Thanks for your help! Yes, I had another candidate in mind and I wasn't even sure I would add this one, but since the novel was about to end I thought why not. It adds someone from outside the family which makes it a bit more interesting. I also used it to practice writing about a love interest outside the MC's immediate 'vicinity' if that makes any sense.

It does make sense. Adding a romance partner with no real connection when the MC already has others who do is hard.
