Hi!  I'm back with an update on what I've been working on for modding this week.  As you noticed, the Violin/Piano Duets mod came out, and now that I have a framework for how two instruments can play together, I plan to incorporate more in the future!

Marksmanship

The rest of my time was spent on the Marksmanship mod this week, and now I have a plan for how hunting will actually work in the game.  There will be designated "hunting spots" that you can place, where your Sims can go to wait for game to appear.  Different animals can appear, and you will have a chance to hit or miss your target.

Getting to that gif took a lot of time this week.  I made the deer mesh by editing the foal rig, and then texture-painted it.  Then I had to figure out how to rig it.  I haven't had to import a custom rig into the game since the Archery mod, so it's been a minute and I forgot some crucial steps along the way, with some disturbing results.

But I finally feel like I have a better handle on how to make custom rigs for the game!  This opens up a lot of new possibilities, even potentially things like new animal objects or zoos.  I need to get better at texturing though, because this low poly pheasant is going to haunt my dreams.

Also, did I mention I'm a vegetarian? I didn't think about that before starting on this mod. 🙃 Oh well, I suppose you can only feel so bad for pixels...

There will be deer, rabbits, and pheasants.  Once you hunt an animal, you will be able to trade them in for meat, and I spoke with Littleblowbub to make it compatible with Ye Olde Cookbook as well!

Flute

The outcome of this month's poll was the Flute! So I worked on making the object itself.  It's currently the size of a bazooka but I'll fix it once I get to animating. 🎼

Until next time,

~ JS

Aaaah can't wait 💓💓

Both mods look amazing. Could add more historical swatches to flute? Thank you so much for all your hard work.

I love this sooo much! I'm not even into hunting but this will add so much gameplay for my outdoorsy and dnd inspired sims.

Arlene

I just can't.. that's so gorgeous :D speechless.......

Margaret

If you make it compatible with Ye Olde Cookbook, that would be great.

Christina West

I am AMAZED by you! This is so cool!

gfvsims

You are so talented! That deer is going to haunt MY dreams! :D

I am so exciting for this! Speaking of the archery mod, has that been fixed yet? The middle and long range targets can't be selected...

JaneSimsten

Hey! I have a fix for this but because I can't replicate the bug I can't be 100% sure it works - is there any chance you would be willing to help test? Thank you so much!

Scipio Garling

I'd LOVE to! Let me know how I can help.

Atelier Nostalgie

OMG this is exciting! Hunting, yesss! And a flute! Awww, perfect! Thank you so much for all your amazing work! But now I'm thinking what possibilities this opens. Would you ever consider adding functional peacocks? They would be perfect for the sims' manors, palaces and castles, strolling around their large gardens:-))) And btw - do you think you might ever add a sewing skill?

JaneSimsten

Hey! I love the peacock idea and definitely think it's possible. As for a sewing skill, I had thought of adding a minor handsewing skill to the Regency mod but am open to doing more if there's interest! I need to get better at making CAS items though before I could do a mod like that justice.

SO EXCITING!! You are amazing!!

Hello, Jane. I have tried the new files (Archery 1.15) and, yes, they DO fix the problem. I am sure that all my fellow archery fans will be as grateful as I am for your work on this; Thank you!

Hello

Hello, there is already a retro sewing machine mod from ozzy. It seems they are inactive for some time now. Maybe you could pick up the mod instead of starting from scratch.
