I hate Sorkin's disdain for hockey. I've never been more excited than watching my team in the Stanley Cup or the US in the Olympics and hockey isn't even my favorite sport.

I love this episode; Donna in the oval office makes me cry every time. And I loved your intro predictions about the potential stunt casting of Ritchie, for reasons you will discover. Just so you're aware, the next episode on Max is a stand-alone "special episode." It's a clip show that intersperses scenes from the whole series with interviews with politicians and former White House staff members. It's not necessary to watch for the narrative, but it does have some interesting moments. Kevin, you slightly misspoke at the end. Clinton beat George H.W. Bush, not Bush the younger. I know what you meant, but it threw me for a second, because I only wish George W. Bush had been defeated for reelection.

That whole Depleted Uranium thing is so confusing, they must have meant spent fuel, they're entirely different things and DU is barely radioactive at all - that's what makes it depleted.

I'm always so excited for you guys to get to the next episode! It's as hard waiting as it was for waiting for the show when it was on. :) One of the little details I love about this show is during the AA meeting, the chairman makes a comment about God and says "as we understood him" then glares at the guy next to Leo and repeats "AS we understood him". It shows that even the small roles have their own stories that we don't necessarily get to see but there are glimpses..such good writing.

Max has the special documentary episode as the next one. That should be fun.

The speculation about Ritchie's casting had me cackling; can't wait for you to get to him Also, the "reasonable Republican" gets even more pronounced in the seasons after Sorkin left. And some people suggest that the many Obama staffers who cite The West Wing as their inspiration were ill-prepared for the reality of a Republican Congress.

The Molly Morello scene gets me.....every.....time..... Originally airing on April 3, 2002, 'Stirred' is Episode 18 of Season 3 of The West Wing. It is the 62nd episode overall and has an IMDB rating of 8.3, placing it as the #5 ranked episode of this season and #30 out of all the episodes shown so far.

Omg this is the Molly Morello episode??? Let's fucking gooooo

I’ve always loved this episode! Quick question lol…. Would you guys consider doing a WW marathon again like you did in the beginning 😉 I just love going on this journey with ya and look forward to these every Tuesday! Just asking lol

The Molly Morello episode! The very end is so weird to me with Sam's sumo wrestler thing, but this has some nice moments, including everything with Hoynes. Note to President Bartlet: Bond is ordering a weak martini so that he can drink without getting drunk -- so that he can do his job.

Arek Schneyer

So, a couple of things. When Sam said "I didn't even have to suggest it, or convince him, or bring it up", he was lying, because he did have to bring it up. He exaggerating, because, I think, he was so offended by the idea of replacing Hoynes. Another line of Sam's I don't think you got, is his last line about the Sumo wrestler was about Rob Richie. Richie is the sumo wrestler- Big and loud, and not skilled or practiced or knowledgeable about the subject.

The written reason is so needlessly dramatic and I love it I really like that the election is a slow burn. We're in the midst of the primaries this season; the President doesn't have to do much campaigning at this point, since no one is running against him. The Republicans are campaigning in the background, so they're on the back burner, but not the center of focus. Seems pretty realistic to me.

*Hearing some of the comments at the end, what you want to see, and knowing where this season is going to go after the next special episode and trying to keep a poker face.* You never quite know what you're going to get with this show, or how you're going to get it....all I'm gonna say. I look forward to seeing you finish out the season.

So, why haven't we encountered Richie yet? There's a thing with the West Wing ... I'm not sure what the best terms are. Might be POV or perspective ... but it seems like a rule or principle that the show held to. We are only shown what the characters themselves experience: a phone call, a note, someone coming to brief, news footage on TV. We don't see dramatic scenes like the FBI situation with the militia or the fleet being tossed by the hurricane. The exception is when at least one of the characters is THERE, like the shooting in Rosslyn. This show doesn't flash away to insert footage of something happening somewhere else. With Ritchie, we are having the same experience of him that they are. Of course, the characters HAVE no doubt seen Ritchie on TV. The show was probably keeping him from us to build interest, or maybe just because of casting or availability issues. But their day-to-day lives are still quite busy with regular West Wing stuff. Bruno and his team are in full-time campaign mode, but it's happening somewhere else. It's just a theory, and I still haven't gotten around to taking Film Studies 101, so I hope I'm making sense.

I keep loving the very sorkinistic writing tricks. The 'Because I Might Die' is such a 'Let Bartlet Be Bartlet' / 'Bartlet For America' napkin moment. Plus, having it written down, set up, and returned for reveal only a scene and a half later... again, the kind of writing not many people could do, or would dare to do. (Plus, they would be blamed for just miming Sorking). And he is also so great with the emotion things. The Molly Moreno thing is as touching as they go.

Unfortunately we're just once a week now. We've been playing with the idea of WW discussion videos though.

Youtalkingtome

That makes a lot of sense. It is from their perspectives entirely. Plus it's just smart for the show to take it's time and really build up to it.

Youtalkingtome

This show has made us cry more than any other show we have watched on this channel. Ted Lasso maybe a close second. It's just perfect. One minute we're laughing, the next full blown tears.

Luca Siracusa (Bob)

The Molly Morello scene at the end is such a sweet and beautiful proof of what Jed Bartlet can be with all his staff members A genuine caring person that loves you to the moon and would do anything to help you, even in ways you'd never imagine Plus, his relationship with Hoynes in this episode was so intelligently written and put that I think they really were never this close. And it's a great idea since they're heading into reelection

Youtalkingtome

Right, I think you needed this to show how close they really are. Plus they don't use Hoynes that much on the show, love that he essentially got his own episode.
