A bit late for the morning, but I had to edit it quite a bit! Next one: Friday 27th.

Enjoy!

“Now it’s our turn,” Priam said, sitting cross-legged in the grass.

The phoenix settled in front of him. “At last. Which reward are we starting with?”

“You tell me,” Priam replied, forcing himself to ignore Jasmine’s acrobatics in the background. “I’ve got a ton of rewards pending, and I think it’s time to map out exactly how I’m progressing until the Tier up.”

“A wise decision,” the phoenix responded, glancing at Priam’s shadow dancing on the ground. As a being of fire, the bird cast none itself. “I assume you have already thought about it? I would rather advise than dictate.”

Priam organized his thoughts, glancing at the notes in his add-on. “Top priority is surviving my quintuple Tribulation. I can still delay them for five more months, but the longer I wait, the more it strangles my progress.”

Some of his attributes were already nearing the threshold for triggering a sixth Tribulation.

“Waiting beyond necessity is a bad idea. Tribulations are the perfect opportunity to secure prerequisites for ideal upgrades and to harmonize your soul with a Concept. Think of them as a trial to ensure your foundation is strong before moving forward.”

Priam groaned but nodded. He knew it was good in the long run, but right now, it was just a massive pain.

“With Back in Time, I got a glimpse of my Tribulations. The first two are mental. I died too quickly to study them properly, but I remember being trapped in nightmares where the masks I wore on Earth replaced my identity.”

The phoenix cocked a fiery eyebrow. “I’m not sure I follow.”

Priam winced. “Before the Tutorial, I forced myself to fit in. To be accepted, I wore a mask rather than showing my true self. Not literally, of course, but… I acted how people expected me to. It was easier to blend in without showing my true feelings.”

“A lot of people do that.”

“With everyone?” Priam countered.

The phoenix hesitated before shaking his head. “I don’t know humanity well enough to judge, sorry. Have you figured out what the System sees as a weakness?”

“I wore those masks for so long that I forgot who I was. Maybe I still don’t know.” Priam looked at his hands. They had changed since the Tutorial, and now, even his body felt alien to him. “Who am I? The System wants me to find an answer to that question.”

The phoenix nodded. “Identity is the strongest anchor for an ego. Without it, your personality would dilute as you strive for Unity with a Concept.”

“It already happened,” Priam recalled. He had lost control when he became the incarnation of Fire and nearly killed Sphinx.

“So we have identified the reason for your first two Tribulations.”

Priam let out a hollow laugh. “All I need to do is figure out who I am. Piece of cake!”

The phoenix gestured toward Jasmine. “Earlier, with your friend... You weren’t wearing a mask. It’s a start.”

Priam glanced at the young woman. Her distress had moved him, and he had been so caught up in the moment that he hadn’t played any role.

“It’s a start,” he admitted, before sighing. “I’d rather the System stay out of my mental health problems. Just give me an enemy to punch, that’s all I ask!”

“Ignoring your mental health is dangerous. Letting it fester is like letting emotional wounds rot... until they turn you into a monster.” The phoenix paused, and Priam understood he was thinking about the corruption of his original self. “The System is trying to patch that.”

“By killing those who lose their minds?”

“A cruel method devised by a merciless machine. I am sure you have got a plan to survive.”

“Of course I’ve got a plan. I’m not dying twice from the same shit.” Priam glanced at the sky of his world, aware that the System was listening. Was it wise to lay all his cards on the table? As if this thing wasn’t reading my mind 24/7. “I’ve got a mythical shield to tank the physical Tribulations while I deal with the mental ones,” Priam revealed. In the erased timeline, Sumstreh had destroyed it, but this time, he managed to keep it.

“You realize you can’t punch your nightmares until they go away, right?”

“No, but I can adapt to them. [True Will] should help, though I’m planning to downgrade it to Epic to get the ideal version.”

“Are you sure you will check off all five prerequisites?”

“I didn’t live through [Back in Time] for nothing.”

“I suppose. However, you are still taking a risk as an ideal Epic skill is weaker than its high Legendary version.”

Priam tapped his temple. “With [He Who Eludes Death], my only weaknesses are my soul, mind, ego, and memory. If I want to secure them as best as possible, I need a flawless foundation. Plus, my gut tells me that tempering my body with ideal resistances is the way to become a Heavenly Dragon.”

“Your gut or your obsession with perfection?”

“Both,” Priam grinned. “I can’t imagine a dragon settling for anything less than perfection.”

“That does sound like those prideful creatures,” the phoenix chuckled. “So, you have chosen a skill for one of the seven gates of your perfect body. Now, you just have to anchor it.”

“I was planning to use the Tribulation to create the first gate. The method requires using a trophy and undergoing 'vigorous tempering' to anchor the resistance. All I’m missing is the trophy.”

The phoenix remained silent for several seconds before smacking his head with a wing. “Sorry, I must have misheard. Did you just suggest using a Tribulation to temper your body?”

“You say that like it’s a bad idea.”

“It’s the dumbest idea I have heard since my death. I’m honestly surprised you didn’t get the [Dumbass] Title just for saying it.”

“... Is that a real Title?”

“I don’t know, but if you know a King, ask them to petition the System to grant it to you!”

“Will do; I’m not turning down Merit points,” Priam grinned. “So, is tempering by Tribulation possible?”

“It’s madness.”

“Trying to achieve perfection without taking risks—that’s the real madness.”

They locked eyes for a moment before the phoenix looked away.

“We will talk about it later.”

There was nothing more to add, so Priam proceeded.

Like a runner on the verge of collapse, Priam felt his mind waver. As a passive skill, [True Will] had been supporting him at every moment. Now that the resistance was gone, no longer reinforcing his identity, he felt his mental state weaken.

Simultaneously, his ego hardened into a core. The sensation was hard to pin down, maybe because it came from his mind itself, but it was real. What he lost in sheer mental resistance, he gained in raw quality. As long as Priam fought for his freedom, his ego would endure.

That resistance was fueled by his determination, and that was all he had ever hoped for. A smile tugged at his lips, but the System wasn’t done surprising him.

With eyes closed, Priam focused on his soul. On the fourth and final layer, a massive rune had just formed. The aether produced by his soul passed through this sigil, gaining an odd affinity. The energy was then distributed throughout his body via his meridians, granting him a peculiar property.

His aetheric signature seemed distorted, and [Ideal Aether Perception] sensed a confusing quality to it. That was likely why most of the divination probes hovering around him appeared lost. He could sense millions of them, like butterflies waiting to steal his secrets. Mysteriously, most were circling endlessly, unable to close the final gap. Those that did reach his skin were often destroyed by the more offensive aspects of his resistance. [Ciphered Record] was going above and beyond to kick some asses.

One probe, however, caught Priam’s attention with its familiarity, and he used [Divination Interception] to connect with it. The foreign structure responded by striking like a serpent. A connection opened, and Priam felt the distant presence of Sna, the shaman of the Snaherts.

“I thought Oasis and the Snaherts had an agreement,” he sent.

A ripple of surprise passed through the mental bridge. The Tier 4 hadn’t expected him to detect her probe, much less connect with it—and certainly not recognize her.

“Indeed. My probe must have... wandered,” replied the shaman.

“Sure. See you in a month for the tournament.”

With that, Priam summoned [There Is No Heaven] and severed the connection brutally. It was definitely the psychic equivalent of an insult, but he didn’t care for voyeurs.

“Someone woke up today and chose violence,” the phoenix commented.

“That’s all they understand.”

Prometheus dismounted the summoned horse, surveying the devastated landscape beyond the camp. What was once a lush forest had been reduced to a broken plain. The monstrous wails echoing from the cracks mingled with cries of despair rising from smoldering craters.

Despite the dry air, he heard a sniffle to his right. A young man, barely sporting a beard, was sobbing. Around him, men and women stared at their king, a mix of hope and pride battling against sorrow and fear in their eyes.

“The survivors, Your Majesty,” Guandi presented. The general-in-chief was pale. “Fifty-four out of ten thousand.”

Less than one percent.

When Mercury had told him about the survival rates of the Tribulations, Prometheus had been shocked. However, this knowledge hadn’t prepared him for the sight before him. When piles of corpses were reduced to statistics, the ink was blood red.

“In this cruel new universe, you have taken up arms,” Prometheus addressed the survivors. “The trial was harsh, yet your victory has reforged you. Those who have fallen are watching us, and their hopes walk with us. If we are to join them tomorrow, then today must matter. The battle is coming, and I will await you by my side,” he roared, raising his sword. “For humanity!”

“For humanity!” the survivors echoed, tears streaming down their faces.

The cry reached the camp behind them, and the warriors responded in kind.

“FOR HUMANITY!”

As the ground trembled beneath the roar of the Royal Army, Prometheus felt hope begin to chase away the fear in his heart. Priam proved every day that a human could stand against fate.

The King would prove that all of humanity could.

AMAZING CHAPTER I love the upgrades Priam got and it was a really smart decision to dismantle True Will and now he has an Ideal Legendary Skill

Andrew

Thank you!

Mefel

Thanks for the chapter ! I think you forgot to add the +1000000 sun points at the end and maybe the +10000 potential too. Keep up the good work and see you for the next chap !

Shadow Korosu

Good lord, I don't believe he even actually spent a single reward yet in this chapter and he's already made impressive gains. Spent a bunch of Potential and yet he's made more than double what he spent, and he's improved Titles and such. Hopefully he actually cashes in on all of his pending rewards next chapter, I want to see him solidify this Heavenly Dragon tempering and hopefully catapult himself beyond Dishnu and Arnold, so he can reap the rewards for taking down Bastard.

Shadow Korosu

Definitely forgot the Sun Points but he got the Potential added, they're just taking into consideration what he spent as well.

Custus

Thanks for the chapter!

Halfcrzy

Your missing the gained sun points at the end. 1 million I believe

Stefan Landshut

Didn't he just get 1 000 000 Sun points? In the last part it shows he only has 609? or did I not understand?

TheCommensuratePup

Can he upgrade his [High Aether Manipulation] to ideal? It seems that would be the absolute best one to have as ideal right after perception

Dungeonborn

Even if it’s another 😂

Ihsan Gunay

Did he get back the legendary skill evolution token with his downgrade?

Dungeonborn

I mean is it just me or is it scary how hard the snowball effect is continuing to come down on priam?

MomoDG

Problem is 1. The downgrade would cost 20.000 potential and 2. Priam isn't even close to fulfilling the prerequisites

MomoDG

He didn't. He earned a Second Legendary Skill Token when he defeated the Tier 2 Rabhorn solo.

Naasir Smalls

He went through the prerequisites and Domain II was really the biggest limiting factor he doesn’t have time to do that

Naasir Smalls

“Domain II, three evolved meta attributes above a thousand, and advanced aether mastery.” That’s what he’d need

Ihsan Gunay

He didn’t have the token last chapter

MomoDG

I know Priam(author) didn't list it for ages, but Priam did earn a 2nd Legendary Skill Token in chapter 168. Just was kinda forgotten I assume. The first one Priam earned for completing a Quad Tribulation.

MomoDG

Domain II might actually be the easiest for Priam. Problem there is just that it would trigger hos high Tribulation. The real linchpin seems to be the advanced aether Mastery, thats where the Phoenix Prince failed and he trained almost 10 years for it.

Zaim İpek

What do you mean? The positive snowball effect of his progress that seems to constantly accelerate via his max lvl protagonist aura or the negative snowball of gaining more enemies as he becomes more well known and increasing tribulation difficulty as he pushes the limits?

Auber

So am I right in understanding that 10k folk off the Divine Army just went through their tribulations (presuming single tribs) and the survival rate was 0.5%?

Zaim İpek

He should be able to raise Free Will into ideal Legendary soon enough using his tribulation. The question is what should be his next Ideal Legendary. . . Probably whichever of his physical resistances is the most comprehensive. That would be well rounded. For his five ideal Legendary skills to fill out his build 1 Ciphered Record 2 Free Will ideal upgrade 3 Fire Champion Physique ideal upgrade to Pyro Champion Physique. 4 Adaptive Golden Meridians ideal upgrade 5 Some kind of ideal merger of Sun Steel Body, Solar Resistance, and Radiation Resistance. Those three obviously belong together as a combined Ideal Legendary skill. Probably something like Star Dweller Body for beings that can comfortably live on a star and endure the gravity, extreme magnetic storms, radiation, heat, and and environment that is constantly exploding with nuclear fusion explosions. He will probably meet the requirements if he raises solar resistance to epic or maybe just experiments more with the star in his inner world. Any energy weapon like Arnold's lasers or magical lightning attacks would be useless against him if he had that. But as soon as he reaches tier-1, I think he should focus on Necro-Resistance. That will soon become his most important resistance and probably help him with developing curse resistance. Combining curse resistance and Necro-Resistance is probably the way to make it an Ideal Legendary skill.

Subliminary

Personally I like Prometheus. Priam is just a star to aspire to who fends off the worst of the worst. The people *need* someone like Prometheus.

_mori

I’m hoping he fuses fire champion physique to sun steal body before doing that upgrading them. They have a bit of overlap, and Priam would be better off with just one skill doing both things. It’d also mitigate his ridiculous CONST growth rate. That stat can’t start still

_mori

Necro + curse + depths doesn’t sound bad. I still recall that there’s a depth dweller capable of corrupting t9 systems…

_mori

Yeah. It’s brutal

_mori

It’s been fixed

_mori

For his plans to temper himself, do they have to be his tribulations? If Dishnu triggers his tribulation in Oasis, would Priam be allowed to use the fire tribulation Dishnu summons to temper his body?

Auber

I think it was already noted the Sun Steel could potentially merge with Gravity Resistance for an ideal legendary resistance. it makes sense on the crushing resistance front, as the force of gravity is applied throughout his body evenly. it would be a very well rounded physical resistance then.

Auber

I'm quiet certain that things like Depth and Necro (plus other potential factions like Fel, Bale, Cronenberg, etc...) can be consolidated, it just makes too much sense

Auber

not scary, exciting. two ideal upgrades in one chapter. at this rate he'll be able to pump out epic ideals every other chapter in a few weeks.

Auber

Ciphered Record is pretty awesome from what he was able to achieve with it as soon as he got it. That granny from the snake tribe should be impressed rather than pissed at the move he pulled on her.

Auber

i'm surprised he didn't get a level in any of [Divination Interception[, [Mind Bridge] or [There is No Heaven] given the way he used them is a bit different to before; catching and communicating with someone through a divination attempt and basically slapping them for it

MomoDG

I don't think Fire Champion Champion Physique + Sun Steel Body makes any sense. Why would you combine a evolved heat/thermal resistance + a blunt resistance? Cover very different thing. Fire Champion Physique + Solar Resistance and Radiation Resistance I could see.

Zaim İpek

The way I see it is [ ] Champion Physiques are always concept centric. So these would be unlikely to fuse with anything and most likely the only way to change or upgrade it to successfully evolve or fuse a concept. So eventually he would get Mist Champion Physique. And Pyro Champion Physique would absorb fire champion physique. btw, pyro is more of a metaphysical concept than a physical reality, so it is only loosely related to any kind of heat resistance. Pyro can run cold if he wants it to. A pyro physique doesn't so much resist other things as it CONSUMES them. This is the kind of concept that would be able to burn poisons, curses, tracers, memories, souls, light, lightning, fire, etc. Only very strong skills powered by higher level concepts would avoid being consumed. And once pyro and mist merge and he achieves Champion in it this skill would upgrade to whatever that new concept is. That's my guess. The main point is that they aren't so much about "resisting" anything as they are about "becoming" their concept. I agree that necro and depths resistance could and should be merged at a higher lvl, but that level is probably well past legendary or even mythic. That's probably a skill rank beyond mythical. Remember Necro and Depths are extremely high ranked concepts that can corrupt basically anyone and anything tier-8 and lower. To get a combined super skill that basically makes him incorruptible to every manner of corruption or aetheric/conceptual infection is a very OP skill. I think we won't be seeing ANYONE with a skill like that below tier-5. Elf Empress might have that kind of OP skill. I think Sun Steel merging with Gravity res makes as much sense as Sun Steel merging with Radiation res. The description for sun steel is a metal that forms at a star's core, so both make sense. All three merging makes even more sense. And i can already see the upgrade path. Stellar Citizen Body would upgrade to White Dwarf Citizen. which would evolve to Neutron Star Citizen which would evolve to Black Hole Dweller or something. These obviously wouldn't be the names, but you get the point and how it progresses. Each would be a pretty big jump from the previous, so they all probably need to be ideal and might need additional skill mergers along the way. Neutron Star lvl definitely needs some kind of electromagnetic field resistance considering how intense the EM fields are on the surface of a Neutron star. Those fields would rip the electrons out of any non-magical material. Hard to develop that resistance unless you face someone with a really powerful electromagnetic concept at least champion lvl tier-1 or tier-2, maybe higher. It's an op instant KO kind of skill. There are basically no overlapping resistances that would help. Maybe having Micro III or Micro IV could help. Whatever lvl micro lets you control your subatomic particles is the one you would need to even begin developing the resistance on your own or develop your own electromagnetic manipulation skill and fight fire with fire. Arnold is probably working on it. Being the science-based thinker he is, and made of metal and electronic components. He is probably hyper aware of the danger of extremely powerful electromagnetic fields and what they could do it him. He is probably racing to develop that skill for himself before anyone else can hit him with it. Anyway, I got distracted. . . what was I talking about? skills. resistances. that stuff. I probably said enough.

Zaim İpek

The people need both. They need someone to inspire them and show them possibilities they didn't know were possible before. That's Priam. And they need someone to actually give direction and organize things towards a common goal, that's Prometheus. Both are important.

Zaim İpek

Ideal epic won't mean much to a Tier-1 Priam. I agree it is exciting. All the champions in Elysium have some measure of snowball effect happening, but there is a reason the story is following Priam and not them. Priam's snow ball definitely has the most exponential growth. It's very impressive. Also consider that it still hasn't been 24 hrs since the moment when he got the back in time achievement. So everything from the alternate time line in addition to this chapter has been gained in less than 24 hrs. Obviously he can't replicate this particular cheat without another system reward, but it's still very impressive to any of his rivals who wouldn't know how he became so much more powerful so quickly. Author had good foresight to set the power scale of the universe so high. He knew he was going to write a character that grows OP very quickly, so he made the road to the top long enough to compensate. It will probably take Priam at least 500 years to become the 8th universal concept. But compared to everyone else that takes at least 50,000 years to reach to reach the top-tier, it's like they blinked and it was over. Crazy fast for this universe. But plenty slow to write a story. And the blinding fast pace means something interesting is always happening as Priam speed-runs the universe. That's basically what this story is. It's an ascension speed-run.

Dungeonborn

Though it doesn’t feel like it because it is so detailed in the writing

Zaim İpek

I don't think it's even all that detailed. It's just that so much is happening so quickly. I also don't think Priam sleeps anymore, so there is never a pause of activity. Things are constantly progressing at maximum speed.

_mori

Do you think they’ll have any synergy with space resistance?

_mori

As far as his rivals are concerned, Priam should be ahead of them in system rewards, but that isn’t true. He’s actually a bit behind because dying resets the timer for him. Most of his rivals would’ve gotten their third rewards by now(?) after a month living (and staying alive) in elysium. Priam just got his. What I do doubt though, is that their second rewards would’ve been as impactful for themselves as Priam’s was for himself. Not necessarily because they’re lesser in value, but because they can gain more from them the more powerful they are at the time they receive them.

MomoDG

Sun Steel Body chould habe one Space Resistance. Just based on that 1 of it's Ideal Requirements was "being crushed 8n chaotic space". There is clear oberlap.

Zaim İpek

I think space resistance would merge at a higher stage of the skill. Too early to merge it now.

BelligerentGnu

By my math, he should have 19,697 potential - coincidentally, just shy of what he needs to downgrade High Aether manipulation....
