After you've finished the Hunger Games series, you should watch Battle Royale, Japnese movie from 2000 with a very similar premise.

Jeffrey Wright is Beetee the tech guy. He’s side character #1 in everything. I love him so much! I love when Katniss meets him and Wiress in Catching Fire. Just the way he looks at her while she’s looking away he is saying more than words can say. The look is him analyzing her and deciding what kind of person she is and that they will join in protecting her in the arena. It’s a beautiful piece of subtle acting. He was awesome in the HBO series Westworld, which has a brilliant first couple seasons.

I'm sad I ignored these films at the time thinking they were a Twilight marketed shallow series. I feel like the marketing almost did them a disservice from how anyone could enjoy them. Genuinely brilliant. They're different from Battle Royale too. Donald Sutherland apparently said this role was the most important one he ever did in his career and I understand now why.

To be fair Katniss is very conflicted and when she does kiss Gale it’s more of a pity kiss? I know that’s not right but also Katniss doesn’t know how she feels and a couple of exchanged kisses that have no sparks definitely confirms her suspicions that Gale is just a friend. I hope that made sense lol
