[1 new SWORDS episode]Our 100th weekly newsletter! Whoa!!

Today I am missing out on Auckland Zinefest, the 48Hour Film Contest, Webcomicon and GenCon. Everyone is having such a cool weekend without me!!

Now that that's out of the way:

We finally talked about Cut The Deck : Choplet's Dungeon and we've decided not to Kickstart it. Instead, we've got the cash to cover a print run ourselves, so we're gonna keep that 5% cut and get the most out of it. A small cheap product won't make huge waves on Kickstarter. I really believe in what we've made - it's easier to learn, it's quick to play and it's hella fun. I've had nothing but positive feedback from everyone. A tiny bit more polish and we'll make it happen.

This week we began prototyping the Visual Novel version of the series that I've been thinking about for a while... and it came together so quickly that we're already talking about putting it into Early Access!

Each panel transitions in on its own, with all sorts of screen shakes and sound effects to make every moment pop! And it lets us bend the laws of reality, like this:

This Swords Comic Collection currently covers the Director's Cut of Episodes 1-500, telling the story in chronological order as much as possible. With the help of a few full-page spreads that really emphasize certain story beats, I think this will easily become the definitive way to enjoy the story. I'm excited to release it!We've got lots and lots of ideas for extra features! It would also be technically very easy to add voice acting to the whole thing - so if you have an interest in voicing any character and you've got the chops for it, flick me an email with a demo reel.

I will be adding the names of every person who has ever supported this Patreon account into the games credits. Thank you for being one of them.

It's also a really, really good argument to slowly give the original seasons the HD treatment. It's one step closer to printing the whole adventure as an omnibus and it gives me a reason to squeeze in a few extra pages here and there that help elevate the original storyline. Maybe one redraw a month would be a good high-tier Patreon reward?

Psst... doing a STARS version would be about a day's work now that we have the framework... wink!

Facebook ad revenue has been kind to me lately, so as long as it continues to cover my cost of living, I can get back to investing my Patreon earnings in what's really important - making cool stuff!!! I really appreciate you having my back during the highs and lows of being a creative, but now it's full Steam Page ahead.
