The Eternal Shriek

I love this episode for all the Janet and the whole chaos of the situation spiralling out of control -- the whole scene on the beach is so absurdly comedic -- and that's usually how I remember it, but that cliffhanger/ending is really what takes it to the next level. Having the entire status quo of the show that's necessary for the plot to happen be completely upended seven episodes in is wild. The creator of the show mentioned that this is something that would normally be dragged out until the season finale, but I agree with what you guys mentioned after the first episode that this is a premise a show could milk for multiple seasons! So for it to happen now is astonishing and I bet you must be wondering what the hell the show does in the four remaining seasons it has.

I love that Joe and Kevin lost the power of speech after this week's cliffhanger..... :D (And this episode is an example of what I was talking about - a lesser show might have had Janet's murder...slaughter(!)....as an entire story arc. Here it's resolved (sorta) within a single episode. :D )

D Gyre

It really is a major point in her arc and development, owning up to that and doing it for the benefit of others. Such a huge moment in the show and you really see not only is there real moral growth for her, it really makes it hard to decide where she does belong now. One of the key episodes and so funny. ((and you have only just BEGUN to see the wonder that D'Arcy Carden's performance in this show))

JVTrickypants

D’Arcy Carden is absolutely amazing! She should have won all the Emmys.

"Tyler has asthma but he is battling it like a champ!" kills me EVERY time

Poor Janet. I liked her so much. :(

Yeah, of course it's not immoral to try to stay out of Hell. Even Chidi would agree. Just look at Eleanor: This is someone who's not even himself but a whole other person, who he is given to understand DESERVES TO BE IN THE BAD PLACE according to universal law, and from the beginning he's been working to keep her out of there. I mean, who wouldn't? Just as long as it doesn't cause more suffering for someone else. Anyway, it's so much fun to follow you gentlemen on this journey. I think that's something everyone gets re. the big bad spoilers you say all the commenters have been keeping to themselves. (Everyone except Ted Dansen, who reportedly gave away every twist he could to everyone he met without the merest provocation before the show was even out. Guess he was just too excited.) But most people see how utterly pointless it would be to give stuff away when we may instead get to see the looks on your faces when you find out yourselves. Such as in this episode's big twist ending. That was incredible!

yet another unexpected turn. ;) I really love the final thing she says to Chidi - "I love you, man." I think it really encapsulates beautifully her whole journey so far from being 100% selfish to now being able to put Chidi's needs before her own. and not for a logical reason - Chidi will not give her up, she is not endangering his life directly by keeping quiet. she makes her confession purely because she doesn't want to see him in pain. it's beautiful. who knows, maybe one day she will even start seeing Janet as a person and demonstrate empathy towards her too :D I low-key hate that you are only watching 1 episode a week. with this show, everything happens so quickly and the suspense is killing me. I am sure it is killing you more, though. at least I know what happens :D

Maria Stoycheva

yes, getting to see the guys' faces is priceless. and yet, keeping the discussion spoiler-free is hard from the distance of several seasons. at one point the story starts blurring a little bit and you are not exactly sure what happened when, you know? I do appreciate that they are trusting us and reading the comments, though. in their place, I might be too paranoid that someone will drop a spoiler by mistake :D

Maria Stoycheva

also, I agree that the entire premise of the show might have just crumbled. for all we know, there is no going back on that statement - everyone heard it, and will demand that action be taken. I am very scared about Eleanor's fate, despite her plot armour as arguably the main character. lots of things can happen to a dead person that still keeps them in a show about dead people...

a great episode for d'arcy carden indeed! she's absolutely wonderful in everything she does--back in june of last year i saw her in the play that she made her broadway debut in, and she truly is just an incredible actress/comedian!!

Youtalkingtome

Yeah we really are wondering where they go from here! Also Janet dying is one of the funniest scenes I've seen in awhile.

Youtalkingtome

I love it. They handle it perfectly and 20 minutes is the perfect runtime for this show. Sometimes I actually wish it was longer!

Youtalkingtome

Hey we appreciate you guys. Reacting to this show is a real treat for us and a highlight on our channel! Thank you guys once again for not spoiling a freaking thing!

Youtalkingtome

I know, we would love to do more. Our schedule only allows for one per week that way we can do more shows and take our time for this one and really break it down!

Youtalkingtome

That's true, I have no idea where it goes now. All I know is that she can't go anywhere right now because Janet can't drive the train...

For people struggling with avoiding spoilers, something I used to do on other channels if I want to discuss future stuff with other people is using rot13.com. For example: "This is a comment about a spoiler" -> becomes "Guvf vf n pbzzrag nobhg n fcbvyre". I personally haven't felt the desire to use this so far, but assuming we have Joe/Kevin's blessing, this method makes it so your comment can't be accidentally read as people have to go out of their way to decrypt it first.

Honestly, I think this the kind of show that rewards taking a week out to think about it. You could maybe even spend longer (on the day) ahead of pressing the play button for the next episode, having had proper time for things to percolate in your brains. After all, your banter / analysis is actually what we subscribe for, we can watch the show itself in our own time. :)
