I needed this so bad today. One of the all time great episodes. Love you guys so much. Keep going!!!!!!!!!

M1 Garand is semi automatic. The germans, like the US Thompson, had their own automatic weapons (Stg 44 plus MP40) and the soviets had automatic submachine guns (like the PPSh-41). On another note - have you guys seen “Enemy at the Gates”?

Ladyjaded

Wish you guys were subtitled in this. I don’t understand how your GoT reactions are but BoB and Chernobyl reactions aren’t? These are why I joined the expensive tier

Eric is Me

Sean does all of the editing himself. It's a grueling process and he does several movies/episodes per week (often without even being thanked). I'm sure if you ask nicely he might be able to find an SRT file. But if he can't and subs can't be easily added does it detract from the value?

Abraham Perez

You guys are actually 25 years to the day when it came out when you watched the first episode. The were celebrating 25 years of this series last week

Abraham Perez

Depends on which M1 you are talking about: M1 Garand, M1 Thompson, M1 Carbine, and many more. In hindsight, the Army shouldn't have named many things M1 during WW2 lol

Abraham Perez

Garand and Carbine were semi automatic. The Thompson, like the weapon the trooper that with Winters has, is fully automatic and semi automatic

Ladyjaded

The value is that it would be for their Deaf fans like me. Isn’t there value in that? The show itself is subbed naturally by the company. I’m talking about the guys themselves. I know he does for GoT for the show. I’m Deaf so I need their commentaries to be subbed. I really do enjoy the show being subbed but that’s not the main thing. It’s them. I just wonder what they did that turned the subtitles on for them in GoT but not for the other two? I think it’s the format (the two shows are the only ones that they open with “putting a vhs in” does that make a difference? Every single other reaction are subtitled for everything (both the show and their commentaries) except the two shows. It’s bizarre! I do appreciate his subtitling the show. For fun. But I want to understand what they themselves are saying

Abraham Perez

As for Guarnere, remember he just lost his brother and wants to kill the enemy badly. Hence his bad attitude

BrendaPerry / GramBree

This is my all time favorite show. I can't even say how many times I've watched it. My dad and 2 of his brothers served in WW2 as well as my mom's 2 brothers. All served in the Pacific except for my dad's oldest brother who served in Europe, and was in almost all major battles from d-day on. He was wounded 3 times and earned purple heart medal. All of my uncles would go to reunions and would lecture on their service. My dad refused to go to any of that or even talk about the war. He had lied about his age to enlist...he was just too young for what he saw I think.

Eric is Me

Thank you for clarifying. I did not know you are deaf, and I meant no offense so hopefully none was taken. Yes, there is definitely value in that. I'll collab with the admin and see what I can find out for you. (I'm not deaf but do have 50% hearing loss and wear two hearing aids so I understand the need for subtitles).

German tanks were superior, yes, but also horribly over-engineered (like german cars now😇) which makes sourcing parts harder, repairs much longer, tank-factory-output lower. The US on the other hand were able to mass produce the simpler, cheaper Sherman tanks and could easily swap out damaged parts across different models. Theres actually a story about the germans taking apart a captured Sherman and marveling at how simple and cheap it was.

Eric is Me

At the bottom of the video in the lower right there is a setting to toggle the Closed Captions. Do you have that option available for you?

Ladyjaded

Yes and it’s on which is why the show is subbed but not them 🤷‍♀️. I don’t understand it either? lol wahhhhhhhh. I really wanted to watch it!!!! Man!!!! Just my freaking luck!

Cristabel

Up n Adam Mikey!! 😜

Ladyjaded

Why does GoT and all the other movies work except this and Chernobyl!!!!!! What are they doing with these two that are different?????? (Crying… this is my favorite series!!!!!!)

Noah Alvarez

You don’t remember hearing about this show because it came out the week of 9/11 , we were all a little distracted.

Paralightworx

Actually there were many Volksdeutsche in the eastern Part of Youtube and there were big communities in the US of Germans. In the early phase of the war when the US weren‘t involved some of them went back to Germany to fight for the Fatherland. The German grenade is called M24 Stielhandgranate (potatosmasher).

Jane at Home

They explained that Guarnere's brother was killed in Monte Cassino and he just found out before the jump when he accidentally found the letter that contained the info in the last episode. And then they reiterated it in this one, and you just missed it.

Ladyjaded

Oh no offense taken!!!!!!! I just think it has to do with format OR SOMETHING! I mean every single thing of theirs are subbed both ways. 🤷‍♀️. I just love them so much!!!!! They are so hilarious! And thoughtful and touching.

Jane at Home

The German-American Bund was a wing of the Nazi Party in America, and sponsored summer camps and held a huge rally at Madison Square Garden, with special guest Charles Lindbergh who was a big Hitler fan. There were a scary number of Nazi sympathizers in America and they never left. They just waited for their moment to come again.

Eric is Me

I hear you and understand your frustration. I'll do my best to find some answers for you. It'll probably take a day or two to get something solid. Don't fret, we'll get it worked out.

Kevin Bisson

Most of the 101st guys carried the M1 Garand, a rifle chambered in 30-06, 8 shot capacity and is semi-automatic. Some had the M1 Carbine, a magazine-fed semi-auto rifle chambered in 30 carbine, a less powerful round compared to the 30-06. Guarnere was using the Thompson sub-machine gun, full auto, chambered in 45acp, which is the same rounds the US sidearm, the 1911 pistol, is chambered in. These weapons gave the U.S. a pretty nice advantage in the European theater, as most of the Germans carried a K98 bolt-action rifle, chambered in 8mm Mauser with a capacity of only 5 rounds, and having to manually operate the bolt after every shot fired. The Germans also had an MP40 submachine gun, chambered in 9mm Luger, the same round in their pistol, the one Hoobler was trying to get when running into the field. The weaponry of WW2 is extremely fascinating, and this show does an excellent job of showing it. The reloading and combat feel very real and immersive. So glad you guys are loving the show; to me, it's the best show ever made, and I agree with you; it's better than Saving Private Ryan. I'd say it's my favorite war show/movie ever made. Please make sure you watch the "We Stand Alone Together: The Men of Easy Company" documentary after you complete the show; it's amazing and should be required viewing in school.

Ladyjaded

Thank you!!!! I appreciate it.

Jane at Home

Actually, Winters was a Mennonite.

Alex

StG 44 is the first assault rifle though class of its own

VideoMixer1000

You said its important to watch. then please also watch "the pacific" because what these guy had to live through makes europa look like a hotel. Would be amazing if you watched that

DoomGummy

And for reference to Mike and Sean - They would typically hold a magazine clip that held about 8 rounds. You'll hear the clang as it empties it's last round as they reach to reload frequently in this show. Even to this day, variations of the M1 are still in use and are extremely hearty and accurate firearms. Automatic weapons were in use, like the mounted machine guns, the BAR, and Thompson SMG.

Brent Friedeman

welp, I thought it was "up n' Adam" as well. Also looks wrong when I type that out...

721Marty

One of our Tiger tanks is worth four of their Shermans, but the Americans always bring five. If true quote or made up I think that’s sums it up .

Mikey Show Presents

Hi @Ladyjaded, it's Mike. I am working with Sean to get this fixed for you, ASAP. I want to make this right for you.

Ladyjaded

Wow thank you so much but please don’t overextend yourself!!!!!! Btw I love your work!!!!! Thanks!

LittleHorus

What happened to the captions on this video? No auto subtitles all of the sudden :(

YorkieJ

There’s going to be some rough times ahead gentleman, this show will have you choking. Great reaction

Carlos Gonzalez

Have you watched Masters of the Air? A lot of people don't know that it's the 3rd show in the series. Just came out like two years ago.

BrendaPerry / GramBree

Yes I've watched it, and the Pacific as well. I enjoyed all 3, tho a lot dont care for Masters of the Air. 🤷‍♀️ I recommend everyone watch the "unofficial last episodes" after each series is over... We Stand Alone Together after BoB, He Has Seen War after the Pacific ( includes BoB members as well as The Pacific members, found on YouTube) and The Bloody Hundreth after Masters of the Air. Ken Burns' documentary The War is also a must watch.

I'm no Alpha but I know what to do to bullies. One night a person in MY home with me invited decided to talk me down, I asked him to leave, he wouldn't, I told him I would hit him he said try it. I backed down and for several hours he made fun of me and accused me of lying about my illness. He then in the morning took money from my coat (I saw him, think he wanted me to see) for his taxi that I refused to pay for. Didn't see him again until 7 years later in a club, I went to him and butted him, punched him twice and threw him under a table into the leg of it. He had a few minor stitches but brave boy went to the police and cried about it. Shows what a bully is when opposed. I had no charge for it just a caution and the officer said how much of a knob he was to them too.

marc

Yep, September 9th. I actually remember putting it on my must watch list (I loved "From the Earth to the moon" and hoped they did as good a job - Didn't want to watch any war films for a time after that horrible day.

marc

Now it's time to watch "the Longest Day"

Christopher Altamirano

Can you guys unblur the scenes with text please or read them outloud

Christopher Altamirano

They should start a war movie thing, Enemy at the Gates is great but id want them to watch Hacksaw Ridge first tbh

Bad_Username

Hacksaw Ridge would be a great pick as well! Love that movie. But i really wanna see something from the eastern front at some point!😁

Perry Taliaferro

Well, in all fairness and in Mike's defense, they do most always pronounce it as "em" and not "them"... "Up and at 'em", so yeah, I can understand why you would hear it as Adam. Although.... :)

Hyperion

David schwemmer is genuinely interesting at this role. Its like how Dane Cook can play a serious role in the film Mr.Brooks.

Hyperion

Since mikey is a big fan of "up and adam" he might like ricky from trailer park boys. "Im not the typa guy to say atodaso, but you know what!? Atodaso. I f*ckin atodaso!" "Get two birds stoned at once" "I know what jalapeño is, but i ordered f*ckin juhlapano!"

Fighting irish

As far as I Know from my Cadet training and I’m Canadian is that the M1 Grand is a semi Automatic rifle I got to fire one once a long time ago and yet it’s a heavy rifle and they say nothing got solders killed more then the ping when the rifle ejectied its clip because that told the enemy you were reloading and weak to counter attacks

Fighting irish

Spears is the best Para Trooper in that company by the way besides maybe Winters

BaboulasMan

Great action, but the show is a one-sided American perspective that downplays the European forces and civilians who spent years bleeding, dying, and being brutalized. It’s like a quarterback taking 100% of the MVPs and movie deals while the offensive linemen—who took a literal beating in the trenches the whole game—don't even get a mention in the highlights

BaboulasMan

Yet more than 2 times more Americans died in Europe than in the Pacific.

Carter Rogness

German armor often had better guns and plating, though their vehicles were plagued with hefty maintenance schedules, underpowered systems, and difficult repairs. US tanks were more numerous and logistically superior, ultimately giving them the upper hand in a general sense. British tanks originally were built for infantry support, and thus had a hard time with German anti-armor. As the conflict matured, German armor became less and less effective due to their over reliance on their over engineered systems as well as lack of parts and fuel.

Talon Karrde

Our tank was outmatched by the Panzer true enough. Our tanks fare outmatched the panzers. If that makes sense. 1 Sherman vs a Panzer. Rough fight for that Sherman. But a Panzer vs a whole bunch of our Sherman's cause we made so many... thats what made them successful

Marcus Tetwiler

if there was an academy awards for reaction podcasts, this would be a nominee for episode of the year. you guys are hitting a new/next level stride. keep it up 💥

MomzillaAngie

This is my first time watch of the show - well second time with the guys - and I just want to say you cannot take your dang eyes off the show for a second! I am riveted and I have to be so I don't miss anything! It's really really good. I love the handheld camera too. We are a soldier running and fighting with them as well. So cool. Need more Tom Hanks in these episodes though. That's all it's missing. I hope he shows up to save the day soon. :)

MomzillaAngie

Thanks for the info! A lot of it sounded like whaa whaa whaa Charlie Brown's mom to me but I did get the general gist of it and it helps out a lot in getting the full experience of this show! :)

MomzillaAngie

Agreed. I just watched a documentary a couple weeks ago about the entire continent of Europe after WW2 and the war did not stop for those people when Hitler died. The suffering went on and on for decades and the re-distributing of whole countries that was done as Stalin grabbed up land. People were pawns and died by the millions AFTER the war ended too. It is not taught in the history books in the US and not even thought about, frankly. :(

MomzillaAngie

Thanks for the info! I know nothing about that stuff and it helps me understand and get the whole experience too - along with the guys of course. :)

MomzillaAngie

The tanks are terrifying! Can you even imagine seeing one of them coming at you through the brush? I'd poop my pants and die of fright before they even fired and the noise must be deafening!

MomzillaAngie

My grandfather served on the ground in WW2 and never ever spoke of it. He knew a lot of German words though and taught me some. I can look back now and see why he was the way he was.

Eric is Me

Got an update on this. Apparently it's a Patreon issue that has been happening system-wide. Patreon is working on it.

Ladyjaded

Interesting! I thought it was the vhs opening that messed with it. Because BoB episode 3 that did not have the vhs opening worked. Then when they put the vhs opening on GoT episode 9 of season 3 it didn’t work. It seems to work with everything that did not open with the vhs tape thing

Meggie Doodles

The scene at the beginning where the plane goes up in flames and you see the men on fire jumping out is so tragic, for me it's the most haunting image of this show. Tangentially, I reeeeally hope you guys can watch 1917 at some point!

PlasticMultiView

I'm an Army aircraft mechanic and I had the honor to wrench on the lead plane into Normandy 'That's All Brother'. I love this series to pieces.

A Romanian named Andrei

Did you just say that you all have a reaction vid for Fury? It’s nowhere to be seen.

Jordan Baillie

How dare you disrespect Bill Guarnere. You'll love him by the end By the way... I'm not actually angry or trying to call you guys out. I just know you'll both love him by the end.
