Back at it Again
- Space Ship (hibernation pod malfunction) 269
- Fantasy Dungeon (slime inflation) 623
Heyo! After a short hiatus, I'm ready to get back to it. I'm settled into my new place now and caught up with some real life responsibilities. Thanks for everyone's patience and an extra special thanks to everyone who continued to support me through my break. You all are amazing!
I'm going to ease back into things by adding a new map. It's been a while since I've added a new location and this will be more manageable for me to start with instead of diving right into a big systems update or some such. However, I want to add a thematic expansion sequence to the new map too. I've been thinking about settings that are more fictional and less grounded than previous locations and I've narrowed it down to two choices. I want to develop both these concepts either way, but this will determine which one I do first.
Space Ship - A scifi setting with a crew on it's way to a distant planet. They'll need to use hibernation pods to make it there within their lifetimes. Unfortunately yours is malfunctioning. The nutrient delivery system gets stuck on overdrive, causing you to expand until the pod bursts, releasing your blobified body, much to the annoyance of your crew. (I want to eventually add an antigravity option to this setting too, but after looking into it, it'll be too big a lift to do in a single update so that will have to come later)
Fantasy Dungeon - Slimes have taken over the ruins of an ancient temple, now the goblins who reside there need a brave (and hungry) adventurer to clear them out. Keep any treasure you find as a reward, but beware the King Slime and his minions. They will not hesitate to immobilize any hapless intruders. (I'll also be adding a couple fantasy themed outfits so your avatar can be in character for this.)
I figure a brand new level is a clean slate for me to experiment with some scenario-driven expansion. As always, I'm open to ideas for specifics with these if you got any, and I'll consider working them in if they aren't too complicated. I distilled it down to only two choices so as to not split the vote. I'll get to work on the winner when the poll ends in a few days.
