I mean... the last we see of her was a music sting and a gulp sound. so... chances are there was only the initial presumption by the audience she was eaten by jungle bugs. they never confirmed she died, so she could well have just been lost in the jungle for years eating people and insects... then finally come back on the scene and ends up getting revenge on tom for his part in her situation... along with the announcers.
