There will be many, many times you want to turn away and give up on this show. Please stick through it! Also, I said it last week and I’ll say it again: GOT is just as much politics and geography as it is drama. It’s really, really in-depth, and that depth is more important to this storyline than it even was in LOTR. As annoying as it is for Sean, I really do think a detailed map of Westeros and Essos will be extremely helpful for you to understand and follow the show.

Mike, you were correct -- in Tyrion's conversation with Jon he stated that Jamie Lannister killed the previous king -- the one that was replaced by Robert. It's known that Jamie killed the Mad King (Daenerys's father), whom Jamie was actually sworn to serve at the time. They call Jamie the Kingslayer for this. Also, Robert never married Ned's sister Lyanna. They were engaged. However, one of the older sons of the Mad King kidnapped Lyanna, which is part of what sparked the rebellion to overthrow the Mad King.

Sean got it a lil confused but you were right Mike. The Queens brother did kill the Previous King( the beautiful platinum blondes father by the way) but not the stone eyes guy from beginning. I love the slow descent into Thrones lore. Just drip drip more info and the librarian who follows the blonde girl just wants to serve the rightful and a good ruler. Maps! Check out the boxed set The Lands of Ice and Fire -- it has multiple fold-out maps of different parts of the GOT world, including one of Westeros. You can get it secondhand for about 20 bucks through ebay or book resellers. People also make fanart drawings of the maps in different styles, some which you can buy as a download file and print yourself whatever size. Just to clarify, Ned is correct when he says, "the Targaryen girl is little more than a child". In the books, Daenerys is 13 years old when her brother brokers the marriage between her and Khal Drogo. They upped her age to 16 in the show to make "certain things" more palatable for viewers, but she is still a child. Viserys (her brother) is 22 in the books, and roughly 24 or 25 in the show. Show Sansa and Arya Stark are 13 and 11, while in the books they are 11 and 9 respectively. Hope this helps!😊

I think it is important to mention that Dany was NOT raprapp in the book. She was scared, he put her at ease and she got way into it the first time. I HATE how they S/A in the show. I often wonder why they went that route. Was it to turn dudes on? Geez I hope not. It's pretty shitty.

I'm so happy you guys love the show! I saw those goosebumps. It's a real crazy ride and you will love it all but some things. Despite the controversy over some things, GoT remains the greatest TV show of all time in my opinion. Each episode is like a movie with movie-quality acting and effects. The sister fucker (Jamie) was kings guard. Jamie killed the mad king. Robert, Ned’s friend, became king, and cats sisters husband, became the new hand to the king. John I believe is his name, can’t spell the last name… John is who died recently of “fever”. So now Ned is going to be king Robert’s hand. Everyoneeee knows that Jamie killed the last king. I completely agree, that was a change from the book that I did not like. From listening to discussions with the actors it sounded as if they just didn’t think that the book scenario was realistic for these characters. But I disagree. And it made it much harder to see how it was possible for their relationship to end up where it did with that beginning.
