Wait, who told you anything negative about Episode 5?? I have been waiting patiently for it all season. I don't want to say anything else without spoiling but it's in my top 5

I don’t understand how anyone could dislike seasons 4 and 5. My favorite episode of the series happens in season 4. And the music choices alone in season 5 make it such a standout. Excited for y’all to get there.

I don't want to harp on my problems with seasons 4 and 5 again without guys having seen them and being able to form your own opinions, but I'll say I do like 5 more than 4 because it's more ambitious overall BUT the season 4 finale is top two of the entire show for me along with 305. Imo it just takes too long to get that greatness so I find the rest of the season a bit frustrating. Again, a conversation for another day once you actually get there lol. Back to this ep! I find it interesting that Midge returns to Joel when she wants a taste of her old life. Like before the tour and then feeling a bit homesick now during it. I just don't think they could ever be on the same page again even if there is love there. It's evident to me when Joel asks if she talks about him during her set. She doesn't because she's playing to a specific crowd but she obviously will/would again in other circumstances because it's her truth. She's ultimately on a path where she can't devote herself to someone who doesn't understand that comedy is her priority and love above all else. That doesn't mean Joel can't be supportive, he is at this point, but it's different if they're together. Also, I know that progress isn't linear and Joel is still growing, but he can hit below the belt and get nasty really quick (with Ben last season and now the weird Shy comments) and it always turns me off to him. C'mon Joel! No spoilers for the Susie stuff but they're definitely showing you a bunch of gambling stuff for a reason. Conflict makes good TV lol. Can't wait for next week guys! My favorite episode. I hope I didn't overhype it but I don't think I did. It's a lovely, beautiful episode.

I was wondering if the gambling was gunna be a thing. Joel ultimately is a good guy but man he can't get out of his own way. He can be so capable but yet he is so insecure.

Season strength is so relative, and you guys are right - doesn't mean seasons 4 and 5 are bad, just means they aren't loved as much as earlier seasons. I'm a big proponent of "any episode of {insert favorite show here} is better than any episode of {insert average show here - like Keeping Up with the Kardashians}" ;). Case in point is MMM - yes, IMDB rankings are lower for S4 and S5 - but a) it is very slight and b) it's still above an 8 for both seasons so who cares - the ride is totally worth it to the end. S1 - 8.4 S2 -8.6 S3 - 8.4 S4 - 8.2 S5 - 8.3 Originally airing on December 6, 2019, 'Hands!' is Episode 4 of Season 3 of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. It is the 22nd episode overall and has an IMDB rating of 8.3, placing it as the #6 ranked episode of this season and #14 out of all the episodes shown so far.
