The Joy of Mendocino Motors

An interesting design of solar-powered motor. One could be used to power a very feeble fan. Science! Experiments! Lights! Bad hair! What more do you want? The motor was kindly sent to me by www.enginediy.com Daryl Chapin image by http://inventors-3a92.kxcdn.com/375-master.jpg, Fair use, https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?curid=56426343 Support me on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/Lindybeige Buy the music - the music played at the end of my videos is now available here: https://lindybeige.bandcamp.com/track/the-mandeville-march Buy tat (merch): https://www.bonfire.com/results/Lindybeige/ More videos here: All Lindybeige: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLzzh7AuEBkEmMWChgPPOQqjhkkPq_eP1X Lindybeige: a channel of archaeology, ancient and medieval warfare, rants, swing dance, travelogues, evolution, and whatever else occurs to me to make. ▼ Follow me... Interesting video. Audio is ever so slightly out of sync

When you talked about Australia it reminded me I'd seen a similar article about China's huge wind farms in their deserts not being a major success due to remoteness for any industry that might set up there for cheap power and the difficulties with losses in transmission power

Yes the audio is out of sync

The only application I can see apart from entertainment value would be to generate alternating current (AC) instead of direct current (DC) and if it was powerful enough to power a flywheel, then that could make the output somewhat stable. I'd be very interested to know what kind of power you could get out of it if scaled up. But I imagine it would still be much more effective and efficient to just charge up batteries using the solar panels, and then use that stored up power directly. Interesting and fun as a concept and gadget, though.
