Between the rest of the series, the rest of the Matrix movies, and V for Vendetta when it happens you guys are in the middle of peak reaction movies!!

Becky Johnson

You must have seen Battle Royal, no?

Jeffery Loera

When is catching fire on schedule?

Nicholas Bevan

The Japanese one? I watched it, it was pretty mid.

Becky Johnson

Yes and no, it's great. But more importantly it's a cult classic when it comes to these types of films and these two are film nerds so they should have seen/see it.

Not dropping a spoiler here, just so you understand the people. Haymich is grumpy because he's been made to mentor his districts boy and girl every year, and they never come home. The capital people like Effy, bigwig, littlewig, and everyone else in spotlight on camera HAVE to put on a warped spectacular performance to hype the capital audience or President Snow will disappear them.

I still get chills. Reminds of the short story The Lottery by Shirley Jackson. Also saw the 1969 video in school. Wondering if anybody else saw that?

The hardest thing to believe is a bunch if grown men wouldnt volunteer for a child yet katness did easily.

Most of your questions will be answered throughout the franchise. Hamwich (haymitch) has a reason why he is the way he is, they touch on it a bit in catching fire but hamwich’s story is the next movie in the franchise, so no spoilers from me 😅. The 3 finger salute is from district 12 exclusively, it’s not explained in the movies but it is in the book, it’s mean farewell with respect & honor at funerals since most people don’t die naturally of old age when some one does that symbol is used. In katniss’s case most people in district 12 respect her & wanted to honor her for volunteering for prim. Katniss then used that symbol to honor rue who reminded her so much of prim. District 11 (rue’s district) did not revolt cause of just only rue’s death but for the empathy & care katniss showed to rue before & after her death. Remember that this is the 74th hunger games & these poorer districts have seen countless youngsters die in the arenas & because it’s a competition to the death, compassion & empathy are something that is rarely seen in the arenas. On a side note, the books are very much worth reading, in fact I have an extra hardcover set of you want it. You both were totally on point in describing what the games reminded you of. The author was flipping through tv channels, flipped through some war footage & a reality game show footage & inspiration struck. Also try to keep in mind that katniss is still 16 yrs old, by the 3rd movie people tend to forget how young she is & teenager at that.

Don't they have to be 18 or under to volunteer? Isn't the whole point that they're children/teens, because that's the target audience?
