why this show is amazing. It's contemporary and a period piece. Love it.

Weird Magic

I think the main point of this episode was to show that Susie is still a rookie manager (especially when not at the Gaslight or when spreading the wings to outside of NY proper) with room for that part of the character to grow (or continue to fail). B storyline is that Midge does play well outside of NY, but also - still amatuerish at times. See where (if) they grow! Originally airing on December 5, 2018, 'Someday…' is Episode 8 of Season 2 of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. It is the 16th episode overall and has an IMDB rating of 8.2, placing it as the #8 ranked episode of this season and #11 out of all the episodes shown so far.

This show is so good...glad to be watching along as I've been meaning to get to this one. :) Another good period piece when you're looking for your next show is the Canadian turn of the century comedy/police drama Murdoch Mysteries which is on Acorn TV on Prime. If you enjoy it...you won't run out of material for quite some time.

I think they will! I love that this show is about the process as well and we love being along for the ride!
