Weird Magic

Aaron Sorkin is given the most credit for the West Wing, it was his vision/baby etc. However, very early in his WW process he hooked up with Tommy Schlamme to be the guy in charge of all the directors. Tommy directed a lot of the major episodes (premieres/finales etc), and beyond that he decided who directed all the others. Cast interviews rarely compliment Aaron without including Tommy. When Aaron decided to leave WW after season 4, Tommy decided to leave too. This is the 3rd episode Tommy Schlamme has directed of The Americans, he also directs the next one (and a couple more in later seasons). I re-watched Jimmy Macrams reactions recently, he consistently commented (and I complete agree) that the music is very UNDERRATED in what it brings to the show. From pacing to tension to a "Soviet feel" to having Philip and Elizabeth kiss with the American National Anthem going in the background. It is a major part of this show/experience. Originally airing on February 11, 2015, 'Open House' is Episode 3 of Season 3 of The Americans. It is the 29th episode overall and has an IMDB rating of 8.3, placing it as the #6 ranked episode of this season and #7 out of all the episodes shown so far. P.S. If the KGB could provide radio interference and a car crash diversion - why couldn't they provide their own dentist??? :)

Nathan Barr, the show's cello-playing musical director, did a great job, along with whomever had the encyclopedic knowledge of 1980s hits.

What is with you guys and TEETH?!?! 🤣🤣 I can rewatch the suitcase scene, but I can't do this one.

Roland Cooke

And you are so right about Tommy Schlamme, his direction really helps keep the tension high in this show.

Roland Cooke

Your point about the dentist is of course correct, but necessary in order to torture us. 🤣

The detail on this show is absolutely incredible. They just nail it and you forget that the show is 10 years old. It's remarkable

We literally talked about that after we stopped recording. We both looked at each other and went "wait, what the hell?" lmao

Paige was watching "Fantasy Island" with Ricardo Montalban as Mr. Roarke. This means it was a Saturday night after ten o'clock. I remember those days well.

I remember my parents letting me stay up to hear, “da plane, da plane.” Then it was time for bed.
